Holy crap i am flipping out!

tomorrow is out quick trip to Portland (until Friday) and holy crap i looked up the weather? 41 today, 44 tomorrow, and 40 for Friday? with Rain/snow showers!

I am an AZ girl! what do i do for that? i don't own winter clothes! no sweaters, no hats, no scarves, no gloves. no warm jackets. and i don't do cold. what am i gonna do? is it really that cold? and here i am freezing from 51 degrees and sunny/slightly cloudy. really i am cold at 73 in the winter. but the AC on 73 in the summer is ok. i know it is odd.

so yeah . getting crap packed for me and Lance, plus all 6 kids. who are staying with my mom. so they have to have their Junk together. busy day! and i am quietly flipping out and wondering why i said i wanted to go. i am not a fan of traveling, what ifs pop up and lots of extra planning, and expense. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh going on a trip. whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?
plus i won't know anyone there. Lance only knows a few people, but will have to meet all the big wigs, like the president of the company, and the VP. plus the HR guy and the guy he chats with online all day, that works in CA. It should be nerve wracking to say the least. i am not a fan of meeting people for the first time. makes me wonder if i make a decent first impression. if i come off like an idiot, or they think i am not cute,or fat, and dumb. Plus these are all professionals and the wives are professionals. and then there is me, a novelty with the six kids and stay at home mom title. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! ok back to work. enough flipping out for now.

It's always stressful for me before a trip! Don't worry they will love you. Mesa Thrift and Last Chance have great deals on big warm coats. And, I have lots of hats, gloves & scarves you can borrow.

Ummmm, yeah....don't want to burst your bubble, but that is cold, especially with it being wet...for whatever reason, when it's WET and cold, the cold seems to seep into your body and you can't shake it. I would just call whoever you know and find a warm coat, borrow hat, scarf, and gloves....or Wal-mart and Target usually have winter sets for the holidays right now...but that is in Utah, where it is cold!

My suggestion is layer, layer, and layer....

I'm sure that you will do great. Don't worry about what people think of you. Just be yourself, and if they don't like it, their loss! and have fun on your quick , albeit cold, holiday vacation with no kids!!!! Lucky!

I hate getting ready for a trip, but love it once I am gone! Once you are on the plane, just relax and enjoy Lance. You will have a blast! Oh yeah, just stay inside the whole time! I will miss you! I always love reading your blog all day!

40 isn't too bad, but sounds like for you it might be. Take your warmest clothes and borrow/buy cheap a big warm coat and you'll be fine. About the meeting people. I haven't even met you in person and I already think you are fabulous! And all those women will be so jealous of you because I'll bet they'd all love to be doing exactly what you do! Just be yourself and have fun! And enjoy the time away from kids with just your hubby!

From one sun worshipper to another ... your gonna freeze your buns off! :) I remember the first time it got 40-ish here ... I think I had on 2-3 sweatshirts & then the heaviest coat I owned at the time (which wasn't that heavy). Rain/wet isn't good ... snow at those temps is better cause at least it doesn't soak you. Wear a few pairs of socks and like someone else said ... layers are KEY! Borrow what you can. You might also try Sams or Costco for a coat. Down is the best and will keep you the warmest. Wool would be my 2nd choice. If you have a choice, get something with a hood on it. A hood-less coat with a hat is just not the same!

Aright just moving from AZ and I'm sitting here in 29 degree weather at this moment freezing my BUTT off. My suggestion is layer what you wear. If your head and feet are warm you should be good. How fun though ,I would LOVE to get away with my hubby right about now. You're going to have a BLAST It's SO pretty up there. Have a TON of fun.

You are gonna be cold. But, you are gonna be inside right? Like with a heater? You'll be fine. But's a good excuse to buy some cute warm clothes. Do they sell those in AZ?

As for the "gay" news. I wouldn't go to the breakfast thingi either. I'm glad that you can get it all out here on the blog. That's very theraputic.

I am with zb, you will be inside most of the time right? If you have to buy a sweater or two, pack them so you have them if you need them, if not you can return them when you get back. Have fun! I am sorry I missed you guys this morning! I will have to swing by and pick up that bank or we will just get together once you are back!

Hope everything goes well on your trip!! I am with ya, I am totally an AZ weather girl trying to get used to 30 degree weather & snow!! Just run the heater in the car & try to layer up as much as you can & you'll be fine!! :0) You'll do great with the other wives as long as you are just your awesome self!!

there's something about being an arizonan and having to pack for cold weather that creates a huge handicap! i feel like i have enough snow/cold weather clothes that i don't panic anymore, but i used to freak out whenever i had pack for cold weather!! so, i'm totally feeling your pain!!

and btw- your post about the "gay buffet"... i don't know what to say, other than that would be so awkward and i don't know what i would do about that whole situation! i'm not sure if you meant it to be funny, but the matching sweat suits made me laugh! i think i would do the same thing and totally just ignore him and his exsistence! really, with young kids how would you explain that, etc.!?

you should write a book! i swear you know everything about everything or have experienced everything! and you have such a fun way of putting it!

good luck with your packing!

I LIVE in Portland (West Linn) and I didn't even know it was supposed to be that cold. Burr......I just got home from Southern CA and it was shocking to get home and feel the COLD. It's not THAT bad though. People in Portland are VERY casual. Lots of layering, but you'll find lots of sensible shoes.....it doesn't rain ALL day, so don't worry about getting soaked all day long. Hope everything goes well with meeting all the big wigs and their wives. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how friendly people here are! :)

Oh yeah, hurry and borrow a coat, or hit Savers. I got rid of all of my sweaters when we moved from Utah. I think I still have my winter coat, but hardly ever pull it out now. Luvpilot was just in Seattle and there was snow, so it's cold up north. Too bad he won't be your pilot. He's working today, but not your flight. Bummer. Have a great time and don't stress about what people think of you.
