gettting ready for THANKSGIVING SHOPPING WEEKEND!

I ♥ blackfriday shopping!

ok it is getting closer the excitement is mounting! and i moved my day after thanksgiving counter to the top of my blog for all to be excited about! i have been getting the black Friday 2007 emails and the number of listings is growing and Walmart is threatening suits already for early posters of the list. this saddens me. and really makes me think WALMART SUCKS. don't they know the early listing is what gets the die hards to their store? It gets my heart fluttering and my budgeting into a frenzy . seriously if i had the gumption i might say I'd boycott walmart because of the threats , like the black Friday website is asking about . but the deals, i can't pass them up and the the years we haven't gone to the the Ghetto Walmart first have been the years the shopping has lacked it's normal luster. i call it the Ghetto Walmart because we go to the one walmart that actually closes at 11pm and re-opens at 5 or 6 am. we go early around 3am and wait in line! then we rushing in with the crowds of other people there early hoping for a cheap flat screen TV or insanely priced computer! what always seems like a hot item in our group of family and friends that shop together? is Gameboys, and cabbage patch dolls, digital cameras and cheap DVD players and somehow the sweats are a hot item too! i just can't pass up a 10 dollar cabbage patch baby and I buy not only for my girls but for me, my mom and one year even for my boys! Hello? how cute is it to have a mini cabbage patch baby in the top of a stocking!?! it is darn fabulous to baby addicts! some how i think i am the ringleader of the shopping, i don't know how it happened maybe i am the most outspoken or maybe because i drive my giant white van! but i make these rules that we we leave at an insane hour, we bring lawn chairs to sit in and wait, and blankets and coats to keep warm, and no one can piddle around on buying clothes! yeah clothes are not what black Friday is about. last year i did buy the track pants sets and the pajamas for my boys. but I'm pretty sure this was my 1 year to do that.
we split up the list while we wait in line, someone always runs to electronics, and i always go to toys.( so i can pick my own dolls.) and everyone else picks what they are getting and gets a count of what we need. kitchen gadgets, toys, sweats, TV trays, TV's, DVD players! i love to go to walmart. they better offer fabulous things this year. i am getting excited!

i use this site here. BlackFriday@gottadeal.com

and they have this stuff listed already-

Ace Hardware
Carter's
Harbor Freight
Macy's
OshKosh B'Gosh
Sears
Tommy Hilfiger
Toys"R"Us Big Book

with more coming everyday! i get the alert emails.

and they put the TOYS R US big book on there they aren't black Friday specials or doorbusters but it does give an idea what is going to be offered this year. after the dust from blackfriday settles!

so i wanna know...

have you ever gone shopping the day after thanksgiving?

would you consider yourself a die hard?

who do you shop with?

are you obsessed?

do you have fond memories of past black Friday adventures?

do you hate crowds and avoid leaving the house the day after?

do you have enough money that a bargain doesn't tempt you?

I think there will be a poll a week starting the 1st about blackfriday shopping! yay!

♫ It's the most wonderful time of the year! ♫

I ♥ blackfriday shopping!

I was actually thinking of you and Black Friday the other day while I was looking at some things for Christmas on-line, wondering if you were getting excited! But I usually don't go out that day. I can't stand crowds or lines! And I have little panic attacks if someone is getting something I may want before I can get it, and it stresses me out! But I do love a deal. And I can usually find bargains on-line. Like the boys have some video games and DVDs coming out next month, that if you preorder on Amazon, you can lock in a lower price. And with a minimum purchase of $25 you get free shipping. Plus if you have an Amazon credit card and buy all your stuff with it, you can get $25 gift cards to use again at Amazon. You just have to remember to pay off your card and not spend the money on other things. My hubby is good at searching the internet and finding things at good prices and that are hard to get. He found a Wii when everyone else was out or standing in line for one. So my goal is to have Christmas most of the way done by Thanksgiving. My sister is almost done. She sucks. She starts looking for deals at the after Christmas sales for her kids for the next year. That's one day I have gone out. I think if I had my mom and sisters here, though, I'd be more into shopping that day. But I will be thinking of you that day and wishing you happy finds!

WOOOOHoooo!!!I think the best year was when there was all the fighting before they opened the doors and the manager stood on top of the wall and yelled "Not ON MY ShiFT!!!" HAH!!! How can you beat that???

I think my favorite part is that it combines my memories of pushing to the front and fighting crowds at concerts, with my teacher-love of keeping people in line (Hah, I love whistling and yelling at rude line crashers!)

I'm always up for some two dollar Barbies and HotWheels!!!

I love to shop!! And shopping on Black Friday is the best. I usually don't go out too early. I love the crowds, the smells, the deals...the socializing w/ friends. Maybe I'll run into you this year!!

I love shopping, but for Black Friday it depends on my mood. Some years I am up and at Target at 5am, last year I attempted the 4 am line at Toys R Us, sat in my car for a bit and went home cuz I was sooo sick already. Then thankfully my brother helped me later that morning to get the few things I wanted from the sales. Sometimes I go by myself cuz I can move much faster and go out early in the morning while everyone is stll asleep at home and a couple of years I haven't left until 10 or so and made a day of it with family memebers. Don't know what I am doing this year. I would like to buy a few things now since the Toys R Us big book came today!

I am trying to have it all done by Thanksgiving. I am a kill joy. I do not like to fight the crowds or maybe it is because I gained 10 holiday pounds the day before and can not be persuaded to try and work them off!! I think it is called lazy...

I can't believe it is this time of year already! It is a great time! I am not one for crowds. I have gone twice the morning after hanskgiving. As much as I love the deals I have decided to go a little later in the day.

My SIL's and I went every year for a while, and then one SIL moved, so there was just Amazing-L and I and then last year I was sick, so I didn't go...
I am thinking I may brave it this year, especially after this post...

you totally crack me up! LOL. i've only gone once and that was when nathaniel & felicia were 2 1/2 and 1 1/2. it was freezing (in TX) and we only went to toys'r'us to get star wars figures. ben always has to work, so we haven't been again.

hey julie,

thanks for posting that website. i'm definitely going to check it out. before we had kids, we used to go out, but it's hard with little ones. we might want to go out this year though cause our dvd player seems to be dying on us. although one year we stood in crazy lines at best buy for a tv and then after black fri, it was the same price we paid for it...not cool!

I do LoVe to shop, and I do LoVe a great deal...but I don't do the crowd thing...fighting people through the doors and fighting over stuff...I worked at Target years ago and saw the nasty side that can come out of people...when you have something they want...i just usually avoid it...

I LoVe that you are always emailed on all the great deals and how generous you are to share them with us...maybe I will have to try it this year with you...what fUn is it to go shopping alone...and my husband isn't much of a shopper (holiday shopper anyway)....

I do just LoVe this time of year!! And LoViNg the cabbage patch doll idea at the top of the stalking...I LoVe cabbage patch dolls!!

I remember I would go with my mom every year after Thanksgiving. I hated it. It's the grouds. I do my Christmas shopping early and am usually done by Dec. 1 so I don't have to deal with the crowds. I wish I liked it because there are some GREAT deals. My friends Megan is die hard like yourself. Last year her son spent the night at our house so they could leave at 5:00am and not have to worry about waking him. She too is already talking about this day. However hearing you describe it makes it sound fun. I do love how you buy yourself dolls! Hope you still like me even if I don't share this obsession ;).

Last year went at the butt crack of dawn with my sister-in-laws up in Twin Falls, Id. It was my first time and I'm addicted. Didn't know of all these sights though. Now I'm really excited! Thanks for the info. Bless you child.
