the birthday rundown.

Birthday run down-

Poor Peyton had a bad day.

we were over 30 minutes late. LAME.

then at some point during recess he got in a fight . not awesome.

some little $hit of a kid, picked on Peyton's friend. and Peyton defended his friend. by hitting the little turd.( and this turd is the one that happened to have pushed Peyton while playing basketball last year. and broke his arm.) So Peyton defended his friend ticking off the turd. and ended up getting pushed down, and skinning his face. well when the aide tried to break it up Peyton wouldn't let it go, and kept threatening to kick his butt. so Peyton won a trip to the principals office. got a 'ticket' and 3 days lunch detention.

GREAT. so he walked in this afternoon skinned up and pathetic looking. and i felt bad i sent him to school on his birthday. and made promises that i won't make him go again on his birthday ever. since this school is lame and doesn't allow birthday treats thus limiting the celebrating of the birthday child in the school setting. which adds up to disappointment and anger .

this is one of those days i consider homeschooling. (for like 3 seconds.) i feel bad. but I'd say it's a life lesson. if you are going to defend a friend make sure you get the best of the turd. and take his punk-A down. make that detention WORTH IT. and well deserved. not a half @$$ed effort. (which i was horrified when Lance was telling him this, and yet, after thinking about it all evening i tend to agree. of course i hype the avoid confrontation at all costs , but we can't seem to stay out of trouble)

i am the best mom huh?

sheesh.

so after some tears over retelling the story. we looked at his birthday post and birthday wishes from my blog friends. and he felt better. and we listened to his birthday song and danced.

and then he went and played Lord of the rings online. until dad came home so we could go shopping alone.

except we weren't alone. we took Pierce with us. who fell asleep in the car. and kept nodding off in the cart at Toys R us. where Peyton got to pick his own present.

he selected an acoustic guitar. a cheapy kid one. but he was pretty stoked. and if he learns anything from the lesson book , and continues his interest in learning to play, we'll get a better one and lessons. later.

then we collected the family and went to Mi Amigo's for our traditional birthday dinner. they love to go. i let them pick what they want or where they want to go and that is always the winner.

and then we hit My little sister Maria's house for cake. her son Nate is 7 today he was born on Peyton's 3rd b-day. so we always party down together. which is awesome.

i made the giant cupcake but didn't have enough powdered sugar for the homemade butter cream frosting so we were cruising frosting from a can which is frankly grody. i had some odd film on the back of my teeth after eating it. and since the can frosting isn't firm enough it didn't decorate well.

whatever. it was fine, just don't expect pictures.

so there we are. we had an exciting day. i wouldn't call it great, but it was definitely not boring.

Turning Ten was kind of hard. on both of us.

Like WOW. What a day!!! I am hoping that when our oldest turns 10 next week we will have a less eventful day...especially because there is no school that day, so any fights would be with siblings...and I'm not down with that.
Happy Birthday Peyton!!

Lame! I can't believe that your school doesn't allow treats! I would keep my kids home too. But I wouldn't home school either, LOL! Well, it sounds like his day was AWESOME once he was home with the family and that's what counts, right? Happy birthday Peyton!

Awwww so that's what happened. Told ya my kids were concerned & wanted to know if he was ok. Poor guy! What a little jerk for picking on his friend. I guess it's a birthday he'll never forget!

At least MOM can make everything BETTER!!! You Rock! Can't wait to hear what he learns on that guitar! Guess he's determined to play a stringed instrument! LOL

Hey, next time you're out of something...call me! I'm just around the corner & if I have it, I'm more than happy to share with ya! I'll even deliver!

Coach is big on the whole "if you're going to do it, make it good and make it memorable so they don't do it again" theory here, too.
