light bulb moment documented

occasionally i impress myself with my own genius! it's rare. and often i fail to notice how smart it really is but tonight i TOOK NOTE. and i feel compelled to share.

today is wacky Wednesday($1.49 kids meals at sonic). and Lance is out for the evening(D-backs game with a friend). and that means we had wacky packs from Sonic for dinner. easy enough, right? sure except they change their order 15 times between telling me the first time and actually ordering at the drive through. i made them choose before we left, i wrote it down, no changing after i wrote it down. that and getting the right order from the worker there. that is often a challenge too, they get over whelmed when i come order 7 wacky packs. all different with beverages. and the kids always want to change their order still, after the fact.

well the only one that doesn't do that to me is Pierce.

Photobucket

i am the boss. he gets a corn dog, and fries, and a beverage. this is where my genius comes in. sure he'd love a slush, but those are sticky. So the baby gets

Diet Coke

diet coke. yeah he likes it fine. and more importantly it isn't sticky if he spills it or drops it. TADA! genius. no sticky mess.

Well during dinner tonight at the table at home, he drops his cup on the bench, it spills, and gets all over the floor! CRAP! Liberty, hurry get a towel. she does and wipes the bench leaving the floor, still puddled with SODA! i look at it from time to time. still sitting there, dreading the clean up, and just as I'm grabbing a couple towels, and wetting them down to mop up the spill a light bulb went on in my head. I gave him diet tonight. one towel will take care of it. and ONCE AGAIN i am a GENIUS! Triumph! SUCCESS! my planning ahead for the inevitable paid off yet again! all i had to do was remember i got diet, i planned for it. and not freak out. or put it off thinking it's a bigger mess than it really is.

I'm feeling downright awesome about it. thanks for sharing this moment when i remembered sometimes, i do things right. the things i do make sense . and i have mastered something in my life. feeling fabulous! and don't knock giving him diet, he prefers dark soda. this way it's a compromise.

ok I'm adding ??'s to this post.

? do you forget how smart you are, and fail to give credit where credit is due?

? do people question your methods? ( odd things to other people that make perfect sense to you)

? what are they? share.

? are you more likely to doubt yourself, or are you a master of the overinflated self esteem?

? what kind of beverage do you get at the drive through with your kids meal?

I totally forget how smart I am... and LOVE to be surprised by my genius!

I doubt myself constantly, but try not to let anyone know....

My kids are into Dr.Pepper at the moment....only with lunch though. With dinner it's no caffeine baby!!

And I forgot!! Good one on the diet! I would NEVER have thought of that.

HEHEHE! You are the first person I've met that gives their kids diet coke too Ü
I do it because it's what I drink and they have been horking mine since they could sip out of a straw. Way to go thinking ahead!!
Doubt myself constantly. Trying to be better.
Sometimes I am just odd period.
umm I am tired, am i even making sense at this point??

you are awesome!!

i don't get credit for anything unless it is bad. typical

i am questioned everyday!
why did you do that that way?
why did take that?

i constantly doubt myself.

caleb usually gets reg. coke or rb, but i am thinking of going for diet for all my kids cause the spills kill me

I'm too tired to remember all the questions that you asked, but I always give my kids sprite or 7-up because I'm too afraid to see what happens if they have caffine. They already don't sleep enough in my opinion. Good job on thinking ahead! I'm still laughing when I think about you spraying Dr. pepper in your hair.

My husband questions evrthing,so by default, ME!! So what, I still do it my way and my kids love rootbeer so the older ones get rootbeer and the babies get sippies until they are three because I just refuse to even go there yet. I have enough messes:)

Congrats on the moment of genius!!! When I have those moments I make sure my hubby knows and I get credit for it. I usually do rootbeer or sprite for the kids- I rarely let them choose. When we go to sonic it's cherry slushes all around. My youngest still spills drinks that are in regular cups but when it's in a cup with a lid and a straw we don't have the spills to clean up.

