random delights!

the pay it forward contest. is still rolling! It's very exciting and has 93 comments so far. at 11:09 pm. way to go those that left a load in a row! you are so totally boosting your chances. go here if you wanna join in the fun!
~~
let me see. i haven't posted a few things.
~~
i finished "the Other Boleyn Girl" last night. good book. i liked it. somehow it was a slower read for me. and I'm pretty sure it was just because of no free time on spring break. the kids home and going fun places and keeping busy killed it. BUT i was glad I'm done and I'm dying to get and start "the Boleyn Inheritance". i didn't find it at Costco tonight but I'm hoping maybe Walmart carries it. I'm really glad i saw the movie first, i would have been really peeved it didn't follow the book. but i kinda liked knowing what happened in the end, and just got more details. A lot more details.

before that book i read The High Kings Tomb. which i loved. by Kristen Britain. it was the third in the Green Rider Series.

~~
in other news. we finally called and took care of the Wii that wasn't working right. i waited until Lance took care of it. and I'm glad he did. it wouldn't have been under warranty but the guy he talked to was way nice, and Lance was honest with him that it had fallen off an entertainment center at the hands of a kid. and the customer service guy was so appreciative of the honesty he told Lance if he got an extended warranty through Nintendo, for 89 bucks they would service it or replace it. otherwise we were screwed and would have to buy a new one. yeah so we got the warranty, sent it in. and they serviced it. we got it back this afternoon. i had no idea that's what the box was on my doorstep this afternoon. but am excited to play some guitar hero. OR some high school musical sing along! yes I'm a DORK! no secret there!

~~
after school today Joy told me. "i was so sweaty i was sweating like a river." silly girl

it was hot.
everyday my freaking kids walk in the door from school and strip off something , either their shirt, or jeans or both. saying they are hot. and later they put on another outfit. it isn't helping my laundry situation AT ALL!

and it isn't all that modest, i have a half naked herd of kids. totally W.T.

~~

it's dang hot here.
last week at the zoo i got some color. the back of my neck, and my chest were pink, i could even feel the burn. which soon enough it's sure to be a nice golden tan.

it has been steamy. and i find myself incredibly cranky in the afternoon heat.
and GET THIS- WE TURNED ON THE A/C- last night and it ran all afternoon today ! seriously HOT!
it has begun. anyone else living in fear of the summer? see for all the non Arizonans you are going to have nice weather in the summer and we can't go outside unless we are hanging out in the water or going from one air conditioned place to another. HOT! and not in the sexy way. it's
dreadful heat. I'm full of dread already. and it's only march! i can wait on more heat. it said it was 82 today but it felt alot hotter hiking the zoo with the double stroller.

~~

and yes i do have a ZOO membership. and I'm so not loving the new policy! you can only take in the people actually written on the card? WHAT? they have got to be kidding me.
and mine has the 10 kids deal also. i figure they have no idea who the kids are anyway. but i suppose if they are gonna give me crap about taking extra adults not on the card I'm gonna be peeved. you used to be able to take any adult. I'm pretty peeved. but i guess this way I'll actually use my free passes. still it is a retarded policy.

and today's plans weren't the original plan but fun anyway. my niece had a fever so my sister in law canceled for today. we'll try next week again.

so i called my sister. and we went. it was pretty great. the kids had a fun time. and obviously were way tired. we saw all the animals we tried to with the exception of the otters. and that is pretty fabulous. i would call it a success! normally we go and don't see anything. and it was way less crowded today than it was last week. maybe I'll post more zoo pictures. MAYBE! those were the ones she sent me. pretty fabulous!

~~
AND GUESS WHO GOT A NEW BLOG?
my friend ALI! yeah go check it out here and show her some comment love. sorry Ali, i promised some old friends of yours I'd be sure to let them know if you ever got one!

and yeah she is ambitious. she emailed for template instructions tonight already. awesome!
I'm sure it will be FABULOUS! and I'm so excited to see what her family is up to and her super cute kids! yeah we live in the same state but don't get alot of time and totally lack follow through on getting together. so i am way excited. now all we need is Jessica to get one. it would be awesome for sure.

~~

and on the way home from Costco tonight where my kids acted like a bunch of idiots. a white ladybug was crawling on my arm. i found it. the kids wanted it, so they held it carefully until they got home, and put it out on the rose bush. it's lady bug season. and other bugs. that i'm not loving. along with the warmer weather comes bugs. i could do without those.
we have some of those mosquito hoppers (i call them) Lance calls them mosquito hunters. anyway. big long legged flying things, that land on the wall? they are here , maybe they will not come in as much with the closed windows since we are RUNNING OUR A/C. crazy!

