since it's MY birthday and all. lets talk about me.

(blog cake from Jenny!)

So the Flinstone feet statement got alot of attention. let me tell you a little story.

at one point my senior year of High school i moved from Sunny Mesa ,AZ to Claremont ,CA (by Mckenna colleges Claremont) to live with my old Aunt Jane, some RLF(real life friends) may remember the upheaval that year. within a week of going to school there, i wore my Birkenstock's which were a mainstay in my foot wear wardrobe in AZ, but the first day i wore them in CA, the guy sitting in front of me in Civics class turns around looks at my feet, and STARTS SINGING THE FLINSTONES THEME SONG! i kid you not! i was more than horrified.i would not consider it to be a yabba dabba do time. and that quickly they were no longer in the rotation of acceptable school footwear for the rest of the year. it was colder there anyway. so it was no huge loss. i have to admit i totally enjoyed going to school there, i had FABULOUS friends, and it was just a different experience than my experiences here in Mesa. the little LDS community was close and actually dated each other. whereas here i couldn't get a date with a guy in my own freaking stake, or high school for that matter. whatever. it was FAB there. fond memories for sure. i loved being the new girl and some of my girlfriends there didn't wear makeup, or dress very cute, and wahlah! i was fabulous! (that is where i realized it is better to be the pretty girl with not as cute friends instead of be the not as cute girl with prettier friends. excellent life lesson, not that i do that now but smarter in highschool, i'll be sure to tell my girls.) but i couldn't graduate on time there, since i didn't have the CA state requirements for graduation. so i came home in Feb. to graduate here in MAY. ON MY 18th Birthday!

other people would have been thrilled or at least fine with it. i was peeved to no end since i seriously hate the combo gifts/parties. I'm still bitter about it. not like i could do anything about it anyway. BUT that is the # 1 reason we don't combine anything for our kids. i don't care if your birthday is on Christmas, the day before or the week before, you NEVER combine gifts. everyone else gets both Christmas and Birthday's why should you get the shaft, if your birthday happens to be in the month of December. i don't believe in combo gifts. but i digress.

On to my actual birthday this year. it was pretty fab. like i posted yesterday. Pedicure, FANTASTIC! today, sleeping in, having pancakes cooked by Lance, working on the damn summer fun booklets, hit church, to distribute booklets. birthday wishes there even. Home for lunch of spaghetti by lance, and dessert of my ultimate fave TEXAS SHEET CAKE! (in the family cook book it even says Julie Jones' favorite) OH YES! i saw Lance was beginning to Bake a cake, and i quickly informed him that if he is baking a cake from scratch, the way to my heart would be with TEXAS SHEET CAKE! so he baked one. WHOOHOO! heavenly day. we headed to the family grad party for Bronson(no pictures) where i received gifts, and was sang to also. yay for me. i got earrings from Maria, a necklace from Vicki, a Merit badge handbook for grown up girls from Janie, and Cash from my mom, and Aunt Jane . Oh, and my fave kind of soap from Kimm! it was pretty FABULOUS! Maria got gifts too since her birthday is next week and we always get the same thing, so she gets hers early. lucky her.
and Lance's mom had given me cash the other night, SO with my birthday money, I'm buying a NEW PURSE! i think . I've been searching for one for awhile so I'll keep an eye out. i love purses. but I'm particular , and i have way more expensive taste than i can actually afford. so it takes me awhile to pick one.

and Lance reminded me when i said i got the shaft for my Birthday i did get a new phone. last week. so happy birthday to me, i bought it myself, and would have gotten a better one if I'd known it was my Birthday present. but it does have mobile web access, So i can check my email , and even read my blog on it. FABULOUS! and my new ring tone? HEY YA(by Outcast)! love love love it. it makes me smile and that's what it's all about right? RIGHT! so i am thrilled with my new Phone and acts of service from Lance today. how many hubby's cook all day on your birthday? and bake a cake from scratch? i don't even bake anything from scratch, i just plan ahead for that. SO thanks HONEY! I LOVED IT!

anyway, that is my birthday in a nut shell. thanks for all the birthday comments, y'all! and i even got some E-Cards, and blog birthday cakes. which i loved! you girls know me well! SO thanks for that!(the Cake from Tammy!)

~~
tomorrow? SAVERS 50% off day! love it! so excited for these sales. i really feel like we need nothing more in our house, but i can't resist going for the bargain. on my list of things to look at? the purses, the kids clothes, the furniture, SO FUN!

so, find your local savers and go buy some crap for really cheap. brand names, ultra low prices!
i need to figure out the next size for the next season. for the hoodlums. so i can stock up on gymboree, Gap, and limited too stuff it's so cheap i get high off the thrill of the hunt!

OK so have a FABULOUS MEMORIAL DAY!
after savers , i have a family party at noon with my family and 5 with his family. both families want to party down. it will be a long day! i think I'm making those calico beans of Bridget's for both parties. heavenly day they were good! and i think i can totally manage to make them myself.

Sounds like a super uber FAB day. Yeah you! Love all that cooking. WOW that is nice. Who needs to spend lots of money on gifts? give me a day off of cooking anyday. Awesome.

That was just plain mean of the flinstone singing californian. How rude! LOL

Glad you had a good birthday weekend. I saw some cute purses at TJ Maxx last time I was there. And I agree, I don't like combining holidays/gifts unless it's something dang fantastic. And I won't let my family combine mine and my FIL's birthdays. Might sound selfish, but why should he get to pick where to have dinner every year just because his birthday comes 3 days before mine? Sometimes I wanna pick! Luvpilot has learned to give me my own day.

Sounds like a great day!! You were in the wrong part of CA if you didn't feel comfortable in your Birks! Must have been So Cal! Totally hear you on the combo gifts. I am not a big gift person myself, so I probably wouldn't care. But my sister's B-Day is on Christmas and she used to get the shaft every year and she would get so pissed!

I understand about the combo gifts. My birthday is 2 weeks before Christmas. I am actually liking it now since we are on a tight budget... DH can put the money together and get me something EXPENSIVE! LOL

Hope you had a FABULOUS DAY! I loved catching up on your blog. It's been awhile since I've been blogging. Love your pedicure and I'm not a fan of combining anything. It's not fair. Texas sheet cake is one of my favorites too.

So do you suggest getting the wii fit? We've been contemplating it. Do you think it's worth it? Will it help my fat A**

Happy Birthday!!

(Next year all of us May birthday girls should get together and PARTY!)

BTW, I also realized in college that hanging out with engineers made me look cool. Okay maybe not really cool, but in comparison - cool.
