so where have i been ? why no bloggy? or only little bloggy?

yeah the funk is still lingering!

there has been significant drama. and I'll leave it at that. but I haven't felt compelled to post drama.

so here is today's delights, and by the way, the bold parts give the highlights and quick easy study guide to recall thoughts for commenting.

today my MIL called and asked about the counseling, did we have a sitter for it??( since she wasn't available after all.) and i got brave and told her we wouldn't be going to counseling. we canceled out appointment. and we not going at this time. or even in the near future. wondering why? well because it wasn't' my idea. that is all. that and i think the money would be better spent on more parenting classes since arguing about parenting styles and discipline methods make for the bulk of the arguing in a marriage. that and money right? well not a lot of need to argue about it when there is sufficient for our needs. in my opinion. so i will enrollin a love and logic course for the 3rd time. and i ahve heard people judged harshly for repeating the class over and over. and my opinion is, #1. sometimes it takes a while for a concept to sink in
#2. sometimes it is easier to do if you have a reminder
#3. free parent coaching while you take the class! hello! 50 bucks an hour VS. free? um yeah, i like free. and it takes a long time for me to grasp some foreign concepts it is all about instinct VS. training. my instinct is strong and my training is weak. 'Nuf said!

AHHHH, loving my shows. Grey's, Private practice and DWTS! yowza! and i caught up tonight! yay! i got sucked into the first 10 minutes of dirty sexy money but TiVo cut the rest and i moved on to my DWTS episode instead of sitting in front of my computer to finish. later maybe.

Last night a couple friends and I went to see Good Luck Chuck! It looked funny and i wanted to see it. yes it is Rated R . get over it and judging is not allowed here! so keep the nasty, mean, judge-y thoughts to yourself. my point in admitting this choice is HELLO! tons of sex going on here. shocking amounts! and boobs tons of boobs! way too much boobs and dirty, nasty talk! loads! to the point of EWWW! so yeah if you think you might have wanted to see it and go to R rated movies on occasion, this one was over the top in my opinion. OVER THE TOP in the nasty section! we were surprised it wasn't NC-17! maybe i really am a closet prude? but i wasn't the only one thinking it was a bit much. so yeah it just isn't the f-word thrown around one too many times. it was borderline PORN! and holy cow i could only imagine seeing this on a date! it isn't a date movie! you think it might be but i don't think it would be a good date movie . well definitely not a first date , hi i don't know you, kind of date movie. NOT good ! and only a tad funny . it got bad ratings too. so if anyone wants to admit seeing it, and wants to give an opinion on it feel free. like i said closet prude? perhaps! Nah, it was totally porn!

the kids costumes came today! yup! today we got Arwen and Legolas costumes in the mail. I ordered them on Monday no less! and i have to say cheap looking, i am sad, but the kids didn't notice the cheapness of the fake velvet tunic and cheap not hemmed or even serged dress. maybe it'll look better if I iron it. i can hope it works and doesn't melt the cheap polyester fabric.
live and learn. and the fave part about the costumes? the Evenstar necklace for ARWEN ( lord of the rings people) and Peyton was dying to get his hands on the cheap bow! he really isn't going to be legolas because the wig was ridiculously stupid looking but he is going ot be an elf hunter. like on his nerd game (LOTRO-lord of the rings online) i even got the elven ear tips and Joy thought they looked like nacho ears! you know chip like.

and the highlight of the day? parent teacher conferences! yeah! i dread these.

and lucky me Joy had timeout in the Library for running around like a nut during book picking time and ditching her 4th grade helper. I'm sure the helper was trying to do her Job and Joy knows who is boss right?! yeah HER! Joy likes power. anyway. so i had the pleasure of discussing her behavior in class, doling out the crayons to people at her table and stealing other peoples Jobs to hand out papers, and fighting about being behind the line leader. she is smart but the warning and condolences i gave to the teacher at the beginning of the year are now being realized. i guess the teacher thought i was deluded and Joy was fine for the first 7 weeks. now the honeymoon is over! and the real Joy has made her presence known! i warned the teacher! and she now realizes i know what i am talking about with JOY we have no room for delusions, or coddling or entitlement issues! and i do not enable any of my kids to think they don't suffer consequences.

