"Did Dad leave you directions?"

so like i said earlier Lance went on a business trip. and i am here with the herd. we had a fine evening, i even made or i should say served dinner and they scarfed it down. and then we updated their blogs. messed with play lists. and piddled around. bed time is normally 8:30 but we were busy blogging. so at nine i started yelling about bedtime. and as i was tucking the girls into bed. Joy was telling me how dad does it when he puts them in bed. and what i have to do. (he layers her blankets in whatever order she says, turns on her radio, and kisses them good night.) so as i was doing this as she had instructed me. she asked me, "did Dad leave you directions?" i said ,"no, i know what to do. i don't need Dad's instructions." then she says," if you go will you leave dad instructions?" and i said," yeah i always do". (if i have to go anywhere like the hospital or out of town, there is at least a page and a half about activities, medications, outfits, and other stuff. bedtimes and everything else. and i have to pre pack all of it into outfits per person, right down to the hair bow. ) Lance does put the girls to be every night because he'll carry them to bed and do whatever they say. I'm not that nice. and i am usually out grocery shopping or having free time. at bedtime. and i plan it that way. let's be real. for all the years i had to do all of that alone while he had night classes and late nights working . yeah it's only fair. he has a turn now. plus he'd rather put them all to bed than go do the shopping for the family.

how funny. she was concerned about me not knowing how to wake her up in the morning. she said also i should softly whisper her name ,"Joy, Joy it is time to get up", and carry her to the stairs then help her get dressed. yeah in her ideal world world maybe. that doesn't ever really happen. she is a nut. in our real lives she is up before us. or we are yelling from the bottom of the stairs to get out of bed and hurry up we are late. yeah i better get everything ready tonight, for in the morning and i get to load everyone up to drive them to school. dang i think I'll miss Lance.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that. Joe puts Hope to bed, too. I figure it's the least he can do.

Ahaha! That's hilarious! Kids have the best concerns! And some of the most random requests.

That was pretty funny!! It sounds like you have some daddy's girls that have Lance wrapped around their finger!! I usually try to do shopping at bedtime too...if David is home (which isn't too often)!

Shopping is a night time thing for me too. I can't stand taking the kids with me. Such a fight...

You guys are just nice to tuck them in! We have family prayers, hugs/kisses and say "goodnight". They tuck themselves in. Occasionally Maddi has to have a parental figure help her get 'comfy in her blanket' but not too often. We check in on them as we head to bed but that's about it. I'm a lame mom, I guess.

She is hilarious!! My kids love Dad to put them to bed too. Even if I have put them in, when Dad goes in and they are still awake his routine gets done, especially with Gavin.

That is RICH! I would bust up laughing i think. Kids are somethin'else aren't they. They really do have us all figured out most of the time don't they? Good luck on your own. I know how hard that is for days on end!