~~

so those are some of the randoms going on here . now a couple comment questions for you.

would you rather be sweaty hot? or freezing cold?

when do you turn on the A/C? have you already?

what is your preferred type of book to read? like i said i read fantasy , and enjoy historical fiction too. i only read fiction. although i have read some books lately that i would never have read if it wasn't for book club. including the glass castle that isn't really fiction. which makes me kinda sick. sad non fiction isn't my fave thing.

what about you? do you have a book club?

do you read for pleasure?

when do you read?
i am a late night kinda reader.although i tend to lug whatever book i'm reading along. so i can read in the few minutes while i wait for a prescription, Or in the long drive through, at the DR's office. or while Lance drives. yeah i do that. although i get totally nauseas if i read in the car on a long drive. i was feeling totally nasty after a 45 minute drive out to my sister in laws on Easter for the in-law party reading the whole way. and i read in the bathroom, it's the only place i get some peace. i swear. sometimes i just need some space. the kids of course think i have bathroom issues and keep track of how long i've been in there but whatever works. i just like to be alone reading. i don't care what room i'm in or where i sit. (on the toilet with the lid down,)and sometimes even standing in there works. i do not read in the bath though. I'm always afraid I'll drop the book , or get the pages wet and they will stick . PLUS i get cold. but if i could read in the shower i totally would . is that weird?

have a FABULOUS Thursday.
GNO Thursday night. we are going to Create it. and then dinner. this will be the first time i've gone since SEPTEMBER. I've gone on other GNO's but not with my girls night out group. it should be interesting. and i'm hoping it's fun.

I'm looking forward to GNO! Let's face it - any night out is a good night out.

I keep the bathtub water on a straight hot trickle which keeps the temp up so I can read for an hour or more. (gotta plug the drain hole at the top though for full coverage).

SuperCoolMom said...

BTW you could always put your book in a ziploc for shower reading, however turning the pages would get tricky.

Oh so many questions! First I love to sweat rivers too! Although I found I didn't sweat so much in AZ therefore prefer the more tropical midwest--actually would move to Florida in a heartbeat but........chicago it is.
I'm so desperate for heat that I went tanning twice this week and not only have I spent a fortune, but my back is so burned I had to sleep on my side. My tummy is really burned too--oops. DOn't care though--I need the heat! today it's 41 and rain/snow showers. yeah for stupid chicago.

I turn on the AC as soon as the humidity kicks in, sometime in may or June--I don't mind my house being warm as long as the walls aren't sweating...that makes me feel dirty somehow..it usually stays on until October when I immediately switch to heat....somehow Chicago lost Fall and Spring--At least we still have 2 seasons left.
Reading? I love it! and writing...I used to always read fiction--about 10 years ago I swore I read them all-fave is Steven King and any chick lit out there...then my daughter came so I switched to my smartlove manual and parenting magazines......now I read children's books--and spiritual daily readers--I want to write a kids book someday and I can't seem to get enough Joel Osteen in my system. I want to be able to quote his stuff--he just makes me smile--that can't be a bad thing,
now I am just lucky to get the chance to read my fave blogs--I only have a few because of time, but I love em just the same.

Have a great Thursday!

Of course I've turned on the A/C. I'm not one of those people that will sit there sweating, refusing to turn it on to save a few pennies. I am on the equal payment plan with SRP. And I would much rather sweat the summer out, than live in a cold snowy winter place.

And reading, I read a lot for pleasure. Haven't done the bookclub thing because I don't like being told what to read. I love to read in the tub and I have dropped my book before, or in the parent pick- line at school, or in bed, although that makes me really tired. The best time is just during the afternoon, when the kids are gone or busy. I get car sick when I read while traveling, too. I like to read on the airplane if Boo stops jabbering enough to let me : )

I ain't answering your Q's, I am questioned OUT! BUT... my kids always act like idiots in Costco. We don't go to Wal-Mart often, so I guess they pick Costco. So I get to be the lunatic mom. Fun! I will leave a comment for Ali. And OH...here in the summer, I feel the same way. There is no way I am going out in 112 degrees. It's miserable, I don't do the air, though, really. I conserve a lot of energy. We just leave or go in the pool!!

82?! Wow. The car temperature thing told me it was 35 this morning as I was taking the kids to school. But it got cold yesterday. For the last couple of days we made it up into mid 60's, but today is only high 40's. No A/C here! We can open our windows if we need to cool off! Just kidding, because then all our nice warmed from the furnace air would escape! I usually don't have to turn our A/C on for good until June, although there are days in May that sometimes get it going...there are days that the furnace is on in the morning, and the A/C gets turned on in the afternoon....crazy! (Doesn't happen too often!)

Books....random likes...no book club....I read when I find the time, usually right before bed. And I think I may be the only person around that didn't enjoy the twilight series (gasp!). I forced myself to get through the 3rd, and won't do anymore.

I'm so HAPPY you're coming to GNO tonight!! I think it's going to be FUN! My SIL wants to come with me. So, I probably won't be out as late as usual. Oh well, still looking forward to fun evening out!!

oh btw, i totally read in the bathroom too. tee hee :)

I have read The other Boleyn girl. I liked it a lot. I have read others of hers too. I usually get all my books on cd and then load them to my ipod that way I can listen to my books while I clean or exercise. Before doing that I was never reading! I love doing this.

I woke up to snow so there is not A/C going on here. We usually do not put any A/C on till after April.

