by request the contents of my basket were...................
4 potatoes -red
1 dozen red plums
2 bags of green grapes
2 heads of lettuce
1 large bunch of broccoli
1 bag of onions- at least 6 medium/large ones
4 giant yellow bell peppers
1 tomato
2 bunches of kale -what the heck do you do with kale? i chucked this, it looked wilted
1 delicious cantaloupe
1 large bunch of bananas
1 bag of celery hearts- that means the good part with out the leaves
1 bag + some extras of carrots -the real kind -you know you have to peel them - the kids were thrilled
i think that is all that was in mine. I did see another basket had raspberries , so maybe the baskets had some different stuff but all the same basics. my family ate all but of 3 plums already today and the cantaloupe already. i gave the bell peppers away. 2 to my mom and 2 to my brother in law that happened to drop by and i know he loves bell peppers so i gave them to him.
again i chucked the kale, mainly because i couldn't get the kids off either computer so i could look up uses for it online. i am not sad about it though. and i probably will start ordering this on a regular basis, but the pick up time might kill me at 7:45- 8 something. I am supposed to go to the Gilbert and Mckellips site which is totally convenient for me. and i could totally use this much and more in two weeks. but i don't think i could use up two baskets worth. maybe. we'll have to see how it lasts.
i guess i missed out on the kale recipes, i looked it up on Google and it doesn't sound so bad. and is probably in a bunch of things i eat with out even knowing it. oh well live and learn. i am still not sad. about the kale.
