Joy-ful words. the wonder of living with JOY!

there is nothing better than a playground ball helmet, and a dollar store sword.

~~

Joy is recently obsessed with catalogs. (just like her mother) Yesterday after perusing a handful (read PILE) of last years catalogs Joy and Hope found by my bed (what? So what if i have issues with hoarding them?) They poured over the glorious toy catalogs and whatnot. after saying they wanted everything on every page, they were on a hunt for MORE!

In my hall bathroom(so what if i like to read in the bathroom? it's the only place i get a minimum of privacy for reading), they happened upon an issue of People with Sarah Palin on the cover. and decided that was a good one, "maybe we'll find babies in this one. and we'll look at that jewelry one next!" then i heard the best part ...Joy exclaimed to Hope as they ran off to search for more,"we are just like REAL women now, looking at all these catalogs!" i didn't have the heart to tell her that people is a MAGAZINE, not a catalog, and the babies in there aren't for sale. and IF we were to want a new baby we'd be going the conventional route. but she knows that. kind of.

and NOW i know why my mom always let me look at catalogs to wish, and DREAM of the wonders they had but always handed them over with the disclaimer of she didn't want to hear me ask for anything. I am now getting a glimpse of the demanding, delusional child i probably was. Talking about and Wishing for every wondrous thing there is in a catalog. NOT DELIGHTFUL! almost totally annoying. and yet. i can't be too impatient, since i am TOTALLY THE SAME WAY! i know where she gets it, and I'm totally to blame.

My kids like to get a pen and circle everything they want in a catalog. But since I have never bought anything as a result of them doing so, I think they get it (that it is just wishful thinking).

Nothing wrong with a little wishing and day dreaming. And if I could order a baby from a catalog, I totally would.

Now we are real women! Love it. Ah, don't you just love what they pick up. I seriously have to watch everything I do. It's becoming not soo fun.

She is FUNNY! Looking at a few catalogs makes her feel grown up? LOL Why not! Love her silly dollar store treasures photos!

My mom used to let us look thru dept store catalogs & circle a few things to add to the wish list. That's how she would know what we wanted. My sister used to get carried away and just fold the corner of all the pages she liked! hahaha

I know Felicia feels cool every time her American Girl magazine shows up!!! I never had a magazine at age 9! I think we got a few SuperTeen magazines once in a while but I was a little older. We used to tear out the cute boy pages & hang 'em on our walls! :)

We are a boring house, only get ensign, liahona and the friend..

Maybe I should invest.

It's ok, I still get told no when I look at catalogs. When do we start hearing yes?:)

I like to cut mine up and make wish books. But you probably don't want them cutting yours up, or doing messy art projects. But it sure makes me feel better to know exactly where my favorite wished-for things are.

I put all my books in the bathroom. Who cares if I get a big red circle on my butt, it was private time!

I still wish and dream about all the cool things in catalogs. I also keep them until I can't order out of them, with lots of circles of stuff that I really want in the catalog. Its just more fun that way!

PS I know that I haven't commented in forever, I've been in a blogging funk :( So Hello again!