Peyton is smart and doing well, i guess there were tears when he only got 85% on his AR test for The Hobbit. he is in 3rd grade , and it is rated at a 6.6 reading level in AR (accelerated reading)
he has only read 3 books and tested so far, but he has the most points out of anyone in his class. he liked that. and i guess he has some test anxiety about timed tests!hello that is so my kid. not that the facts were hard but holy crap i can't think that fast. i can but it stresses me out. poor guy! i have stress that he has to to those. i hate , hate timed tests.

Paxton and Liberty still haven't had the evals (speech of Paxton and reading for Liberty) i requested at the beginning of school at the principals office. i am really quite peeved! i will be calling the office tomorrow! someone, if not many people, will be reamed on this. especially since they are all on top of the whole tardy situation but reading below grade level and getting evaluated for being reading-tarded can take a back burner and they take their sweet time.
I will become the squeaky wheel! i am all about being my own advocate!

other wise the kids are doing well in school this year. yay! just Joy's behavior and the evaluation that need worked on . it is on the top of my list. expect more on the fight in the office. hopefully i won't have to do much. but I'll do what i have to.

alright! have a happy Friday!

I dread the old parent teacher conference too!! Lightning is giving me a run for my money this year. If I survive 1st grade it will be a miracle.

Good Job - be the sqeaky wheel. My mom always was and I'm so glad. I'll have to do the same for my children! :)

I am sooo glad you spoke out about the counseling!! Too many people just sit back & let people walk on them & go past their boundaries.. Good for you!!!
I totally missed Grey's last night cuz I thought I would venture out & go to a bunko group here, YeaH, we need TIVO!! Hopefully I can find the episode online..
Let us know how the lecture to the office goes.. A lot of times, that's what they need, a push in the right direction..

i am proud of you for telling her you are not going...hope it didn't cause too much drama.

didn't see that movie and now i don't want to. i had heard somethings about it to that affect and decided to pass.

Way to go on the counseling AND the evaluations....
You are so "brave". I tend to hide from confrontation. But I'm getting better. Sweet G's teacher is "helping" me get over that anxiety!
;o)

I'm not a prude either and the last R rated movie that I ventured to (great actors, looked awesome) was total porn too and cured me of ever making that mistake again. R movies are not what they used to be! Hollywood is really pushing the limits IMO.

Yeah I'm back! I feel like I have been away for so long! I think it's great to use the money for parenting classes. I agree it takes awhile for it all to sink in it would take me more than once.

I did those L&L classes too, and implemented some of it...it worked to a point.

There's a book I love, "Parenting your Ephraims Child", or something like that. One of the author's is Theler? I think. It's an LDS based book, and I found it at Seagull book. It doesn't really give much "when your kids do this, do this:" stuff, but it sure made me understand my kids a bit better, and made me feel better about being their mom. It does give ideas about how to handle general situations. I have a few very "spirited" kids running around my house, so I have a PILE of books about parenting and discipline...I still don't have it figured out, and if I did, I'd be rich!

Good luck to you!

First of all you are missed! I miss your fun posts! I am so glad that you did let your mother in law know how you feel. I have never understood people that think they can take control of others lifes. It just doesn't make any sense! YEA! for the PTC's. It sounds like you are right on top of things! You are such a good Mom!

Movies are getting worse, but even the TV shows are too! We were watching a couple shows the other night and every single one had something to do with sex (and not minor stuff), and it was only 7:00 in the evening with the first one. I told my hubby that there were hardly any shows on that I would even let T-dog be in the room with us. And that includes some of my favorites. Is that the only thing people want to see now?

Oh and good job on NOT going to counseling.

Good 4 u telling ur MIL what u think!

Halloween costumes aren't up to my standards either, but the kids don't seem to notice. They love what they've picked out. Can't wait to see them!

Conferences are always FUN, huh! I used to dread them when Nathaniel was younger, but now I actually enjoy them. Ashley's teacher had a few interesting insights about Ashley as well. Luckily she has a pretty good sense of humor (her teacher, I mean). She also mentioned Ashley & Joy's interactions. I'll have to tell u later. Nothing big, just something funny on Ashley's end.

I have a page or two from Love/Logic parent class. I didn't go but got handouts at church. I can make a copy 4 u if you want to see them.

Yikes! I didn't mean to make this comment so long. I'll go now.
