Thank you ! and random self reflections.

Debra gave me this award today! whoohoo!

she said this when she awarded me.

Julia: Good heavens... how can I NOT give her this award!! She and I are like kindred spirits. We have so many things in common, so many! Her posts are always so fun to read because they are REAL!

thank you Debra! you make my day too. and all my blog friends!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
as i was getting ready to cook dinner, i had to clean the kitchen first.
and the reason i don't like to cook is i don't like to cook in a dirty kitchen.
so if i clean it first i can cook. then i am not a fan of the clean up . and this is why
i like to eat out. because i don't have to clean up before or after. the cooking isn't what bugs me.
another vicious cycle.
today we made semi homemade pizza. semi homemade becuase the pizza crust came from a tube. and the sauce from a jar, and the cheese was out of a bag. but my kids thought i was the coolest mom ever. because they got to make their own.
toppings?
mozzarella cheese. of course
green onions,
Garlic
pineapple
and ham (which was lunch meat cut up)
yeah it was heavenly i had the garlic , onions, and pineapple. the boys did too.
the girls like plain cheese.
anyway. it turned out great and the kitchen is still pretty clean.
yesterday we got this
Airplane Double Teeter-Totter
from Costco.
the kids played outside before church in their dresses and clothes. and after church all afternoon into the evening. pretty fabulous.
we also got this...
it isn't set up yet.
but they can't wait.
~~~~~~~~~~~
side story-
~~~~~~~~~~~
we were quite the spectacle yesterday at Costco with all the kids. buying the giant swingset.
most people looked at us and probably thought and some even said," wow,lucky kids. "
but some cranky old Lady actually asked Lance nicely, what are you catholic? MORMON? and Lance said yes we are Mormon.
then she started getting all witchy and said ,"you people make me sick!"
meaning us having a big family makes her sick. good thing i didn't hear her. or she would have gotten an earful. usually people are nice. but sometimes i am surprised when people look at us in disgust. and talk trash to us. seriously.
I am used to the looks and the counting of kids. the questions of all they all yours?
are they all from the same marraige?
are they siblings?
yeah I've heard it all.
i LOVE that. (said with huge amounts of sarcasm)
i think i may start lying and say no they are adopted. then that is admirable.
but actually choosing to have more than 4 kids is not well accepted these days. it seems. UGH!
people are rude. and it gets to me sometimes.
My kids are pretty well behaved in public. and usually well groomed.
so what is there to judge me for?
that we live poor? because of our family size?
that we devote all our time and money to our kids?
that someday they will all grow up and contribute to society and work hard.
because you can't be lazy in a big family.
yeah whatever! seriously. if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all.
what a rag. it may not have helped that i was wearing a dress (totally not flattereing) that made me look like i could be mistaken for being prego. dude you have the kids you wear the body forever. right? ( or until I can afford surgery to fix the lack of stomach muscles. )
and that last c-section kicked the hangy crotch fat up a notch. quickly!
that is rad too.
Ok. rad day.
rant over.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
back to the fun post.

yup so we got the mega play set, and the coolest teeter totter ever.
it will be fabulous with our real wheel of death , i mean real old school merry-go-round.

we have been promising the swingset for the last few years and this year, with the tax return, we got one. only becuase his mom said to get one for the kids instead of paying her back that much right now. so we could. whoohoo.

yeah i really wanted new flooring
but now i am realizing the wonder of having them
entertained out back . with fun play equipment.
amazing, and quiet. and way fun.
and the house is staying a little cleaner already. how great is that?

now all we need is a trampoline and our backyard will be the funnest place to play ever.

wanna come play?

but you'll have to sign a waiver .
you know,
for the wheel of death.

I'm still thinking on my blessing #6.
it may be late this week. darn.

Freakin' AWESOME!!! You are going to have the coolest backyard!!! My kids are going to want to come over! ha ha :)

We wanted to get something like that before, but now our backyard isn't big enough. Oh well.

Congrats on your sweet award & new play equipment!!

