ON our way!

ok so i got the kids farmed out. and Borrowed a different leather coat than mine. PLus a bunch of sweaters and some boots, since i don't own any real shoes. My ward friend Janeen loaned me a few scarves and some gloves. an they happen to match my hat i bought yesterday. I'll take pictures of my outfit. and post them when we get back. or later anyway. Black dress pants, black and cream striped silky top and a black Velvet dressy Jacket. there was debate whether a dress would be better but Lance wanted none of that. and said to just wear that outfit i bought for it. poor guy has to wear his suit all day. and has a meeting as soon as we get into Portland. The party is tonight. and we'll have all day tomorrow to do something. HOPEFULLY, but have no idea what to do. Tips would be great from anyone that lives around there. or has just traveled more than me. plus i have a whole lot of hours to hang out alone while he is in meetings. so where should i go? what should i do? i figured i'd make my way to the mall or maybe just go hangout at the hotel, and read alone! whoohoo quiet time. let's be real i'm gonna go shopping. but still.
OK so i'll be around so check often people and be sure to miss me.
AND if you haven't done my Holiday Questionnaire. do it and comment and let me know so i can check out your answers! it'll give me something to read.

oh and on the airport news? "Temperatures drop in Portland." with snow images? i think it is obvious i don't "get" living in cold places with weather. and am still living in fear of being cold. that and yes, we will go from car to hotel, and hotel to car. there will be heaters . and if it is too cold we won't do much tomorrow with our free time. somewhere with heat, and a roof probably. we aren't outdoorsy anyway.

so do you have any good ideas about what to do in Portland?

did you do the holiday faves questionnaire? I'm considering it now 20 question thursday. maybe I should add ten and have it 30 question Thursday?

You guys will definitely have to go the Japanese rose garden! It's beautiful! If your brave and it's not too freezing you have to go up to Multomah Falls!!!! Another GORGEOUS place!!!!!!! They have some cool malls there too. I'll have to ask Will which ones since I never knew how to get around that place while I was there...way too confusing. Oh and walking around downtown Portland is always neat. OH and while your there you have to buy some Tillamook mint chocolate chunk ice cream and eat some just for me!!!! It's the BEST!!! You can only get Tillamook ice cream in the great NW...not here in boring AZ! bummer. I miss that place so much!!! I'm jealous.

Oh, and you'll survive the cold. It's really not that bad. I would wear my wool pea coat with gloves and a hat when I would visit in the winter and I was usually warm enough.

Portland is so beautiful- even if you just drive around and look. I Second the suggestion to go to Multomah falls and the japanesse gardens. They have good shopping, but really portland is so beautiful I'd try to see some of it's beauty while I was there. I'm not outdoorsy either, but it really is breathtaking. Downtown has some fun places to shop. Are you staying in downtown? There is some underground tour that I would avoid. It's kind of dumb. The temple in Lake Oswego is beautiful. If the weather is bad I'd drive there just to take a look so you'd still be in your warm car. Have fun.

Did you get my email? Portland is beatiful for it's outdoor wonders. The Japanese gardens are great......Multnomah falls, and there are great malls. If you are staying right in downtown, there's a big mall there. If you are closer to Lake Oswego (and the temple), Bridgeport and Washington square are great mall. Bridgeport is outside...I was out this morning with a light jacket and scarf and I was fine. Around 11 it didn't feel as cold. YOU'll be FINE, but will want to bundle a bit if you are outside a lot. My email is jagelees@yahoo.com if you have an specific questions.
