assorted delights of the weekend.

Thursday night- Joy sang at a reception for my Cousin's Daughter . Joy has been in her Primary Class (church class) all year.
they sang Kiss the Girl, and a Hawaiian song that they didn't really know the words to. Joy knew the words but was kind of lost with the actions. her friend knew the actions but not really the words. they were TOO CUTE. there were only 3 of the girls in the class there, and only 2 actually performed. Joy and Raea.
since Joy had to be there, i went with all my girls. it was the first reception they'd been to. and they thought it was FABULOUS! Cake,Punch, Nuts, Fruit, Fabulous. it was a Luau reception.

here are my girls watching the rest of the Program.

after i got home from the reception Lance went to see Dark Knight with my Brothers and loved it.
i was a tad bummed he had plans before i did since i was invited to go to the midnight show by 2 different friends to see Mama Mia, but was glad he got a night out.

Friday night-
Lance decided he was feeling pretty decent (he's been gimpy for weeks now) so he got an idea to make apple pies from scratch, i had been napping i think. and woke up to crust issues, and the kids helping peel the apples with our apple peeler/ corer /slicer. they thought it was Rad.
but Lance over did it, and couldn't begin to clean up his mess. which was HUGE! but the pies were heavenly and are now all gone. he only made 2.

after the pies were in the oven baking, we realized we hadn't had dinner so we used the apple peeler corer slicer to make curly fries, the girls peeled a whole bag of potatoes, and i fried them up. YUMMY!

Saturday? we had a Lazy day, Lance was totally gimpy by now, pierce had a fever, and i wasn't in the mood to do any overhauling by myself, so we sat around and read. Lance just read Outlander. and liked it. he's even going to read the rest of the series.
i just restarted on Twilight. i think I'm going to read the outtakes on the Stephenie Meyer website, and the first chapter of Midnight Sun while i read it this time. heehee hee. i think those add lots of insight and depth to some of the minor characters. and love the thought of Edwards perspective.

Last night i went to visit a friend that had her baby(he was DARLING!), and then went to Mama Mia with my fave girls. i liked it fine. and we had a fun night out as usual.

I'd seen the show in Vegas so i knew the story already. Meryl Streep did a great job. Pierce Brosnan was not as horrible as i thought he was going to be after reading blog posts and reviews of it. I was however disappointed by part of Colin Firth's Character. and then the sitting right next to someone else was not my fave. (wink) we got there early but the theater was packed and we ended up having people take the buffer seats. and sitting RIGHT NEXT TO US. some people can't handle that. and then the JERK sitting in front of me whined when another song started in, i flipped him the double ugly bird, and the lady 2 people over said ," IT IS A MUSICAL SIR!" i giggled at her ballsiness. and then his stupid wife and most of her group with her stood up and the end to dance in their seats, blocking peoples view. we were peeved and i told her to sit her skinny butt down, people couldn't see. i liked it, BUT i honestly don't think i can see it the 3 times i had previously arranged. it wasn't that fabulous to pay 9.50 that many times. I'd rather buy it when it comes out than waste the money seeing it in the theater.

which means no GNO with my sister in law's and no Date to it with Lance. well maybe i'll see it again, but i'm not dying to in the theater.

Sunday? Liberty came home from my mom's with a Fever. and Pierce had puked last night while i was out, SO lance and his gimpy self stayed home with them . while i took the other 4 kids to church, since i had been asked to sub in Paxton's primary class. and i had not prepared, since Lance was supposed to be helping me, i was making him teach the lesson, when that plan got thwarted? i had to wing it. it was fine. and then we played hangman.

my mom and Gary came for dinner, it was FABULOUS!

and then we took a fabulously long nap. GREAT SUNDAY!

