ignore this if i have done this recently, i thought about a laundry post for a long time, did i do it? still this is more my reality ....

i have learned to simplify the wardrobes, like only buying basic jeans and denim bottoms, for the most part, well red is basic too isn't it? so instead of buying cute light pink skirts and matching shirts and socks and blah blah blah that i used to buy at gymborree, i buy the basics and they fit in one of many categories of loads of laundry i have. and I have been wondering , did i post about this before?

my laundry sorting issues????????

i have these loads... that i sort into and then i will star for you how many of each i have. enjoy this. and be glad it isn't you!

  1. blacks**
  2. denim******Large loads- think mega loads!
  3. whites**
  4. bleach-able whites***
  5. reds*** i mix in all of the reds range unless they are new , then they go into the new pile
  6. pinks (see reds)
  7. purples(see reds)
  8. Orange(see reds)
  9. greens **
  10. yellows *
  11. khakis **
  12. light colors *
  13. towels ******
  14. blankets ********
  15. rugs **
  16. sheets (if i washed the sheets, i rarely do) ***** ( mine, boys, girls, Liberty's , and babies)
  17. new clothes that might bleed onto something else ** like reds, blacks, denim, greens loose a lot of dye the first wash sometimes.
  18. Stuff that i don't want to risk bleeding on itself-stripes, plaid, polos with a white collar *
  19. hand wash- my new green shirt, may never be seen again, it is hand wash, and my Neptune washer is broken so i really will have to hand wash this, instead of the hand wash cycle. it wasn't that cute. goodbye green shirt. I'll save you in the corner to think about washing when i see you there.
  20. dry clean only ( almost never gets washed again after the 1st time ) i never make it to the dry cleaners. i reserve the dry cleaning for velvet holiday dresses from GYMBOREE, why the heck do they make dry clean only dresses for babies that spit up and poop on their clothes? why? and i generally like them the best. stupid. i make it a point to never buy anything dry "clean only" for myself. if it says it is "dry clean only" i put it back on the rack! but for the baby? sure i am dying to have a pink sil dress from baby gap! dry clean only? ok! velvet dresses for a toddler in nursery? for sure! that will be lovely! stupid!
and why the heck do stores put "wash separately" on the tags/care labels? sadly i feel compelled to do it! and Lance is not so much a fan of 1. the wasted water used for one shirt at a time washing, and 2. that i do it on occasion . but now i just buy one for each kid, and wash all 3 or 6 of them together, and hope that still counts as separately. and once again only Gymboree does that. stupid!

then i have to admit i hang virtually everything to dry on a hanger. or over the tops of cabinets and doors. at my last house we didn't have the mega rack to hang on and it was way lame. but we would have my jeans or shirts on top of all the doors all the way down the hall , drying. the kids stuff fits great on the cabinet doors .

and i hang out
  1. all the girls shorts and skirts, ( i hate a rolled hem)
  2. all of the girls dresses and tops too. (so i just dry underwear and PJs for them.
  3. all of the kids swim wear especially the girls
  4. all of my jeans and my shirts unless it is old and been dried before or i don't care about it.
  5. all of the dress pants for the boys
  6. all of Pierce's clothes (except cheap onesies and socks, i do dry those)
  7. all of the boys new or GOOD t-shirts and polos
  8. all of the dress shirts, unless they say wrinkle free
  9. all sweaters
  10. the boys new shorts if i have space. so they don't have rolled leg hems, or fade.
  11. the boys new jeans and khaki's to avoid fading.
would you say i am OCD about my laundry? i make Lance do it this way too now, sometimes something slips by him into the dryer but he is generally fabulous about it. and more careful than i am sometimes. since sometimes i wouldn't mind if something got ruined, and i could justify getting something new. not that i need justification , but it is nice on occasion!
and thus the issue with no place to hang the clothes out anymore, yes i have still NOT PUT AWAY the clothes in the laundry room, but i made a short video of that night mare for your viewing pleasure. later, when i get a turn on the good computer for 5 minutes I will upload it and post. i am actually afraid the bar is going to snap from the weight. but still, i avoid doing it. smart.

Yes you are OCD about it! I am telling you Whites, Not Whites, Sheets, Towels that is it and if there isn't enough Towels and Whites to make a full load they can share their dip in the water. SIMPLE, but I dry everything too, I hate that I have a few shirts that need to be hung to dry, cuz I never remember and I hate crusty denim, I love it soft and warm fresh out of the dryer!

I actually have a super-cozy chenille baby blanket someone gave me (from Target) that is supposed to be dry-clean-only!!! What a joke. Someone needs to have a talk with that Amy Coe!

HOLY COW!!! Do you do this once a week? You would die if you saw how I did laundry! All darks together, whites and then lights. I will never complain about how much laundry I have to do again! How nice that Lance will do it & the way you like it done. And, I dry almost everything & don't even get me started on ironing! Mike & I have very different ideas on that.

if they made clothes like they used to we wouldn't have to air dry them! The dryer makes them shrink so much I think everyone HAS to air dry or loose a new shirt! My favorite stain remover is oxi-clean spray and oxi-clean powder in the wash. I have one whole load of pink! I thought that was bad untill I saw how much you have! You are a miracle mom!!!

I forgot to mention that my sis-in-law has 10 kids and she would think you have it easy! (I'm not sure if that makes you feel better but think about adding in 4 more and laundry too!) wow!
