holiday talk, and getting glam. what more could you ask for?

AHHHH, (deep sigh of relief)

all is right on the blog again.

i changed my avatar back to "domestically disabled".

i just couldn't handle the change right now. my comments Just didn't look or feel right to me without my little profile image.

i must cling to it for a little while longer. it's ok. i can still use my other thing as a sidebar picture.

WHEW!

much better.

SO i am currently getting glam again with the glitter sweat.

you can imagine where.

i'm doing my cups.

more of them. to get those orders done. and for gifting purposes .

and really for the fun creative outlet that it is. it really is pretty fab.

i won't tell ya what fab ideas i'm working on. but, YOU. WILL. DIE. When you see them. holy hades. SO GLAMTASTIC!

So, what have you been up to?

i finally deleted all the unread posts in my reader and been just keeping up with who posts as the days go by. and things are MUCH BETTER.

it got crazy there for awhile over 550 unread posts. and seriously i was OVERWHELMED.

so that is a huge load off.

HUGE.

busy busy week.

again.

does it ever slow down?

these crazy overbooked weekends are killing me. and I'm SUPER glad i didn't get sucked into signing the boys up for a sport. or the girls or anyone. man that would super complicate my time further. and i frankly don't need one more obligation, or time suck right now. well, between now and the new year.

i'm getting ready to start alerting everyone to the black friday deals as they start coming up. it is my favorite day of the WHOLE FREAKING YEAR! and the TOY's R 'US big book is already listed online. not that i want to or plan to purchase anything like that this year.

i am boycotting the purchase of toys at my house this year. especially Toys with parts. or the kind that make loud noises, or take up space. i only want to buy video games, (ROCK BAND or Guitar Hero World Tour) . and maybe some Gameboys.

The kids keep telling us they will happily share some Gameboy DS 's if we get them for them. like one for the big boys and one for the big girls. but i'm thinking it's smarter if i get them for Me and Lance. and they earn the privelage of using ours. and then they can't fight over whose turn it is, and "he always plays, i never get a turn!" and there will be no bickering. because bickering loses the privelage of using my game system.

yay me. i am a genius. i think it may totally work to my advantage and avoid most of the confilcts. since there isn't a chance that i'm buying 5 gameboy DS's this holiday season unless of course they suddenly become dirt cheap . which they won't until a new system comes out. i'm realisitic. and i have a budget. this will make it easier for me. in theory anyway.

so i'm wondering some christmas stuff.

can you humor me and let me know what you think?

1.do you think about the stuff you'd like for christmas?

2.how early do you think about it?

3.do you make a list of what you'd like?

4.are you practical about Christmas gifts?

5. do you prefer gifts that are frivolous and extravagent?

6.what is your per person limit in your family you try to stick to?

7.do you budget a set amount for christmas shopping?

8. do you buy it all on credit?

9.when do you start shopping?

10.which is more important to you?

a.saving money and getting the best deal?

b.saving time, you don't have time to shop around, or time is money to you?

I'm trying to catch up on reading too- I've been out of blogging world for a while. Hope you don't mind if I just start back up with you here. Because I love your blog to death. Catching up with past posts is a beast though. As far as Christmas I am so not ready to even think about it. And i know I need too, I just don't want too. And i am boycotting the same. Can we start a mom's against noise support group?

i never make a list for what i want. it is all about the kid at Christmas...it is all year long why should holidays be eny different ;) i set a budget and i stick to it. i buy gifts all year long and tuck them away and base a budget off of what i already have and what i might need.

my siblings and i draw for family gifts. it works out well. is better financially and allows for more creative gift giving without hurt feelings.

i can hardly imagine what the holidays will be like this year since my folks report to the MTC on Nov 3...gonna be strange.

I have also once again gotten so behind. I know I need to mark them all as read but I just hate to because I want to read it all. UGH I have been busy busy busy and my 10 on Tues. seems to be all I have posted in forever. Oh well at least I have that LOL

1.do you think about the stuff you'd like for christmas? Yes but never make a list and never buy any of it because I do the mom thing and spend it all in the kids.

I am practical about Christmas gifts I want it to be something people can actually use and enjoy. The kids always get some clothes and sometimes coats and etc. Plus the stocking are usually filled with soaps, socks, shampoo, etc along with some fun stuff. But hey it fills the sock and they use it.

What is your per person limit in your family you try to stick to. We draw names and have it set to $15 on my hubby's side I just try to come up with something I can makde for each family.. or a family game since they don't draw names. It is actually cheaper on his side because on my side with us drawing names and the kids to that is $15 each for 6 people. OUCH

Do not budget very well. I suck with money. I just try to be cheap and then always spend too much.

