assorted thoughts/ stresses

the girls are home again today. really it's OK. it sure makes the morning easier only getting 2 boys ready and out the door.

~~

ARGH-in law family pictures coming SOON. yeah and i dread them. i dread my own little family pictures but the whole huge family? HATE IT! it doesn't help that there are 42 people in the pictures. and there is this fantasy of having each individual family match in the same color. MY issue that i'm blitching (blog bitching) about IS, seems like it is always a fight for our color. my color is BLACK, i'm the fattest one i should get the slimmest color. and honestly i think the WHOLE FANDAMILY should wear black but some people think it's too severe , OR don't want to invest in new outfits for their family. but every year it's a fight. which leaves me feeling agitated and UGH about the whole ordeal. i know it's petty, and I know it is a HUGE risk blogging about it at this point with unknown in laws occasionally reading my personal blog. but that is the thing this is my place to vent or blitch as is appropriate. or celebrate or whatever i want. MY BLOG. so consider it read at your own risk if you are related to me. and while i 100% appreciate my brother in law doing them, and taking the time to take them and edit them and fix double chins, and swap heads, i don't love the actual planning or getting ready OR getting there sitting and fighting with kids. yeah it isn't my fave thing. at least I'm not pregnant this time. there have been years that i was prego for the family pictures. and that bugs. ok so apparently we are wearing black and so is another family. AND if i'm being honest. that is fine with me. but i think there should be a rule about NO LOGO SHIRTS. yeah it brings the whole effect down a notch. yeah logo shirts aren't for pictures. small logo is fine, whole stomach covering logo - not cute. but that's my opinion. my family always does their own thing anyway. one year we had black, and fuchsia, and another we picked denim with red(the girls had denim dresses and red hair bows and boys in denim shirts i wore a red shirt with denim jacket). and one year they did everyone in white with denim or khaki, that was the year i was pregnant. it wasn't the cutest. and back before we had kids there was one with denim or khaki, with burgundy or forest green(totally 90's) i wore a denim dress, and Lance wore burgundy. it's not my fave picture and i don't even have a copy i think. I'm not that sad about it either. i super hate pictures they stress me out. i pick my self apart, and don't love any of the shots. my kids look doofy, i look fat. YUCK.

family picnic this weekend. huge family. my moms side. we go to the park every year for an Easter picnic and hunt for candy. awesome fun. i need to find matching outfits. would it be odd if my kids wore black? i love black. this is last years post about it. the kids wore the matching/coordinating rainbow stripes from gymboree. i can officially say that was the last time i was in a gymboree store. last APRIL! shocking. see i'm over that addiction. yay me.

~~~
i haven't purchased easter dresses yet.
normally i am on top of it! it's kinda killing me. and along with dresses, i need to make bows and get shoes and whatnot. and it isn't really a money issue , in the past i didn't have money so i planned ahead better. and this year there is money, and i lack planning. that and Liberty is out of little girl sizes so logistically finding dresses for 3 girls in 2 or 3 size ranges isn't super easy.
i liked the children's place black and white ones but they always sell out quick. and I'm assuming they are gone. i need to look online and commit myself to go shopping for the dresses. and maybe easter picnic outfits too.
~~~

way long post sorry.

SO questions for you...

-have you purchased easter apparel yet?
-do you do anything fun for easter? any family traditions?
-do you do big family pictures?
-love 'em or hate 'em?
-and what color would you pick? for your whole family to wear?
( if i could get away with fuchsia, i would , Lance would wear it for the pictures but never again, so i have a hard time doing that. it feels like a waste. )

I don't and do mind photos. Depends on which family I am taking them with. My family we go in and we come out. We don't really match and we dont fuss about it.....my husband's family...um...Well I think WWII took less planning. Everyone has to match and cordinate and we get there always early and I can't even explain it...you just have to be there :)

But with my huge family of about 35 and his family of 8...you think mine would be the hard one :)

Family pictures have been a misery my whole life. Probably why i haven't taken one of my own little family in over a year. They really are a treasure later but h*#l to get done!

Easter apparel...little girls done(thank you Costco), Jared and Riley still to do....oh, and bows for the little girls to be made.

Easter fun...used to get together for an in-law egg hunt, until half the families pooped out, so now we go to our city one at the park...which I like better...less work for me!

Big family pictures...nope. Neither side, thank goodness because I'm not interested! Hard enough getting my little family done. Of course, the in-laws still have an old one prominently displayed in their home....with my husbands 1st wife in it(she died)....but NONE containing me...or the kids my hubby and i have since produced...despite us giving them pictures to display....nice.

Color....I like the white/khaki look. I'm afraid I'd end up too washed out in black. I want to do one in pinks and browns.

I love to match my boys for pictures! It's getting harder since now I have boys sizes and toddler sizes. Kudos for the matching Easter shirts last year!!

This year I am opting not to buy new Easter shirts, they have enough church shirts!

We have an annual Easter egg hunt at Grandma's and they get way too much candy.

I purchased kids Easter clothes last summer. Is that wierd of me?? I got everything on clearance at Gymboree.

I don't know what color I would pick for my family....something to consider, I guess.

Good luck with all the latest business!!!

