memory lane monday! a twist on this ! please help a person out here.

MY super cute and smart and talented nephew is wondering if i could throw this question out here and hoping to get a great idea from you guys! we need to know your most memorable dance memory as far as how you were asked ! best ways, most memorable! most fabulous request for the honor of your presence as a date to a dance in high school? college? do they do that in college? i didn't do the formal college thing so let me know on that too. anyway.

in honor of my request i'll share a few of my own. for the sake of memory monday. How i was asked to a dance!?!

lets see-

a guy gave me a chinese take out box of fortune cookies, he made a batch with "will you go to homecoming with me?"papers inside and then threw in some extras as filler. and one other homemade one said his name, since he doorbell ditched it. i thought it was creative and he said making fortune cookies is not very easy.he burned his fingers pretty bad. i answered with a gold fish, with the note "out of all the fish in the sea you picked me? YES! " -westwood homecoming

that same guy called two days before prom and asked me over the phone! what the hell? no notice? he'd planned on taking me all along, just never had the guts to do it right. it was his senior prom. i was a junior at another high school . westwood prom

hmm another time. the boy down the street from me in California, knew how to bake bread and he made me a loaf of cinnamon sugar swirl bread, with a note in it asking me to homecoming. i was totally surprised he asked me but i guess i was the hot new girl in the ward so who wouldn't wanna take me out? i answered with the candy bar poster. he was impressed.
Claremont high homecoming.

i had a guy i was seeing, ask me by writing it in his pocket notebook or phone book, and i answered by kissing him . yeah this was the guy i made out with in the movies. we were winners! it was his senior prom, i was a sophomore, and not quite 16. Mesa high prom

another guy missed out on taking me to a dance because he kept asking me in class if I'd go with him to homecoming ( he asked me to homecoming and i ended up going to mt. view with the guy from the next story and to westwood's that year and then when he started asking again for prom,) and he never asked me fancy/for real so i never planned on it. yeah he was kind of sad when i told him i had another date. Lindsey witnessed this good time. i totally thought he was kidding. i guess he was serious. he sat in front of me in history i think and harassed me all the time. i had no idea that was a poor attempt at guy flirting. my husband had to explain guy flirting to me. and now i can assume guys really did like me in high school and thought i was cute, i was just too naive to see through the teasing and the "guy flirting" . but this guy did get to go out on a date or two with me and i made out with him once or twice. lucky guy!

but once my friends wanted me to double with them so they set me up with a guy from highland and he asked me some lame way i don't remember, i think Hershey's kisses in my room, like "now that I've kissed the ground you walk on will you go with me to Homecoming? " i am sure my friends did the actual planning of how to ask me. to my homecoming, it was a date anyway. but since we had never met before, or only once for a minute , it was the lamest date ever! he sucked, during the day he slammed my fingers in the car door, on the way home from oracle caves which he didn't bring a flash light there , and we got back late, we only had half an hour to get ready and he forgot or didn't know to order a corsage, so it was ugly and wilted, , and we were all bruised up, then he fell asleep after the dance when everyone else was cuddling and watching a movie, . and then he didn't walk me to my door. not that he would have scored with me by any means but still . and then he ended up going to mt.view the next year because he moved in with his dad. and i avoided him like the plague. yeah that was rad! that was the worst dance date ever!

other than the guy that never really asked me and i didn't go with, i never went to a guy ask girl -dance with a guy from Mt. View. i asked a couple guys to girl ask guy dances. but that was the extent of my dating at mt. view. i could count on one hand how many guys and how many times i went out with a guy from mt. view.

please share your most memorable way you got asked to a dance and help my nephew out.
in the comments or email me at crazymamaof6@gmail.com.
can't wait to hear all the fabulous ways people got asked out to the dances! or the great ways you asked people out! all ideas are welcome here.

oh and on a side note i just realized the guys that asked me to dances of their own free will and choice , all met me at the Saturday night 14 year old dances. even the guy that never asked me for real. met me at the 14 year old dance. all but the worst date ever. and the boy in California that baked, i met him in early morning seminary and laughed at him the first time i met him. i was kind of snotty, when i look back on it. a snotty bi-otch with a low self esteem ? ( since i never knew guys really liked me from the boy flirting/teasing) ? how does that work? i guess i am glad that is over but if i went back to do it all over again, knowing what i know now? it would be grand! and i would totally take advantage of the fun things that high school has to offer and bag the rest of it! teasing, mind games, confusion, drama, all not the best most fun parts of high school! but then again , hindsight is 20/20!

Paige & I were asked to prom by going on a picnic but on the way we had to get gas. We picked up a bum with a bag they put in the back. This of course was all staged! I had to sit by him & he smelled awful! Later I found out he had a whopper in his pocket. We dropped him off but he left his bag and we went to the park. In his bag had everything for a picnic. On the inside of the glass we were drinking out of it said 'will you go to prom'?

Sorry hope that makes since! Another time we had to go on scavenger hunt that was fun too! I should ask my brothers, they have done some fun stuff.

Some of the best. Hunter Moore rented a gorilla suit (actually I think all the guys chipped in and they each asked thier dates this way) and rang the doorbell at like 10 at night. I go out there and find a bunch of bananas on the porch and then the gorilla jumps out, scared the living daylights outta me. Then I had to unpeel the bananas and cut them up He had used a little paper about 4x4 and wrote on one side "I'd go bananas if you went to XXX with me" and then the other side had his name, he laminated it and cut it up into 9 squares and then slid the squares into the bananas. It was a pain when I realized the I put it together only to have to flip it all over to see the name! Fun way to ask though.

Then I had a guy ask me buy having an alarm clock UNDER my bed and it went off at freaking 2 AM! Took me forever to find it and I had to go on a scavenger hunt through my house. The end was a pumpkin where he had taped little peices of papaer around toothpicks and pushed them through the pumpkin, so I had to cut it open and degut the thing to find the right one with a name.

Then MY favorite way I asked someone was I had a bunch of my friends kidnap the guy (seriously they blindfolded him and we tied his legs and arms together), then we drove all around the neighborhoods til we figured he would have no idea where he was (all in silence) and then took him to a lightpole (in front of his house) and duct taped him to it. Blindfolded still and sat and watched him for a bit, I was across the street and finally his friends let him go. I had left a sign saying "If your FREE by XX lets go to Sadies" and then I had a huge 64 oz cup of frozen yogurt (hogi yogi!) and my name was frozen in the bottom.

I am so impressed that you can remember. I can't remember anything about dance dates (at least the asking part!) I will have to keep thinking....

MAN!! I have a horrible memory, I will have to ask Trevor about this one. He probably remembers some of the ways he asked me to dances. I do recall one time being woken up from a dead sleep at 2 am to be tied up and kidnapped by like 4 guys. I think a scavenger hunt followed, can't remember details so I will have to ask Trevor.. Of course, this was all worked out ahead of time with my mom & everything so she didn't just think 4 random guys were coming in her house in the middle of the night kidnapping her daughter.. LOL.. I'll get back to ya..

My son is the nephew. He's a Senior, and after 9 or 10 dances, you kind of run out of ideas (especially since back in my day we didn't live in LDSland and do the cutesy-asking-thing). Loving you input! I'll post what we decide to do on my blog in the next day or two. Thanks so much, it's so fun to hear what you remember (and don't).

I don't remember any of mine, but what would be fun (if he really likes the girl and would want to) is arrange dance lessons at Arthur Murray, do some sort of clever thing to get her there and learn how to do a dance properly. they could learn something slow like the walt, or two step, or something fun like the West coast swing. That in my opinion, would be memorable. Who wouldn't love to learn how to dance?