I get the comments with only 4 kids! My favorite one is "Oh you must not have cable." Whatever. My kids are going to want to come and play at your house when you get it set up. The trampoline has been the best investment for us. The kids get home from school and run out and play on it. Today we played "dead man" for about 2 hours on the tramp. What an awesome day!

Yeah I would never have 6 kids but I cannot imagine messing with someone else for their choices in life. Then again I am a VERY live and let live kind of person.

So, go ahead, have a couple more! ;)

I think that's so odd to give someone the business about how many kids they have.

As long as I don't have to take care of your kids or feed them, it's none of my business if you chose to have 1 or 12 kids.

People need to get a life...enjoy the swingset, I'm betting the kids will.

Whew girl! Seriously....I miss a few days and I miss ALOT! What an awesome mommy and daddy you are!!!! My kids would die to have that swing set in their yard! We have a little one and they just love it, and we have a tramp that they love too....except it's still winter and we really really really wish we could go out and use it! It's so fun to have a fun back yard where the kiddos can go out and play and it just be "theirs" and not have to share with all the other bratty kids at the playground! And as for that lady.....are you KIDDING? I am mad for you! She's probably just jealous because she doesn't have the patience or a good enough husband/marriage to deal with so many wonderful blessings (aka--the kids!) Love ya!

♥ Those new toys look like SOOOO much fun! As for the comment, WOW!!! So far I haven't gotten comments only LOOKS... I have had good comments too especially really old people and they usually had a bunch of kids too. But we don't live in a big town so it's old school around here. I think I would have said something as well, like you said it's not like your kids are in soiled clothes with ratty hair and completely crazy running all over the place... It amazes me how rude people can be!

How fun to get the new play stuff. I saw that airplane teeter toter at Costco and would love it but we bought the regular old boring one they had 2 years ago. I would love a play set also, but we get irrigation and i'm afraid it would rot so quick with all that water. Oh-well, I'm sure your kids will love it. I get what you mean about how rude people always are. For me (with 4 girls) they always ask assumingly, "so, I guess you kept trying for a boy? You're not going to keep trying, right?" because you know what- I do want one more (and would have more if I wasn't so old already) but I'm not having all these kids just to have a boy. I like them no matter what sex they are. It really bugs. Anyway, I'm glad you got some good things. I need to get my taxes done so hopefully I can get some money too.

Hangy crotch fat, huh?? Very nice visual, Julie! LOL!! Hey, I got it too. Dude, your yard is gonna be the raddest ever. I wanna come play. That woman is just pissed because she doesn't get any anymore and she's insanely jealous that you (obviously) get it SO often!

I prefer to call it the "WHeeL O' Barf", makes me motion sick just watching.

I saw a great bumper sticker the other day...
How can you say there are too many children...That's like saying, there are too many flowers."

Just hearing about the witch at Costco gets my blood boiling. Honestly what makes someone o.k with saying something like that outloud. WOW! I don't get many comments because its pretty normal here to have more kids than 4 and 2 of my four are twins. Regardless that lady must have a miserable empty life to act like that.

On a good note your backyard is going to be amazing. I can see the freedom (from kids inside) and fun being had ALL.THE.TIME!

I can't believe she would ask if you were catholic or mormon! There are really stupid people out there. And no, having more than 2 kids is not smiled upon by a lot of people. There was an article in Time magazine last year (November issue if i remember correctly) that talked about how people are choosing to have larger families nowadays and the next month there were a bunch of letters to the editor about how people who choose to have lots of kids are irresponsible because we are all consumers and using up resources and the population of the earth is too high already and there are starving people in 3rd world countries, so why are we having all these kids....etc. I was truly surprised at the negative responses. Large families are not the cause of the world's problems, but don't get me started.....

That playset is awesome. I'm envious that you get to set it up and play outside in February!! lol! We're buried under a ton of snow here!

As the oldest of ten I grew up hearing those kind of comments and It really irritated me! I rember my mom after she found out she was pregnant with the tenth one, and coming home from the dr's and just sobbing and mad because the nurse asked her if she was going to get an abortion or give this one up for adoption. Some people just do not know when to keep their mouth shut! What business is it of theirs anyway! Well I will get down off my soapbox!

