Monday MANIA! the price of eating fast food for our family of 8

sometimes i wonder if i'm not bi polar. the ups the downs. the co curring disorders. well. darn. today is a rush around scramble to catch up kind of day. i need to get this under control.

Peyton went for his last arm check up. it's great. awesome range of motion. they will check again in 9 months to see if the bones grew back normally or extra. and make sure it is still awesome in APRIL. long time away.

we hit IN 'N' OUT for Lunch. pretty cheap i must say for fast food.

have you ever noticed how much each place costs to feed your family?

today at In N Out it cost me $16.54 or something like that. 6 burgers, a double double animal style, 2 orders of Fries and 2 waters.

i heard the order and mentioned that it was cheap to myself and Peyton wondered why i thought it was. so i told him.

McDonald's runs around $30 for the family and we don't get happy meals or value meals. or Drinks. Just Nuggets 40, 2 value fries, cheap burgers for me. and cheap burgers for the boys and Lance. Or the family nuggets thing that comes with fries and drinks (if we are at a McDonald's that offers that bargain)

Wendy's runs roughly $12-15 all value menu, no drinks. depends on how hungry everyone is.

Sonic wacky Wednesday. whole family $15 bucks only 7 wacky packs. and a giant drink for me.

Taco bell? about 22 bucks. the kids like mexican Pizza. and supreme items. with sour cream.

Chinese food for me and Lance and the kids? $25. at a hole in the wall mom and pop place we pick up food from. we don't go out to fancy resuraunts with the whole FAMILY.

Barro's Pizza? just me and the kids? $12 with Lance? $26 since he likes to get wings too.

Little ceasars. whole family 2 hot and ready pizzas, 2 crazy bread, 2 sauce? $17.

Mi Amigos is a real Mexican food resuraunt. we do the happy hour menu, and rarely get drinks for me and Lance water for the kids. it's been about $35 lately. But we figured out i don't need a burrito anymore. so we get 2 plates of mini chimis, 2 cheese crisps, and a crisp taco. plus tip. gotta love walking away stuffed. and really it's the only place i'm brave enough to take the family. the whole family. and they are good there. they know how to act there.

alright so that is what it costs us when i don't cook and we are lucky enough to go out.

How about you? do you think about it?

or do you just go out? it doesn't matter what it costs.

i wish that was the case. depends on the time of the month. how free we are feeling with the funds, and when we got paid, or are getting paid, or if we are out and just have to eat out.

Oh and i bought lunch boxes and told the kids. if they eat the lunch snacks they have to just have a sandwich and THAT IS IT! i think they will keep that in mind as they eat ten bags of mini chips. lesson learned. Oh and turns out. taking a lunch is highly coveted in my house. JOY is so stoked to have P,B & J Everyday like Ashley!
and she even told me , "you don't have to make sandwiches if you buy "uncrustables"! " AWESOME!

Peyton said he wants just Peanut butter though for the protein. whatever! we'll see how long it lasts.

my house is NIGHTMARISH!

i just put Pierce down for his nap. when he's fussing and wanting to sit on my lap i know it's time to put him in his crib and walk away. he naps way longer in there than on my bed.

i'm turning on my playlist now and getting down to work. have a fab monday!

So what's it cost for you to eat out?

what do you listen to while you clean?

do you bribe your kids to help out?

( i feel some bribes and threats coming on, here comes Mrs. Hannigan. "' til it shines like the TOP OF THE CHRYSLER BUILDING!")

does a Drill sargeant? or Mrs. Hannigan come to your house when it's time to clean?

do your kids listen to Mom better or Dad when asked to do chores?

We eat out a lot. I am not a very good cook. In fact I SUCK!!! and don't enjoy it. Sometimes I feel guilty and will cook a meal but its always the same stuff. I can't imagine feeding all those kids. We have 3 adults when we go out so it does get a little pricey sometimes. I can't get away with McDonald's or Taco Bell or any of those places. Bummer huh!!

Hey, do you guys have CiCi's pizza out there? It's not very good pizza in my opinion but lots of people do love it. For feeding your battalion of troops though it ought to be unbeatable in terms of value?

We don't eat out very much. One, Luvpilot eats out all the time when he's on the road. And two, it's too dang expensive, and I only have two kids! Once a week is max, IF that. Connor won't eat burgers or chicken nuggets or tacos anyway. We'll get Panda and spend like $30! for the 4 of us. They have to have the fried shrimp and the rice and the chow mein, then two entrees for the adults. Or they like to go to Sweet Tomatoes, but then again it's $25. Pizza is about the same. Luvpilot won't eat cheap pizza. It has to be Barro's or Pizza Hut, and it has to have extra cheese. I think we finally are able to eat at Taco Bell only because there's Long John Silver with it, and Connor will eat the corn on the cob from there. He sounds picky, but really he is just healthy. Give that kid a huge bowl of fresh fruit and veggies and he's in heaven. I've found that fast food for us lately is stopping in Fresh & Easy and getting them all sandwiches, salads and fruit cups.

I was just telling Bruce last week to have you guys get me your blog info...lol. I bet we Christensen's all blog with some of the same sort of humor. Glad you found me, I have to run but I will be back to read your cute blog tonight. The Cook's are starting to blog too, but I haven't linked them yet. I will do that soon, so we can all find each other.

I think we spend more than you. A bit. And I HATE it.

