I'd like to report a stolen pumpkin... photostory friday

Photobucket

Pierce went on a walk again on Wednesday.

over and over he kept escaping.

i swear i should tether the kid in the yard. like the animal he is. (kidding, totally kidding, don't go reporting me to CPS or anything, but seriously what can i do?)

anyway. he came home, escorted by 2 men and a bull dog. from an unknown location, bringing home a baby pumpkin. (it's technically a pie pumpkin, small, but not mini)

Photobucket

some poor kid lost their pumpkin . to my kid that absconded with it while he was roaming the streets alone.

and we can't even return it. because we don't know where he went to steal it.

it's decorated with love, in what looks like marker or pen.

(at this point it's been mostly rubbed off from handling)

it has a self portrait, and says " i Luv Halloween".

so if you live in the vicinity and are missing your pumpkin

we have it and are asking for a ransom for it's return. ;)

Photobucket

Pierce has carried this sucker around, like it's his pet.

Photobucket

he slept with it. and lugs it around like a ball.

poor deprived kid. resorting to stealing pumpkins because i neglected to purchase any.

mostly because i am anal retentive about how it's carved. and yet lack the skills or the gumption to see it done right.

plus i am not a fan of moldy rotted pumpkin and in this heat, it takes a day after carving until it's funkalicious.

that coupled with the fact i'm too cheap to "waste money on a pumpkin".

last year Joy brought a mini one home decorated from kindergarten, she hoarded it. and then stored it on her bunk bed. we found it molded to dust and funky, underneath it, some (roughly 6) months later.

that's a proud mother moment i tell ya.

i was kidding about the ransom, and if you know a broken hearted child who recently lost their lovingly decorated pie pumpkin.

Photobucket

i have it, and will gladly return it to you,

(preferably before it goes to mold in some unknown recesses of my home,

mostly likely the vortex also known as my basement family room.)

Hey i hope your Halloween weekend is full of wonder!

Stay safe and have fun!

This was brilliant. And so honest too!
Personally, I use one of those invisible fences for my kids -- it's only obvious, when they try to leave the yard - ZAP!
That's a joke, of course. I wouldn't do that.
Here's hoping the pumpkin's owner finds you, before the pumpkin finds a deep dark hole to hide in for six months.

I just remembered this story I should share with you. Our chapel is around the corner from us (of course it is...this is Utah!) Anyway, one of the mom's in the ward was telling me that earlier this year, she got a knock on her door from one of the high councilmen in our ward. Apparently he saw her 3 year old at the church....she didn't even know he was gone! She went to the church to find him. He was in the chapel, and had plopped himself up in the choir seats to enjoy Sacrament meeting of the ward that meets before us! Yep, she had to walk all the way up onto the stand to get him with the meeting going on! I guess he figured it was Sunday and he was going to get his church attendance over and done with! ;)

Oh how funny. That is classic, not only is he a "runaway", but "petty theft" too. You must have nerves of steel. :)

That is too funny. I have one that escapes all the time too. It gets very frustrating, I know. When you figure something out to keep them from escaping, please let me know. Ugh!! I just want to kick her freakin little butt!!! :)

♥ Who knew that a pumpkin was better than any toy... I'm always amazed at what my kids play with like sticks and boxes rather than toys! :)

I was driving down the street with my family when a dog ran out in front of us...followed by a little boy wearing only a shirt! We pulled over. We asked the little boy where he lived-which was directly accross the street. We got the dog and the boy and took them home. The look on the mother's face told us she didn't know the boy was out let alone streaking through the neighborhood. Happy Halloween.

Way too funny! I mean really MY kids would never do something like that! ha ha ha, hope you caught the sarcasim!

That's cute, I can just see him lugging that pumpkin all over the place. At least you don't have to take it outside to take care of business or feed it like other pets!