IN OTHER NEWS-

Our schedule is SCREWED.

seriously kids staying up all hours of the evening midnight is not uncommon. for all of them. insane! but Pierce does sleep in REALLY LATE which i kind of LOVE!

we got our teacher assignments for next year and i am THRILLED! we have 2 teachers that we have had before. one Peyton had , and the one Paxton had last year. and then my Friend from singles ward is Peyton's teacher, one other one that i hope is great, she's got lots of years of experience (almost ready to retire) but it's Liberty's class, and i hope she has a good year this year.

SO excited to have that info , and Joy is THRILLED since her fave friend is in her class again. and another girl from her primary class is too. so that will be fun!

if your kids go to the same school as my kids, and we haven't chatted yet about who your kids have, EMAIL ME! it's so fun having blog friends/real life friends all in one.

so now I'm all caught up. yay! have a fab Monday! leave me tons of comments, you can tell it's summer my reader/comment count is way way down.

Ok so Questions?

Let's see...

I am planning on seeing Mamma Mia but you have me worried. I am not a very outspoken person but I have told people to be quiet and stop texting in movies more than I woudl like. It's just rude!

My kids are staying up later too but the twins its more like 9pm (instead of 8) and my older kids go to bed at 10pm. My twins still wake me up around 7am (yuck).

I get obsessive about teacher assignments. We only find out a week before. I have one I am dying for my Jacob to get.

I love buying new clothing for the season. SO fun! I am listing all my ebay stuff right now. It's daunting. UGH!

Sounds like you had a busy weekend. Sorry illness strikes.

Oh and I already reread Twilight and I love the outtakes online. I am saving Midnight Sun for a treat before the new one comes out.

Have you read The Host? I really enjoyed that one as well. I wish I had not read them all so fast! I tried to pace myself and force myself to enjoy but even then it only took a week per book.

Nice post..! Well, I like to do back to school shopping for my kids.

That comment from Alicia is an ad for something. Of course I checked it out :(
Haven't seen Mamma Mia, not sure if I will.
Love back to school shopping. I get to spend lots of money and it is justified! I can't wait to be back on a good schedule once school starts. Back to bedtime at 8!

Fries and apple pies for dinner? MY KIND OF MAMA! Yesterday we had ice cream and cookie dough/cookies for breakfast!! :-)

I *heart* school supplies. Oh I so stock up for the year! My fav is the 5 cents and 1 cent deals at Staples and Walgreens. This week Walgreens has those mini-composition books for a nickel. LOVE them. I give them to the kids during sacrament meeting to keep them busy.

We do not change our bedtime at all during the summer. It is still 8pm. No matter what time my kids go to bed they are up at 6-7am. My girls do sleep in later (like 8-9am) but that is the only change... sleeping late. I am SO ready for them to go to bed at 8! LOL

Oh and I only let my kids get one outfit for back to school. Mainly because we are still in shorts and t-shirts and in 2 months we will need winter clothes. I am not buying clothes for 2 months when they have perfectly fine clothes to wear. So we just pick out one outfit for the first day of school.

If you need backpacks and lunch boxes, Toys R Us had them on sale this week.. free lunch box with purchase of a backpack.

Your girls are too cute! :o)

Does Lance normally clean up after himself in the kitchen if he's not gimpy? Todd does NOT. At all. Ever. I love that he bakes and cooks, but he does not clean up afterwards.

Okay, so answers: when ppl are rude at the movies, I ask them "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" That normally shuts them up. If it doesn't, I go get an usher. If I pay all that money for a movie, I better darn sure get to hear every word of it. I have not seen mama mia...going to wait for video.

I've read most of the outtakes on the S.M. website. Can't wait 'til Aug. 2!!

Summer bedtime schedule. Hmmmm; the two oldest spend all summer in Virginia, so I have no clue. I'm sure Allie's up all night.

I get nervous about teacher assignments since I don't know anything about most of the teachers. The middle school out here is actually pretty good, but when Bryce starts elementary...scary thought. I might homeschool him.

