still rash-tastic, no real info. and seriously the grossest/coolest site ever!
so the deal is...
Pierce's rash is still there. i put benadryl cream on it. and it's still there.
i don't have an liquid handy.
So i finally got a call back from the peds . office after 5:00 saying that they couldn't diagnose over the phone. which wasn't really what i was after anyway. i WANTED to KNOW what shots he got last week. the rash is just a bonus. i'm watching it. but not concerned enough to take him in. yet.
it's looking more chicken pocky. one on his neck looks vesicle-ish so we'll see. and by now i totally recall Liberty getting the pox after shots.
and Pierce has kind of reacted not awesome to shots before. rash after some shot. the runs after all of them. fever. etc. lets face it, this kid has to to everything the hard way. that's just how he rolls.
so short of taking him in, i have no real answers. but in the past i have successfully self-diagnosed, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, pictures of Hand-foot and mouth disease, 5th disease, pictures of 5th disease, impetigo, yeast rash, and heat rashes.
and every time they get chicken pox, it eludes me because it is always a mild case, since they have all been vaccinated previously/recently.
while in my search for information i found this site! and holy crap! it's amazing! you can see some of the freaking grossest stuff EVER! you can find regular rashes, sure but cysts and infections and cancers, and insect bites and stings, alopecia, including every cool or gross thing you would want to see. even Leprosy!
Yeah i spent some quality time. and some of the things i saw i had to think WHAT THE HELL!?! why would you EVER let something like that, get that big or infected? EWWWW! 2 words, POP IT! call a freaking DR. and get that taken care of! GROSS!
It's not for the feint of heart/stomach or for hypochondriacs. you know, since you would perhaps FREAK OUT and think you had something scary or disgusting. I'm sure some Dr's wouldn't appreciate that kind of annoying patient calling non stop for Internet onset paranoia. but ya know if maybe you wanted to check out something your dr. told you, you already had, well then jackpot!
oh and there are body parts! care to see a cyst on a scrote? sick! they have them on there. a rash on a ___? yeah totally lots of that too! so consider yourself warned. rashes, growths, ingrown things, funky fungus's, extra fingers , you name it they had it.
so i'll let you know what Pierce's rash does tomorrow. or if and when i go see the Dr. he doesn't have a fever. and he's been acting pretty normal. so who freaking knows.
i guess i'll do awards tomorrow.
Oh and yes i will get the HPV vaccination for my girls someday. I'm not delusional in thinking that they could never get a sexually transmitted disease. i know alot of mom's aren't getting it, thinking if they aren't at risk, they aren't sexually active, i don't want them to be sexually active, why do it? well everyone has their agency, whether i hope they won't be sexually active at a young age, or i teach them religious principals and wish they made good choices always. i am realistic that they may or may not do that. why risk something that we could hopefully prevent with a shot? that's just my opinion. still not looking for an argument on vaccinations. and i know lots of people feel strongly regarding the new Gardasil vaccination. and don't agree with giving it to their daughters. you go ahead and do what you need to do. and I'll do what i think is right for my girls.

I'll do the HPV vaccine for the girls too. It's just smart.
AS for the rash...I am clueless. My first reaction is CRACK OUT THE BENEDRYL, but obviously you did that and it didn't help. Hope it goes away soon and that its not contagious!! Because that is so NOT rad!!
Good luck!
wow i should NOT have clicked on that link...naSSSty!
J has already had the forst 2 shots for the HPV vaccine. i was leaning towards her not getting but her daddy made some good points on why she should. including the fact that babymama had cervical cancer and so did babymama's 4 sisters....soooo even though it guards against the virus that causes cervical cancer and it is a sexually transmitted virus we went ahead and did it.
i wasn't thinking there was "NO WAY MY daughter" would be sexually active...actually that was the last thing on my mind. i was just unesy about it being a new vaccine and there weren't enough studies out there for me to make an educated decision. Paul had been praying about it and felt strongly so we went with it.
interestingly she started getting warts not long after the first vaccination. HPV is a virus that causes warts. the warts are almost all gone now, thanks to duct tape. and there are no new ones popping up.
(cue shooting star...the more you know!)
i am sooo curious about the baby's rash...
I think you are right. My kids all got mini chicken pox after that shot.
Ugh that site is gross I wasn't going to look you had me at leprosy. To cool. I kinda like that gross stuff. It's interesting.
Yup totally getting my DD the HPV shot too. I can teach her to stay away from other diseases too like um... people with chicken pox or measles, or etc. But isn't it just better to vacinate? It's better to prepare and prevent. Personal decison but I am there with ya.
Thanks for letting me know about what is on that site. I am TOTALLY grossed out by that stuff. LOL
I hope his rash heals quickly!!!
seriously gonna have to check that out. love gross stuff!
since it is way early, i am going to opt out of the links. what age do they get the HPV, i live in reality too so we will be getting that shot. hope things get better with pierce soon.
I don't ususally have a weak stomache, but after going to that sight I felt a little gross. That's some nasty/sad stuff!
"A cyst on a scrote?" I can't believe you even made cookies after you saw that.
That is just WRONG.
You know, I am not totally sure what I am going to do about that new vaccine yet, It's still so new and no one knows the long term affects yet so maybe I will wait a few years and then re-think it. I am defenitly not opposed to it, I think it's a good thing out there for a good reason.
Sorry you don't know what he has yet, I hope you find out soon, hopefully it's not something that everyone else will catch, that would suck.
My daughter had the same reaction after her shots. I freaked out too. After wasting the co-pay they said it was from the shots. Showed up almost one week after too. The minute I saw your pics I thought I wonder if he had shots... So thats my guess for sure!
Cookies at 1am. Your awesome.
♥ All I have to say is ouch! I've been so lucky with all my kids! They don't react at all to any of the shot and knock on wood that they stay that way!!! I hope the rash goes away very soon! :)
I can't in good conscience, as a Women's Health professional, let someone not get the HPV vaccine. Almost half of my patients have HPV. It is everyone, not just the girls that start having sex at 13.
Saddest story? My sister's friend waited until she got married to have sex, and she got to almost 30! Her husband gave it to her, and she is now battling cervical cancer. That is not fair, and it can be prevented.
I am not naive because I see it! Guess what? My daughters will go on the pill when they are 15 for "cramps". If people stop saying, "I am not going to do to that because my kids shouldn't be having sex", then our STDs and teen pregnancies will go down. Sorry just the facts!
Gonna check out that gross site the minute I have time! All for the girl shots too. Better safe than sorry.