I saw the playset at costco and I fell in like with it! I was wishing that I had the money and the room for it! Congrats!

I wish we would get a refund..I am so jelous and would love to get that swing set..but we do have a trampoline. That swingset wouldnt even fit in our back yard unfortunetly...ohwell..Have fun with it...and enjoy the peacefull moments when they are all outside playing on it!!

I agree cooking is a tedious job! Clean, cook, clean up.

That's a great swing set!! It's so nice when the kids can go outside and play for hours like that.

We like to go shopping all together as a family too. Usually we get comments about having FOUR boys! I can't believe the nerve of that lady. But I live in Utah so I guess people are just use to big families here. Still none of her business though!

Thanks for stopping by my blog, appreciate your fun comments. :)

A fwe things.

1. I am so with you on the clean kitchen/cooking/eating out thing.

2. I'm coming to play when it's set up. Who cares that it'll take me a day and a half to get there?

3. There are weird people in the world. Imagine how rotten that person's life must be to be that snarky about someone having children. Sad really.

4. I'm coming to play.

Connor will be so jealous! Everytime we go to Costco, he wants that playhouse/slide. I am all for investing in the backyard for entertainment. Putting the pool in was the best thing we ever did. I love that we don't have to go anywhere to be entertained (or cool off!). And I don't even mind when half the neighborhood kids want to come swim. Good call on that, and really nice of your MIL!

My boys LOVE that kind of pizza. Even more than Barros. Isn't that messed up? But cheap and easy for me!

I wish you could've told that lady off. I wish I could've told that lady off. The most selfless caring people are mothers. I only wish I could've had more kids!

It's the blog-snooper from UT again! Just had to say, DANG that lady! She must have a really crappy life if she feels she has to rag on other people!! She should just MYOB. Your kids are all darling, and they are fed and clothed and educated, so whatever!! I say good for you!
P.S.- I call mine the "fanny pack of stretch marks"!!!
Have a great day!

Isn't it sad that society will accept the adoptions! We only have 4 and get "whoa!" comments all the time!
Loving the new toys! A trampoline - you are a mormon! HA! HA! Every mormon has one! :)

Sarah said...

Totally fun! I would love to get either of those. Unfortunately we are currently renting so I would hate to put the money out for it then have to leave it behind. But I can imagine the fun my kids would have on the teeter totter! I'll just send them over to play!

Jelous does not even begin to describe how I feel about that play set!! Lucky kids and Mom! I have told Gl that is our next big purchase after the remodel so start saving cuz this Mom is gonna get one!!

LOVE the swingset!!! Don't ya just LOVE child tax credit for bringing down the amount of taxes you owe? :-)

We have the one from 2 yrs ago that Sams Club offers. Be prepared for HOURS of Lance putting that thing together. I HIGHLY recommend making it an Elder's Quorum activity! LOL It took Michael 36 hrs (not all at once, but close!) to put ours together.

Ok.. SERIOUSLY, I would have attacked that lady! She must be a miserable woman. But it IS funny when you get to say back at them, yeah, we ARE Mormon actually!!!

Hanging fat... So freakin' funny and so damn true. As I lose the fat, the hanging skin keeps getting longer and longer!!

I am on my way over see you in 10 minutes! ha ha!! I am jealous!!

Debra said...

One more thing.. the poor comment... WTH? Why do people think you have to live in the poor house when you have a lot of kids? When we found out I was preggo with twins, the dr said, "At least you look like you can afford it!" WTH?

That lady should take a flying leap!

1st - you should get MOM and DAD of the year for buying a playset for V-Day!
2nd- Way to go on make your own pizza night! It's the best ever isn't it. And the kids don't care how you make the crust or sauce. Its the fun of putting it together and seeing it cook.
3rd- you should have slashed that old bags tires at Costco. I'm so sure!!! Rude people suck!