My fave thing about back to school: It used to be "quiet during the day," but now that Bryce is 2, that's shot to crap. And my babysitters have all gone to school. My fave thing would have to be the look of excitement on the kids' faces on the first day.

I'm an office supply addict, too! That's what keeps me going at work!

I want to see the Dark Knight and Mama Mia. I've gotta get some babysitters lined up.

A little scared....we LOVED afternoon kindergarten! :) And ME TOO on the school supplies! Soooooo excited when I walked into Wal-mart and saw all the rows of supplies on sale....we have like 20 boxes of crayons & markers and glue up the wazoo because those are my kiddos favs and I don't mind if they get trashed at such cheap prices! Have a great week!!!

Fun weekend for you guys!
My kids bed sched. is crazy because it doen't get dark until 9:30pm in Utah! I'm not liking it for small kids.
Miss Kate is going to preschool this year so I can't frolic down the back to school supplies aisle yet! But we will do some "Going to Prechool" clothes shopping!
Haven't seen Mamma Mia yet... heard mixed reviews.
Haven't read a book since Mothers Day... so I am due!
Love that you are interested in everyone else... very thoughtful!

Sat was so fun! I was paying for it Sunday morning though and I actually did go to church! Thanks for telling that lady to sit down! I wasn't brave enough to and my comments to Linz weren't said quite loud enough over her and her friend's singing.

I am SOOOO ready for school to start back up, we may have to do lunch that first day to celebrate!

We saw Mamma Mia this weekend too. I LoVeD it!! I like musicals though. My husband had a hard time admitting it, but he did like it. He said it was better than he was expecting. At the end of our movie, everyone clapped. I wasn't ready for it to be over. :(
My kids don't think they have a bedtime in the summer either. It's always later than than I like.

Totally planning on seeing Mamma Mia...just gotta talk to my sisters about that one. They are truly the only ones who would appreciate it.

Glad that your little girls got to keep the bouquet. What a nice bride's maid.

Glad to be back and check in on your fabulousness.

And very glad my kids aren't going back to school yet! Too little for that.

♡ Oh, i'm so sorry the kids are sick!!! That sucks! I want to see Mama Mia... We have the same schedule for summer for bed time except for Emma occationally we'll let her stay up a little later.

I have read all the outtakes and Midnight Sun on Stephenie Meyers site. I have read the entire series twice (I have friends who have read them 9 or 10 times so it makes me feel less loser-ish) and I cannot wait for the new book! Are you reading the quote a day on her site? I'm even going to a midnight book release party. I'm kinda obsessed...

My summer schedule is psychotic. I decided that I should do canning this summer so I have basically let my kids do whatever they want so that I can get my canning done. Plus, we have done a ton of activities like camping and traveling and that never works with a schedule.

My favorite thing about back to school is the break from the kids. They will both be in school and preschool and I will have at least two and a half hours without kids 3 times a week. I'm pretty psyched.

I just saw Hancock at the movies and I really liked it. Except my husband's cell phone kept ringing and we were doing that whisper-yell thing at each other. So we were the rude people there. I was embarrassed. I can't wait to see the Dark Knight. I'm waiting for the hype to die down so I can get a decent seat. I wanted to see Mama Mia too but maybe I should wait until it comes out on DVD.

ok i saw mamma mia and the dark night. both were very good. but i agree about mamma mia. would not see it in the theater more than once. will get it on dvd.

love love love back to school supply shopping. but this year b/c the big guy is in middle school we have to have a super-duper (expensive) calculator and a flash drive!! what happened to pens and paper!!!

yes i have read the outtakes from s meyers site. i can't wait for the movie. can i come see it with you?

Hey, does Lance make the pie crust from scratch? Is it any good? If so, tell him I am your familis new service project and you are going to teach me how to make homemade pies! It will benefit many..I will be willing to give away pies as well as devour them myself!
Love that the woman told the man it was a musical! DUH!! She just said what everyone eles was thinking!
Tony and I went to see hancok on the opening weekend and it was packed. I got there early, and the theatre was not sold out, so I kept my purse in the seat next to me. If I HAD to I would move it, but I wanted my buffer seat!

