♥Happy Mildly Disappointed day♥! aka ♥Valentines day ♥

So, Valentines day is HERE!

and no matter what i bought for myself i can't help but be mildly disappointed.

I got a CUTE CUTE iron dress form that i wanted for my hall bathroom redo or maybe to hold my fave necklace. it's DARLING. i love love it! but almost wish i would have gotten the bigger one OR got both of them. but since i'm eternally feeling CHEAP. i didn't. but the ideal valentines gift would be Lance insisting that i go get it even though we don't really have the funds for it.

we went out last night to avoid the crowds. and had a Great dinner. including the best cheesecake i've had in a LONG TIME. i love cheesecake. and yeah it was a pre appetizer night. DELIGHTFUL!

because "life is uncertain eat dessert first"

we saw Confessions of a Shopaholic. which was FABULOUS. even Lance liked most of it. i will definitely own it. and maybe see it again and again at the theater. loved it!

i Could have done without...

-the long discussion after the movie of the reason Lance hated parts of it. yeah that kinda bugged. but everyone has their things they can't stand. i just wish the sharing of opinions could wait until later, much later. like never?

- i still don't feel rad. and that right there is putting a damper on my idea of a good time(wink wink) on valentines day. every day it s good day for some lovin' but on valentines day? TOTALLY a must have. ((sigh))

and holy Hannah i would really like a fabulous card from my lover on Valentines day. but i can't in anyway rationalize or condone spending $4-8 bucks on a FABULOUS card. i don't care how fabulous it is. it's paper. with glitter maybe. and a sentiment. even the crappy cards are 3 bucks and i don't do crappy.

well just hand over 8 bucks and write a sentiment on a post it note.
SERIOUSLY the prices for cards these days is SICKENING.

and i'm sorry but making my own fabulous card for Lance to write on, not sounding like a plan.of course i considered it though. which would be a disappointment in it's own way.

but enough about that... onto the good stuff!

tonight we are having a lazy night in WITH the herd. we are doing fancy pancake dinner. multi colored heart pancakes (like my jackolantern ones) who doesn't love breakfast for dinner?

i do have to say the Kids are LOVING the stuffed valentine animals (that i bought on clearance last year for this year, i'm a genius) and boxes of chocolate they got from me and Lance.

i went to breakfast this morning with my Dad and sisters and little brother. it was for our birthdays' (last year) and valentines day. it was interesting to say the least. (seriously hearing "ok Hun", and 'i love you too ' from my dad to his "partner"not rad and then having the fact that it is their anniversary today, but it was made official in CA last summer discussed ,um yeah not rad)

Lance came in and wished me a happy mildly disappointed day. he knows me so well.

and well it's not like there is any money to make it amazingly fabulous. (it's mid pay period)

but i did get ONE fabulously big cookie from my scout Paxton on wednesday.

(i'm so glad i made him go!)

and ONE fabulous sparkley paper cupcake from Joy.

and ONE sweet giant heart note Valentine from Peyton.

and these are the valentines mailboxes i whipped up-

Thursday afternoon for the pink one

(Click on it to see it bigger, so you won't miss the rhinestones ,flowers and glitter.)

and the middle of the night for the red one.

and apparently Joy didn't even need one,

she just wanted me to make her something .

so she took her valentines in it to pass out. sheesh

well i hear someone playing guitar hero downstairs in the Vortex.

and i'm thinking that sounds like a good time for Valentines day!

and so in that spirit...

I HOPE YOUR

VALENTINES DAY ROCKS!

i'm just gonna go refill my cup with more cranberry juice,

and go play guitar hero with the kids.

Cute Valentine boxes! I would be saving those babies for next year too!! I also bought things last year on clearance for this year's gifts for the boys. And giant Hershey's bars. They were thrilled. At least you got a date last night. Luvpilot comes home tonight. And I'm not sure, but Aunt Flo may come too. How's that for a fun V-day? Maybe it's getting back at me because I cursed it?

I loved your whole commentary! And since I only got one peppermint Luna bar (ok my husband loves me), I would definitely agree it was midly disappointing.

Don't they usually make something for moms in school.

Sheesh, where is the love?

Mildly disappointing day is a good summary of what V-day really is. I got to spend the evening (early part) at my mother in law's. Then went grocery shopping by myself. I did get flowers from Bashas' from my husband. But I think he could do better.

Holy Cow girl! I can't believe you put so much time into those Valentine's day boxes. They are super duper cute though! I must admit, I think that's why I had all boys. They'd be totally happy with a shoe box or a ziploc bag...and that's about where my creativity stops! Hope you feel better soon. I had a bunch of killer UTI's. I feel for you! Ugh!

I hear you on the card thing....they are sooo expensive, and WHY? They didn't use to be! But, my hubby is the eternal card man so I always get a good one...even if he does spend $8 at hallmark (because he HAS to get them from hallmark....he's obsessed!) We had kiddos too....and a sick baby....but hey, it's the thought of LOVE that counts right!?! LOVE your boxes....you are soooo creative! :)

The boxes turned out so cute! Love to plan to eat out the night before and celebrate with the kids on Vday.

I remember growing up and thinking, "ahhh...Valentines day will be so romantic someday!" NOT! Friday we had dinner out WITH the kiddo's (NEVER a fun idea!) and then dropped them to a friends so we could go see a movie. A romantic one? Heck no!) Benjamin Button. It was fine. Not gonna gush over it. Then the official Vday? Nada! Shawn worked all night. ROMANCE...what is that?! LOL!

We are LOVING GH here too. I have to say that cards are CRAZY-priced too. NO WAY on that good time.
:) Hope you found some deals this morning. We have NO FUNDS, so I am going to have to pay full price at savers later. :(