I try to pay it all from checking and now have a Christmas Acct. that I have been putting $$ in since I started working too. But yrs past I did it all on credit cuz I had no other options and didn't want my kids to have bad Christmases. That was a hole that was not fun climbing out of. So now I will go with out or get creative before pulling out a credit card.

When do you start shopping? Try to put a few things away starting about Sept. but I do most my shopping after Thanksgiving and LOTS the week before Christmas. LOL Last minute is how I do everything.

Which is more important to you?
a.saving money and getting the best deal?
b.saving time, you don't have time to shop around, or time is money to you?
That is a hard one it little of both. I love a good deal but I will not spend time running from store to store. That is just triping over a dollar to save a dime. But I will comparison shop online, and hopefully find a coupon.

Don't ask me questions I will fill up your whole blog answering. LOL

I'm with you on the avatar thing--change freaks me out too. As for overwhelming amounts of blogs to read-yeah I'm there too, which is why I love PSF and my blogger reader. It just makes things simpler for me. THen again, I've never been super great at staying in touch more than weekly. I'm slowly working up to daily though.
I have a question for you: do you contract out your crafting services? I am seriously craft challenged and I REALLY need to do 2 pay it forwards. I have no idea what to do. You are totally talented, so even if you don't have time (which I totally get) maybe just some suggestions?

As for Christmas, please let me humor you...
I think about Christmas starting in August; I make a list starting in October for me and everyone I shop for and add to it as needed; NO practical gifts in my house what-so-ever I truly believe Christmas is to appreciate the wonderment of the season and delight in the child in all of us--We do set limits for spending and we keep it fair for all of the family members.....Nothing is bought on credit-this way I can have a clear conscience for the frivolous stuff, at least it's paid for....;I will gladly spend more money if it means getting the best deal,
and time is absolutely money, so that I may just play and relax and enjoy time with Sophie rather than stress and worry about gifts and things.
Here's what I do--online mostly for the kiddo, maybe plan one or two trips to shop for hubby with Sophie, and then hubby and I plan ONE day during Christmas to power shop for the rest of the family. This really cuts down on the stress of shopping, and gives us lots of free time to sing carols, go sledding, and watch Christmas movies with yummy hot chocolate!

OK, that's it. I sooooo love that you give your readers a chance to totally talk to you on the comments. I'm going to try this soon!
Have a great day Julie!

Holy cow; I can't believe you go out on Black Friday! Brave, brave woman. I hide in the corner that entire weekend, eating leftover turkey and cranberry sandwiches.

okay, answers:

1. I TRY not to think about the stuff I'd like for Christmas, since most of it is overpriced, unnecessary things that would be left behind in an emergency. (All I can seem to think about lately is the impending emergency that, in my mind, is sure to happen soon after the election. Oh wait, it's not just me; Joe Biden said so, too; thanks for the warning, Joe!).

2. I'm thinking about Christmas now, so I guess mid-October.

3. I don't make a list, but sometimes I ask Todd to cut pictures out of magazines of all the crazy things we'd buy each other if we had money to throw away. It's fun! I always "get" him a Range Rover or some other cool car. hehe

4. I'm sort of practical about gifts. The kids each get one "expensive" item and a few small things. The expensive thing has to be really useful, like Rock Band (hehehe).

5. If we had lots of dough, yes, so no.

6. Per person limit: $200

7. No budget. We go with the flow but try to stick to our limits.

8. We buy NOTHING on credit, EVER. Credit is EVIIIIILLLLLLE!

9. I start shopping about right now.

10. Saving time wins out if I'm shopping in December. Now (October) I will try for the best deal.

Great idea on the gameboy DS! I wish would have thought of something like that, instead I am dealing with the headache of kids fighting over them and homework not being done because of them!

Can I order a couple of cups?

For christmas presents we try and buy one big present for each of the kids and then two or three small ones! I usually start buying presents in august so it is not as big a blow to the check book! We try not to put anything on credit, this year maybe different! Time is money for me so I dont usually travel to far to get a good deal.

I had so much fun at Leslie's GNO the other night. It was great to spend time with you and get to see the glamtasticness that is you!

