Persevere- 2011 word of the year

I had a Word of the year for 2010.

WISDOM it totally fit, at the time, it was PERFECT as far as words of the year go.

until about mid summer/August? (not that I even recalled that it was my word by then.)

but by then I was Pregnant, and had dropped all my classes and my focus had changed.

I was just out to survive. (which it seems I'd been doing for some time.)

Surviving-

- morning sickness.

-continued unemployment in our household.

- facing foreclosure and moving to a new home.

essentially the crap hit the fan and it was all we could do to survive.

we could endure it with a smile and an optimistic heart or wallow. we did a little of both (let's be real)

but for the most part, some changes were fabulous and great, and some were a hard adjustment.

Throughout the holiday season we've realized new and delightful ways we are truly blessed and had days that truly sucked and yet with those trials, lessons were learned, blessings were discovered and we again survived.

We go into this new year with Hope and optimism and yet.... going in , we know there could be more upheaval and stress to go along with the opportunities to be found this New Year.

so my word for the year at this point is Persevere.

per·se·vere

Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Vitality shows in not only the ability to persist but the ability to start over. ~F. Scott Fitzgerald

So with that... i found some appropriate ecards .

and I wish you the happiest of New Years.

  1. Great word.

I've so had those years where I couldn't wait for them to be over, sure that the next would be better. It always makes me grateful for a good year, because I know it can change in an instant. I know next year will be better for you. I just feel it.

  2. Love your new word. And as much as we all thought wisdom would go with your new college education, it sounds like much was learned. Unfortunately ;) This year will be a great one! A Riot you could say.

  3. Awesome! I love how you are just so upfront about things- never need to worry about varnishing over here and it's one of the reasons I think you're awesome!

That's a great WOTH. My word for 2010 was "DARE!!!" and my WOTH for 2011 is "Enough"- similar to your persevere WOTH. May it be a year of joy and appreciation for us both.

Oh- and I couldn't help but notice your widget is 29 wks. 3 days pg. That's exactly how far along I was the day I gave birth to my twins. SOOO glad that's in the past!

  7. Great word, and you are already in the midst of it, so good choice to just keep it going.

Where are you anyway? 7 days into a new year and no posts? I hope everything is okay.