Glad you had a relaxing weekend, you deserve it!

Our bed time schedule is definatley about an hour to two hours off depending on the day and the activities!

I have not seen Mama Mia, my hubby says it's a chick flick and he has no desire. That means a GNO to me!

As Jake is just starting Kindergarten this year, we will be getting his teacher assignment soon, I have no idea as to who is who so this will be a big surprise!

My favorite thing about back to school is school clothes shopping. It always has been and I am sure it will always be.

My kids are staying up till midnight as well...but they do sleep in so I don't mind. I am a night owl not a morning person so it works with me.

I havnt seen mama mia but I would like to, however I am afraid I won't see it till it comes out on DVD. I am in like DVD and TV Show withdrawls right now.

I'm seeing Mamma Mia on Wednesday.

I. Can't. Wait.

I'll probably be one of the rude people that stands up and dances and sings along.

I can't help myself.

Don't hate me.

Bedtime has stayed the same. I would loose my lovim mind!!Lightnings assighnment must have gotten lost in the mail. We did not get it. Weird huh?
I have had to deal with a lot of rude people in public lately and I try and diplomatically get my point across.I don't want anyone getting tooo crazy on me.

(said in Mary Murphy's voice from So You Think You Can Dance:)

YOU CRAZY NUT! YES, YOU ARE!!! YOU KNOW YOU ARE! I love school supplies, TOO!!!! Yes I DO!

Can't you just hear Mary's voice screeching that?? Hee hee!

I Love-Love-LOVE the smell of crayola crayons! I always buy extra notebooks and markers for mySELF when I hit a good school supplies sale.

Ok, now spill it. What disappointed you about Colin Firth? Was it because he was the gay guy? That's just so wrong. He's DARCY, for heaven's sake. Get back to me on that, would'ja?

Busy weekend! I remember last year at this time you were all excited to start buying school supplies. Can you believe we start in one week?

So sad I missed going to the movies with you guys. But I have to say, I can't stand going when a movie is brand new. I HATE a crowded theater. I'd much rather go after it's been out a week, and hit a matinee.

jayna said...

hey!! saw mama mia last year in the theater. LOVED it in the theater. am looking forward to the show. my favorite thing about back to school is the shopping for clothes. oh wait, i'm not IN school anymore. lol. but i'm with you, i love getting it organized with paper and pens and notebooks. when people are rude at the movies, i give them the EVIL eye. my summer bedtime schedule is just like the rest of the year ('course, I don't have kids)... asleep by 10:30 and up at 5:30. yikes. AND i left you a comment on your Andrew post... i'm always a little late on the comments, but know that i'm reading the updates when i can!

Yeah, I've been letting Mari stay up way to late! Last night she was up until 11pm! Not good. My boys are still in bed at regular time, though. Mari starts school on August 6th and I'm pretty excited...I'm not excited that she will be in school all day, but I am excited to get back into a routine (I took your poll). I am going crazy waiting for teacher assignments!! We don't get them until TWO stinking days before school starts. Lame I tell you!! I heard a rumor that Mari is getting the teacher I want her to have, so that is making it doubly hard for me to wait!! ARGH!

Andrea said...

I would have been so upset if those ladies stood up in front of me too!! The nerve of them!!! Geez! Glad you said something! You just can't do that kind of stuff when it's a crowded theater! c'mon crazies!! ha ha

Ashley is THRILLED to be in the same class as Joy again!! Found out their boy-friend is in their class again too! HAHA

Our sleep schedule is total chaos right now!! I'm a total night owl {like you didn't already know that}!! I don't really care what time they go to bed as long as it's before me. LOL :)

I guess I better start weening them off the summer schedule and back onto the school schedule! Wish me luck!!!