As for Christmas, I used to start buying a gift or so a week in about August and found that I had so much stuff that it was ridiculous. My kids don't need it and I don't have room for it! Now we are broke this year, so we are using a different tactic. Small budget, creative gifts. A little homemade or second hand stuff that is "glammed up". I found a vanity on craigs list for really cheap and I am going to paint it and recover the bench for my daughter. Cheap and so girly! Thats the kind of stuff I will be doing this year. The kidlets have been warned that Christmas will never be like it used to be, and that it never should have been that way in the first place!

Good luck to you on it all!

Ugh...all questions I ask myself!! We try to budget..buy early.. spend less.. But at the end of the day...if we see something cute and not on sale..we will pick up. We try to have limits but get caught up in the hoopla sometimes..I would much rather take a trip with the family..that ALWAYS has my vote!!

1.Mostly no. But this year, yes. I want a REALLY good camera. I'm obsessed. If I can't have that I want some low top Chuck Taylors.

2. I've been thinking and obsessing about a camera for months.

3. Not usually.

4. Not really. I LOVE to look for the perfect gift for people and usually those aren't practical.

5. For me, no. Not extravagant anyway. I guess the camera IS extravagant...so never mind. YES. I do.

6. Like my extended family? Well, we're poor and we have TONS of family, so $20-$30. For our kids its WAY higher. Because I am in love with Santa.

7. No, but that's a good idea.

8. We don't. Not any of it.

9. Black Friday.

10.which is more important to you?
A. Most certainly.

So...now do you wonder about me? I do. :)

Our Christmas this year is going to be LEAN! I have picked up a couple of things for the kids here and there. Brian and I haven't exchanged gifts for about 5 years. We figure we usually buy whatever we want during the year - we'll save Christmas for the kids. In the past we've given our money that would've been spent on each other to a family we know that could use it. This year though, we just don't have it! I need cute neighbor gift ideas. I'm sure you have lots of good ones! Time to share more of your craftiness!!

Good ideas on the DS's and I totally know what you mean by overbooked weekend (HOLY COW...that's totally this weekend)!!! 1. Not really 2. Ummm...(see #1), 3. nope (I do dream of things like Photoshop 4, but I don't make a "realistic" list 4. somewhat 5. not really 6. We set limits on the gift exchange with each family (I think it's $15 per person on my side this year--we are doing a moidified "nice" white elephant) and on David's side we are doing family gift baskets this year (we drew names and give to one family) and the limit is $50. 7. no--though I should 8. no, I don't have a credit card (my hubby does, but I've never used it) 9. Probably around September I start "thinking" then in October I might start to pick up things here and there--always thinking I will be "done" by December, but it's never happened yet. 10. that's a tough one...both good points

ps. Most of the people that have ordered dresses so far are out of town, and the only dress that's really been ordered by several people is the first polka dotted dress, other than that I haven't had too many repeat orders.

I'm seriously thinking I want food storage for Christmas. Or one of those thingies that sucks all the air out so you can bag your own food storage and have it last longer (like sugar...and chocolate). And I know you love Black Friday, but I really try to have most of mine done by then. And if I can get free shipping and order it on-line, it saves me time and gas and stress.

I am totally playing catch up too. I haven't blogged much or read blogs or commented much! I feel so behind & not in the mood really.

I LOVE decorating for Halloween & Christmas {probably cuz those are the only holidays that I have any decorations for}! I think Christmas is the best because you can start decorating pretty early & leave it up longer! We'll be lucky if we even have a budget for Christmas. Don't know how we're going to fit that in this year! YIKES! But if we do have a dollar to our name for gifts, then we like to keep it kinda simple. Our kids don't want much cuz they don't totally care about toys. We purged a ton of stuff a couple months ago. I don't really want to bring more crap back in.

goingsome said...

1.Yes I think of things I would like for Christmas, but usually don't get, since I am too practical. We usually just buy for the kids.

2.I have started thinking about Christmas early this year. I have already starting buying for the kids, as I see screaming deals.

3.I really don't, though sometimes I do make a list, since it helps the parents to buy for us.

4.I am practical about gifts. The kids pajamas, clothes, and yes toys too.

5. I prefer luxury gifts. The kind that you wouldn't buy for yourself, but wanted all along. I find that if it is something that I want, then usually the receiver enjoys it too.

6.Per person limit is $75 to $100. Yes we usually stick to it.

7.Yes, budget is the only way I can keep track of our spending.

8. Nope no credit, cash and carry. It avoids the "sick feeling" when it is all over.

9.I have already started shopping. A few thinks here and there and then by the time the hustle and bustle starts I am done. I am on my game this year!! YEAH!!!

10. I am all about saving money and the best deal. I have more time than money, so I shop wisely.
