am i out of control?
I think not! Lance thinks yes, and the bank account well it isn't looking good for me at this point!
At what point in the house buying do you get to buy things? Lance thinks after the house is bought , i think before i don't have any more money, because it is all going to the house. Who is right? i have needs, and wants, and more wants. and i realize the budget is limited. Realizing that is half the battle. I make conscious decisions. I am a bargain shopper! and i realize the bargain is no longer a bargain when you don't have money for the real needs in life. I have grown and learned alot in the past few years. I am pretty careful how I spend our money. So tell me at what point do you buy "stuff" when you are buying a house? before? or after? and what about birthdays? do you buy in advance? or just before? Joy's birthday is coming up in the beginning of June and i bought something for it, but with Lance as peeved as he is, i am not telling him. I am gonna hide it in a box and hope i remember where i put it. how do you do birthdays? in advance or just before? am i the only one who fights about this stuff? ok off to bed mad!

Oh man! My husband and I had a similar conversation last night. I totally believe in shopping ahead and finding deals. I buy a lot of the boys clothes in the off season. I've already started buying for school next year, and this year isn't even over. I just bought some stuff for their b-day parties which aren't until July and Sept. But they want Pirates of the Carribean, and I don't want stuff to be gone when I need it, so I'm stocking up now while they have so much out. While we were building this house, I bought a bench for the front porch, & some things for the walls, and a fridge and they sat in our garage. Oh yeah, and a couple months before our house was done, we had a friend get us a great deal on some furniture, so we actually had to get a storage unit to put all of our new furniture in. But it was less than 50% off of normal prices, so who could pass that up?? My husband was in with that, but usually he just rolls his eyes at me and my bargain buy-aheads. Oh and it runs in my family....my sister bought her first Christmas present in Feb. I'm all for bargains and being prepared and well, shopping in general.
I am going through the same thing. Alan thinks we wait until the house is done and we are moving, but by then we will have used our money for the house. I know how frustrated you are. You are so good at finding deals, I don't know why Lance is so mad. Good luck
I think you should buy it before and look for the deals. To me it's harder after you move in, because there are hidden expenses that you might not have thought of. Paige had almost all of her furniture and decorations before Rex and her even got married!
Um, I don't know the anwsers...it's funny because we just moved (about 6 months ago) and you always find stuff that cost money that you didn't anticipate(yard, sprinklers, window well covers, fence...). Somehow...my husband always finds enough money to make the things he wants work...but I generally have to just get a bit here and there. I know it's easier to just move in, see what you have and THEN go get the rest.
I totally buy birthday gifts like right before. I am a complete procrastinator, so this works well with my problems.
And I buy things after I get in the house (more procrastination) only because then I will know just what I need...which is pretty much nothing. I have way too much stuff as it is...
