the new storage room. previously known as the dog room.

outside the laundry room door, that would have been a back door. it went into a crappy makeshift room called the dog room. it housed, crappy shelves full of assorted crap, like camping equipment, old bird cages, holiday stuff we were too lazy to put in the attic, TOOLS, etc. and it had a dog door where we stored the dog food, and the outside Dogs could come in from the rain or cold, and sleep. and in the winter we had a heater in there for them. we had more than a few litters of puppies born in the "dog room".

you remember Lance had Tony just put in a door from the dining room to the dog room where the crappy window used to be. and you remember the incessant whining about the store room being worked on and added BEFORE the front room and kitchen tile? well, i guess i have to take it back. in the last couple weeks. Tony, stripped the dog room down to studs, added new drywall, insulation and vented A/C , textured, and painted, and Tiled the new storage room, i still call it the dog room. BUT now there is A/C and last week Lance took a couple days off of work to get the crap done here. they tiled one day, and then the next they put in the shelving, loads and loads, the room looked bigger and better before the shelving, BUT i failed to take pictures, so imagine a nice clean empty room.

then Lance's Boss Scott, and his wife asked today why i hadn't posted pictures yet? umm, because i whined so much about it i was resisting the OOHS and AHHHHHHHs over it. Oh and it doesn't look so great yet with all the tools on the shelves, i was going to take pictures the other day but discovered the storage of non lovely things, until they were done working on it and the tools and ladders weren't stored in here anymore, SO i was waiting, but here you go Scott and Mo! and everyone else. that wants to see the wonder of our new storage room.

I give you the new and improved Dog room. Lance calls it the pantry now. and the dogs aren't allowed in anymore. the tile isn't sealed yet.

we still have to paint. but then you wouldn't be able to see the shelves since it's all going to be WHITE!

the view from the dining room door. looking into the new Pantry
(the white closed door is the door to the outside/back yard)
to the left of the door
see the outlet? that is where the spare fridge goes
more of the left of the door,
the shelves run the whole length of the wall, and are 24 inches deep.
This is from the corner you just saw. pictured above
you can see the dining room door, and the pass through window and the shelves going over the door , and the shelf over the fridge spot.
straight shot from the outside door looking into the dining room
looking at the fridge spot, and you can see the 16 inch shelves to the left of the picture.
and the tile that will match the rest of the main floor
here you can see the shelves are between both doors, the dining room door open, and the closed laundry room door.
(see my real pantry shelves with bins, and the light?)
here are the 16 inch shelves,
they can fit 14 twelve packs of soda,7 across and 2 high. HEHE
and this is the corner where the 12 inch shelves go(they ran out of wood today), behind the laundry room door(with the window) just the right size so the door can open , and we can maximize the space.
more shelves over the top of the doorways, and you can see the molding over the outside door way to the left. OH and you can see the NEW A/C vent . oooh la la! ~~
this rooms purpose?
long term storage and storage of large items,
like stockpiled toilet paper and paper towels,
the crock pot, and other less used items,
it's the home of the spare fridge to hold cold beverages,
it will also hold food storage, our 72 hour kits, some water storage,
Extra canned goods, and anything else that needs a spot to stay. i have a feeling the shop vac will live in here too.

Lance did the A/C , re-routed the wiring, fixed some stupid wiring for the outside lights, added some outlets, laid most of the tile, and put up most of the shelving. oh and he helped drywall, and sand and texture the room. they have been working on it on Saturdays and a couple days this week.

Tony did the tear up. the drywall, the insulation, the texture, and sanding, the priming and painting, the tile, the shelving, the doors, and brought the tools.
~~
Lance was a licensed contractor in a past life
( that means before he sucked it up and went to school)
Time line? he worked for Tony, we had our own flooring company ,he was partners with Tony,
he worked at Home depot, then, he was a department manager at Home depot, the he went to school, did an internship, got a job, got laid off, and now he works for his current company which he loves.

any questions?

Is it ok if I "covet" your dog room! I am seriously in love with it!!! Are Lancy and Tony for hire???

Love all that storage, especially where the shelves go over the door. I miss the basement I had in Utah so much. It's been hard to adjust to no storage here in AZ.

I've always had this strange love affair with shelving and this really does it for me. ;)