Thank you for your sympathy on sick kids. Loosing girls night was a big blow. My sister in law waited for me though and we hope to go out on Friday night instead.

I am not in a book club because I am lame and hate giving up girls nights for that. LOL!

Oh and I would much rather be warm. I hate cold.

I wish I had more time to read. I read before going to bed and usually end up falling asleep. I also read in the bathroom and sometimes I like to read in the bath, but I'm with you don't want to drop the book.

Sorry about your heat already. It's been pretty nice in Utah :) I have a friend in AZ and she has already been swimming lots.

Glad you got the Wii back. I haven't played HSM sing it for awhile...I love it too!!

i love to see what others are reading, so i will have to check out those books. our book club (rs) meets tonight- 8pm! can't wait. we don't read the same book, wish we did tho. then we go out afterwards to a restaurant for appetizers and dessert!!

i haven't been an avid reader until i picked up the twilight series and that sent me in a whirlwind of reading! i can't get enough of it!! i'm so in to jane austen right now. prob becuz of all the hype she's getting and the recent movies out. i love love love austen books!

so, we are freezing here in idaho and just got some snow yesterday. i did our easter egg hunt indoors becuz it was so frigid outside...then i hear from my sis. in az that they were roasting during their egg hunt and all the chocolate they'd put out was melting! heehee :) gotta love az! i could really go for some of that roasting myself!

happy thursday to you!

We have turned on our AC a few times. I love the heat and would much rather be hot then cold! My kiddos do the same thing after school. They want to still wear winter clothes & then they wonder why they are roasting. I'm still trying to finish the book from book club. I need to find a really good read.

its been beautiful here...low to mid 70's perfection. but this town gets hotter than 10 hells in the summer. that goodness i have a pool AND AC or i am sure i would die...really...100% dead!

i can't remember the questions you asked...lol.

i need a nap. we had another BFF sleepover last night, those two giggled til 3am. and were up at the butt crack of dawn. oh well next week is 6th grade camp and i will miss the noise.

♥ I would rather it be COLD, cause seriously you can always put more clothes on or curl up with a blanket but when it's HOT you can only take off so many clothes!!!

We turn the A/C on when it gets in the 70's. Here it snowed yesterday so not a problem yet...

I like LDS Fiction! My favorites Children of Promise and Hearts of the Children Series!!!

No book club... Already have too many activities I try and do.

I read when I'm not blogging or cleaning or, or, or,,,,,

Sorry if I don't show any sympathy for your nice weather, but IT SNOWED HERE TODAY!!

I am really ready for spring to finally get here for real.

I prefer it hot over freezing, however, when it's hot here, my DH has the air conditioner set so cold that I'm usually freezing anyway.

Several years ago, we visited Lake Havasu City in August. I don't like it THAT hot.

First of all, I'd rather be freezing cold then sweaty hot.......anyday. I have had my AC running already.....HATE the heat and sunshine for that matter. Perfect weather would be overcast and cold, stormy.....

Books, oh books. I have recently gotten into books with a little bit of romance and sometimes more. My husband travel for work and is gone almost 90% of the time, so I needs good books to keep my life interesting!

I loved the Other Boleyn Girl. After reading that book I realized where soap opra's came from - English/ history. ha ha Have you seen the movie yet? It's good.

AutoSysGene said...

I read in bed and while Hope is at school! Exciting, huh?

82? Can I tell you how jealous I am! I'd have the AC on, too!

our aquarium did that same thing with the names being on the membership. i went a few weeks back with my neice and it was drama. the dork that was checking tickets was all weirded out that i had her and not my son. he said drew's a boys name blah blah blah. i was like well i could prove it is her name, but she forgot her "drivers license" yeah that is pretty lame!

and i love to read, but reading hasn't been possible much lately because of my severe head aches. but i love modivational positive books and real based on a true story type books. and i love reading outside. i could lay down a blanket by a river or the ocean and spend a lot of time reading. sigh---

ac ... that's a thing of my past. our house doesn't even have it although in july and august we certianly want it when it's humid. we just have 1 window unit in my bedroom so at least we can sleep comfortably. after living in both climits, i prefer to be hot & sweaty. in the winter here, you're just stuck inside. at least in az you can swim, run errands at night, etc. but we'll be back this summer for two weddings ... our bodies will go into shock cause in Feb marina complained about her sweaty nose.

i like to read in bed at night.

oh ya...our heater is still running full-time.

Oh so many questions!!!

Definitley freezing cold.

I try not to turn on the AC at all, but cave in around the rnd of June.

I like fiction, or a good memoir.

I was in a book club that fell apart.

I would love to read more, but I always fall asleep...those darn babies getting up at night.

I try to read before bed...but fall asleep...and sometimes I carry my book around with me...I am one of those people that if really into a book I can't put it down, and neglect everything!!

Nat Nat said...

Love to read fiction as well. Don't read as much as I want to. That Zoo rule is so dumb! Next time list one of your people as Nanny and then you can take who ever you want for that day and call them the nanny. LOL We have snow again!!! I am jealous of you weather even though you are hot.