Yes!!! One of the many good qualities of Diet Coke!!! My kid gets Sprite, because the stain bugs me worse than the sticky.....

hoestly, my kiddos get chocolate milk if we do hit the drive-thru...which is very rare! (remember, I live in the middle of NOWHERE!) Cam prefers soda....but rarely gets it and if he does ONLY sprite...but Austin loves his milk! :) I am always doubting myself...I, unfortunately, think that is what mommies do sometimes. We are always so afraid of others judging us when really they need to keep to their own lives and their own business! You're a great mom and there is NOTHING wrong with sonic for dinner or diet coke...if that is what you think is best...YOU ARE THE MOM!

I'm laughing because you blogged your brilliant moment. I have to share my smart moments too, usually with the hubby so he can see just how smart I was.

Taylor usually gets a cherry DP at Sonic. Connor will get either DP, RB, or sprite. I get either vanilla coke, or a lemon berry slush - mmmmm! And I have never once thought of giving them diet. I didn't even know they would be less sticky.

See, you're brilliant!

I totally doubt myself all the time! It is a great moment when I realize that I have done something smart!
When we go out it my kids usally like sprite! Sometimes they want a pepsi or a coke so I let them.

YOU ARE a genius!!!
LOVE that you get him Diet Coke. It's fan-freakin'-tastic!!!

PS, I totally doubt myself. And I am glad for this post, because I will for sure start looking for the things that I do that are so darn smart!!

i love when you ask questions. i think i am going to start doing that!

? do you forget how smart you are, and fail to give credit where credit is due?
no. i know i am a genius, i never doubt that. lol

? do people question your methods? ( odd things to other people that make perfect sense to you)
never. i reign supreme around here

? what are they? share.
oh honey the list is FAR too long, it would be a post in itself, who has time? i need to go and save the world once i am done here.

? are you more likely to doubt yourself, or are you a master of the overinflated self esteem?
totally over inflated...yet humble, no?

? what kind of beverage do you get at the drive through with your kids meal?
ALWAYS diet pepsi...but i only eat taco bell drive thru. places that serve burgers and fries make me gag a little. it is something from my childhood i think. i have NEVER in my whole life eaten at McDonalds, it's the smell...true fact.

why yes anonymous i do! in fact i said that the sentence after i said i got him a diet coke. and then in the last paragraph before the questions, second to last sentence. i said DON'T KNOCK IT!
he drinks diet all the time from a can. he has been drinking it as soon as he could drink from a straw, and beg sips from grandma. and he prefers it to kiddie drinks, and even the dark coloring of root beer doesn't tempt him, he knows the difference. he likes the caffeine. if i buy the kid a nice fruity slush, he eats it with his hands. that is a nice sticky mess. and it always gets spilled.

so what part are you judging? becuase by your comment i assume you are judging something harshly, is it the caffeine? the diet part? the soda? is it the chemically engineered sugar substitute? REALLY feel free to clarify, OH and be sure to sign your name. thanks. an email would be great too. so i can respond directly.

Ok I didn't know diet drinks weren't sticky!! I hate diet stuff, I can never get over the after taste, Oh but the drive-up people have given me diet before, PLEASE don't mess with my Dr. Pepper, it taste fine just like it is, so as you can tell, I drink dr. pepper.
My children get lemonade or milk or shakes, i try not to give them soda, I am way to addicted to d.p. and I want to hold them off as long as possible however they do sneak it out of my cup once in awhile.
I try not to doubt myself, i usually don't, I have always felt like I was blessed with a very strong intuition, my husband agrees and doesn't doubt me either. Doesnt' mean i am always right though, but don't tell my children that :).

? do people question your methods? Yes, sometimes. Mainly how we handle Brittany's outbursts and saying F YOU in public. By walking away & not laughing.

? are you more likely to doubt yourself, or are you a master of the overinflated self esteem?
NO

? what kind of beverage do you get at the drive through with your kids meal? What ever they ask for. I could careless if they drink caffeine. They all had it in-utero, so why cannot they have it now?

But beer and any form of alcohol is out of the question. LOL