I haven't bought easter stuff yet. My sister doesn't have kids and asked if I was going make dresses this year or if she can buy them stuff. My thought is when do I have the time between all my other projects I haven't finished up yet, so I said go ahead! Yippee one less thing to worry about and she has good taste! :)

Family pictures are SOOO hard. I think it's really hard to get a great picture with so many people. Especially kids. We don't have nearly as many as your 42 but even with the 27 we have it seems IMPOSSIBLE. We usually do something like red & denim or pastels or something like that. I'm not a fan of pastels though blech i look like BLAHHHH in pastels. But what can I do? ;)

I've really like the red/denim look. I love your black/denim LOVE IT! :)

Goo luck!

♥ Oh yeah! We don't do much on easter just. Just relax and a big dinner. The saturday before we do the egg hunt & baskets.

I'm with onehm! I purchase my clothes the year before when they're on clearance, if I can find anything! :)

hate family pictures!! and with a huge family...wow sounds like a good time. i say where what you want and don't worry about the others.

samantha did get an easter/birthday dress, the boys will probably wear what they have..oh wait cooper doesn't have anything that fits! DANG

Jordan doesn't want an easter dress this year, boo hoo. she says they are for "little girls" and she is "almost a teenager". she has agreed to a new easter outfit, but probably not a dress. i am hoping we can find a nice springy compromise.

family pictures. we have yet to take one...formally. its sad, we just never get around to it. i could never imagine having to coordinate outfits with a HUGE family. i agree with the whole logo thing...nope not good.

I haven't got Tiffany a easter dress yet, I just got back from Las Vegas last night and I'm still on vacation mode, but I need to get busy....I usually do my family pictures towards the end of the year so I can use them for the Christmas Cards, so I have some time....LOL. I like taking them, but my husband hates it, I usually do a matching sweater, but last year I actually had a more formal look, the boys worn black shirt with silver tie and black dresses for the girls...
P.S. I love your blog!!!
Come visit mine!!!

We just had family pictures done on Chads side. 8 kids ages 2 and under. Talk about Hell! All of the adults look constipated from smiling for so long and none of the kids are smiling either. Oh well... All of us wore khakis and black or white shirts. The kids in each family wore a different color. It actually turned out cute and then we wore our own thing in individual pictures.

Good LUCK!

Holy Crap! I haven't gotten any Easter outfits this year! Stink! And we're going to my grandmother's for Easter! Oh crap.

And wear black anyway. It's an anchor color. Every picture needs a little black.

I need to get London's Easter dress still-kinda freaking out that its just around the corner.

Well, I'm with you. I used to be way more on top of it!
Sorry, but I haven't bought anything this year either. In fact, I think they are wearing stuff we already have, I know; gasp! I've never done that before, but we have so many things that just don't get worn.
I have seen some really cute little skirts in the bigger girls sizes at Target. I've done that in the past, buy a skirt that will match with a younger ones dress from somewhere else. *does that make sense?*
Anyhow good luck!
I also hate big family pictures it's just always such a disaster. Someones kid is always having a meltdown & I always hope it's not mine. I do always look fat, I usually don't have any say in the ones that get picked. (One year the HUGE one that went on my inlaws wall, my 4 year old was not with the family, she had scooted over on the rock to chase a damn butterfly or stomething, she was all curled up in a ball & you could see her underware) YEP, that one was the freaking Christmas card picture & the WALL sized framed photo in my in laws dining room! Goodtimes! Yeah, I'm with you big family pictures LICK!
Sorry, good luck sweetie!
I usually don't go off like that, but honestly you struck a cord! Oh & yes I agree NO logos & black ALWAYS works!!
Good Luck, again!

Haven't bought anything yet. Have been looking online though. Trying to decide what to go for this year.

We always do Easter baskets with swim suits, beach towels and sunglasses. And always have a big dinner with egg hunt.

Yes. Usually Easter is the time for our pics with EVERYONE. But siblings out of state now - who knows. :(

I hate getting ready for them - stresses me out. But there - no worries now that my kids are old enough to listen and look and smile. And although I hate seeing myself - I love looking at all the pics!

We usually just go with something we find the girls first. Everyone else gets to match the "dresses". I do love family pics with denim and accent color though. But then you're talking to me - I wear jeans EVERYDAY!

I LOVE denim and anything - red, black, navy, etc. We just did family pics with all the girls wearing pink and boys in blue. Hated it but it was fun to see how many of each.

I bought my daughter a new dress..one of the black and white ones from TCP...but the boys may wear there shirts from last year...I know thats kind of lame but money is a big issue for us this year.

My inlaw family pictures are kind of disasterous...lets just leave it at that...we have only had one formal sitting in the past 10 years...same for my side..but at least the one time we did it..we all looked nice. Hopefully maybe if we are lucky we can try for one next month when my brother and his family is coming down to visit...YAY!!

Your asking the wrong person because I am still into Gymboree and Gap. Anyway, I have dresses for all three girls and an outfit for my son. I still need to get shoes etc... Easter is early this year so I am not as into it. It's creeping up on me. This year I tried to just choose a dress I had bought and not get an extra fancy dress. Last year Lindsey ripped her Gymboree dress out hunting.

Anyway, as for family pictures. I think solid colors is the key. White, black, navy or red. Just as long as they are solid. All photographers say this. I stress a lot over family pictures. Getting everyone dressed and trying to get them to just look at the camera is totally grueling. Adding more families sounds like torture. I bet the pictures are totally worth it.

Good luck! So you have to share what your Gymboree addiction was about and how come you stopped shopping there. LOL!

I haven't started buying easter dresses yet. It's tradition for my Mom to buy them, but I buy them too.
I use to have them all the same, then moved to differnt colors and then what ever works.... Devin is the easiest to buy for.... LOL

Let me know what you find.
Dose Costco have any dresses?