I HATE eating out just because it costs so much! We really ONLY eat out when the boys are heading out for AZ....their little treat and they always pick McDonlad's....which runs around $15 for now....but once all the kiddos start eating happy meals....well, I may just take Cam & Austin! My kiddos won't even know what eating out is!!! You guys do so awesome for so many kids.....I'll have to live up to you! :)

Not as much as you because we only have two kids!!!
I think we're even more convinced on being done after this post....LOL

i pay attention ... probably the no income thing. molly and nolan are eating more these days and the cost to eat out seems to have gone up recently because of it. it cost us overe $15 for TB the other night. yuck ... not worth $15 to me. to go to a sit down restaurant (a cheap one) always runs us $25 or closer to $30. we spent almost $20 at McD's up in Palmyra ... INSANE! I'd much rather go to a sit down restaurant and pay the extra $5-10 than to spend that much at fast food. Sonic is expensive for us, but we don't hit it on wed night.

It depends. If we eat like at Wendy's we'll spend about 20-25 bucks 5 boys you know and if we eat at a sit down place it's any where between 60-80 bucks. Yeah it sucks! We TOTALLY bribe our kiddos to help and they know if my home isn't up to my standards they're hating it. I plug in my I-pod or we turn to the disco station on the TV it's fun to clean to. My older boys are at the age where they're thinking I'm a weirdo. Oh well! Glad you're feeling better.

We've been eating out way to much and since prices have gone up I have to stop. But it is nice sometimes to just go get something and saves me having to have to do dishes. This is why I started having a group of people get together and plan menus for one week. The recipes will be with each menu and easier to use. Right now I have at least 6 weeks worth. Good stuff for me and hopefully help with not going out as much.

Yeah, so my teenager alone costs more than your family of 8 to feed at most of those fast food places you mentioned! And I don't even want to remember what it's like when we have one of his teammates with us.

I tend to think we eat out a lot compared to when i grew up but my kids tell me we hardly eat out!!! It's hit or miss sometimes - when I'm just too darn lazy to cook - we eat out!! But I'm not a regular - like one of my friend's eats out every Friday night without fail... too unpredictable here!

We went to Subway, and the kids grabbed all kinds of crap and it ended up costing me $25!!! I could have died!

We don't eat out very often, but tonight we'll go to pizza hut. It's buffet night and kids eat free!! WooHoo! Gotta love that.

As for cleaning, my kids clean under threat that I'll go clean their rooms and if I do it all I need are garbage bags, and I'll only have to clean it one time then there'll be nothing left to clean. lol But, for the rest of the house, they clean when they want money. But hey, they don't get much and I'll take whatever works!!

Well, we don't eat out all that often but if we do it's usually around $20 to $25 because everyone wants their own meal. I try to save the eating out for when the older two are at school, I just take Katherine and sometimes we meet up with Cody, it's much cheaper that way sometimes only $12 at the most(that's at lunch time of course).

My kids have chores and they don't get bribes for it, they get "privliges" like sleep overs or T.V. time, on the rare occasion that I reward them they get to go to the Q.T. and get a slurpee. I am sure they think I am mean but that's how it goes, if you live in my house you have to help, regarless of your age, even Katherine helps.
p.s. Bunko was fun, I am glad you had a good time and Breanna was teasing about the prize, she did want it but she likes what she got and by the way what is up with the sub always winning a big prize?

We don't take the kids out too often anymore to the sit down restaurants. At least not all together. We actually did that last week and it cost $50. It's just not worth it! Brian and I usually go out on our date night once a week and spend around $30 or less. Or I'll take one or two kids at a time and it won't be as much.

On Wednesday the Cheesecake Factory is having $1.50 slices of cheesecake all day. We might show up there for dessert!

First off ~ I love this post. I always love your posts, but I'm really loving this one! I've been a little too aware of how much everything has gone up in price lately! My grocery bill has almost doubled! I need to get back on my coupon thing.
Anyhow, Wendys is about $16 for us. With Drinks. Scott & I just went to our little "hole in the wall" chinese place the other night. Just the two of us and no drinks it was $28! Holy hell!

I think it's a little of both Miss Hannigan and a drill sgt. when it's cleaning time! It depends on how irritated I am with the disaster!

Oh & my kids listen to their Dad WAY better than their Mom! I have to pull teeth to get someone to listen to me! And then I have to call them back 6 times for the job to actually get finished properly. I think I need to beat kids more!

Good Luck with the family clean day Miss Hannigan!

If you don't bribe your kids to clean, the work isn't getting done. (I am pretty patient, but I have a limit. If they are working, I turn into the biggest B drill sargeant.)

Love the post! A dose of reality eh?
We spend even more eating out as my son who is almost 16 eats like a freak of nature. Who would of thought that the human body could hold so much food?
Our home teachers came by tonight and my husband was HORRIFIED by how messy the house was...whatever...

That's why we don't eat out very much! tonight Ben and I got chinese food from the takeout at Bashas'! I think it was in the low $teens. Yummy! But gave the kids taquitos and mini corndogs. ha ha.

Yep, MRS drill sgt visits our house during chores! Although, they haven't wanted to listen lately. UGH!! Need to get stuff cleaned up & organized for school to start. I'm waiting for school to start to de-junk the kids' rooms. I'll get more done with them gone.

Now if I can just tackle my island. It's the never-ending HOT SPOT!!
