When i'm the mom...

just having a conversation with Joy . she was saying," do you like being the mom? "
someday when I'm the mom, I'm going to be the nicest mom, I'll let them go to the park all by themselves whenever they want to , and driving them everywhere they want, and I'm going to go to work, go poo poo in my undies. suddenly it has gone downhill to potty talk but funny about her opinion of how she'll be a nice and fun mom.

makes me wonder if she thinks i am not a "fun mom" . but we all know her opinions are not realistic. because a mom that does whatever the kids want could be insane quick, or just unsafe, with the park alone whenever they want.

she was also just telling me that we needed tickets to Annie, at Gammage, and why haven't we seen the Nutcracker yet? sad when your 5 year old is dying to do those things and you can't afford it. that is another resolution i will plan ahead better so we can afford to take the whole family to the nutcracker next year. if not the whole family, me and the girls.

That's funny. Reminds me of a list I made when I was a teen about the things I was going to do when I was a mom, and the things I was going to let my teenagers do. I found it and read it after I had kids, and let me just say, my ideas changed alot!

I got your cute card today. Actually it probably came a couple days ago, but I've been forgetting to get the mail. I was LOL at the long version and the short version.

That sounds like a great resolution and a wonderful tradition.

Isn't it amazing to find out what our kids think makes a fun mom?

Ok, so I guess that makes me the NOT fun mom too! My sister used to say that she was never going to yell or spank her kids. Well, let's just say that she hasn't spanked my kids but wanted to and hasn't quite stuck w/ the no yelling. She doesn't even have her own kids. She says my kids "drive" her to yelling, but c'mon, who's kids don't drive them to that?

Oh, I had those lofty ideas too once. Then I had Isaac and things changed fast.

My suggestion about not having enough money to take the kids to theater is to check out local high school shows. In Utah anyway a lot of them do their bigt musical in the spring and Gracie has loved every minute of the ones we've attended. When she's bigger I'll spend more money and take her to something more sophisticated but for now, the high school shows are perfect, :)

I'm not a fun mom either, then! And dare I say it? But, I hate going to the park! Its so boring. For me, at least it is. I try to play with my son and have fun, but I just hate it!

I remember being a little girl and thinking of all the stuff I would and wouldn't do as a mom either....and then I became and mom and realized reality....and it's great! Love what kids say....thanks for documenting it! :)

I wanted to do all of these fun things for Christmas as well that I never got around to. The holiday season was really stressful for me this year. Next year, hopefully will be better.

That's funny. I remember thinking stuff like that when I would get into trouble.

Cec is TOTALLY RIGHT! High School Musical, all the way! We went to "12 Dancing Princesses" & my girls liked it BETTER than the Nutcracker.

We went to the Nutcracker and now we'll be eating beans & rice all thru January. Is that worth it???

Don't ya just love the unrealistic expectations they use to make us crash?!?!

That's how I'm gonna be when I'm a mom, too! LOL! I love the ideas they get, even if they are unrealistic. And I agree about taking them to High School shows. They'll have just as much fun!

I am impressed that she knows what is playing at the Gammage at 5! I think I am a mean Mom too. I sometimes think I need to lighten up and then my kids do something totally off the wall and I think again! I am so excited to see everyone tonight I am ready for a GNO!!!!

We did Annie this year.. not worth it! Did that make you feel better?
Oh and next year just take the girls to Balletudes Nutcracker Tea Party at the Wright House. It's a shorter version (just a few dances)and lunch for $15 each. They get to take photos and get autographs with the dancers. Then the year after that take them to the real thing.
