i'm a clown car driver sitting with my bad side to the room.
it is my duty as the single mom this week, to drive kids to school , plus take the little kids with me to drop off, since they were awake.
my mom bus is BROKEN, so we took the "mini car" (regular compact car) . the kids all pile in.
we drive to our kids school and out pile 4 kids. but with everyone packed in,
i feel like i am suddenly the driver of a clown car.
i barely shoved the people out the door, and got home and into the house after some negotiating with Pierce who still had a hankering for adventure and wanted to "go", meaning not get out of the car.
i served beverages, to my demanding patrons. and settled in to post about my clown car driving status on Facebook. and the blog. when a call from Liberty at school reminded me that she was being awarded "Winning Attitude" at school today in the quarterly assembly in 1.5 minutes. OY!
i quickly wrangled the 2 year old into a fresh diaper and clothes, and grabbed my camera, and purse and rushed out the door.
we had to Park across the street, since parking space was limited and already full from the parents that didn't have to be reminded that it was an assembly today. we hustled across the street.
and enter the "multi-purpose room" (cafeteria/gym/auditorium) the scent of school breakfast lingered while the odor of lunch was just beginning.
and i arrived just as the Pledge of Allegiance is being said. we joined in mid pledge. while i casually perused my seating options on that side of the room. and planned my least embarrassing alternate route to the opposite side , where seating was plentiful.
we crossed through the teachers lounge and plopped down.
of course i was sitting with my bad side to the room.
note the hole in my hair, the flat sleeping side , the bed head. this is the bad side.
for reference-the good side- smooth, chic, combed.
and while i'm casually horrified by my lack of grooming, i get over it, and dive into my purse for my camera as they are beginning to announce the Winning attitude awards.
i spotted Joy sitting with her class, and turn on my camera to snap a picture of her , and low and behold....
NO BATTERY!
DAMN IT! it was still in the charger , in the kitchen, AT HOME!
i bust out my cell phone and text my friend that usually comes to the assemblies, and ask her to take a picture of Liberty on the stage with her award....and my friend texts back while i'm capturing the kodak moment with my camera phone that she isn't there today. she's at the dentist. DARN IT!
we made do with the camera phone.
afterward i captured the 3 kids that were in the assembly that belong to me and snapped thier pictures. Joy got a mention for being a math facts master.
while Paxton begged to be picked up early. i said if i did pick him up early all he'd get to do is clean , so maybe he should stay at school.
we survived the wonder. and after looking at my self portraits of my good side vs my bad side, i'm thinking that my hair is so dark , maybe people can't really see the flaw from far away. since i had to lighten the picture so much to even be able to illustrate it. i can hope right?
so there we are. thus far my day has been DELIGHTFUL! (we are surviving anyway.)
and that is somethin'! yay me!
~~
in other summer news, my summer plans for the kids daily entertainment has officially been thwarted. our school is not doing boredom busters, this year. and i'm not driving all over to drop them off. SO i guess we'll just have to make other plans. dang.
the time out catalog is out, as of today. FYI. here is the link
well, Have a Fabulous Tuesday!
i wanna know....
DO you think you have a good side and a bad side?

I hate when I forget about things and then have to scramble to get there!!
And I have 2 bad sides..my hair always looks horrible and tends to go back in a ponytai!!
Too funny! My slept on hair always gets a hat plopped on it. It just doesn't do well at all with sleeping.
I just dropped my poor son off at school, and as he jumped out of the car with me reminding him to hurry as he was about to be tardy, I saw his hair. I forgot to wet it down and gel it before leaving. Niiiice. Guess what else that means? No brushed teeth either. Good thing I gave him apple slices at lunch! :)
Apple slices at lunch, I'll remember that! It's always nice when the girls are telling me about their day and I have to stand back at their morning breath at 2:30 in the afternoon. Their poor teachers.
I love your hair cut. And I have a bad side, it doesn't have to do with sleeping though, It's the back right. I only notice when I'm checking my stack in the back. My hair is blonde and thin so I feel like everyone sees it
Hilarious. I have a good and bad.. and I love your hair cut!!
NICE! I have only been informed once this year about my kids getting awards. Unfortunately, we were out of town that day. :(
i never heard the end of missing an award assembly.
i love your bad side. mine is usually the back of my head.
this made me laugh ALOT!
Your right, your hair is too dark to notice your bad side. I never thought I had a bad side. Or rather, I never thought I had a good side;) ButI was taking a self portrait for a tag the other day and I TOTALLY have a bad(worse)side! WHo knew?
I have never thought about which side is good vs bad.......now I'll have to figure it out. I do know that no one was paying attention to your hair because they were all worried about thier own hair, kids, camera, babys, rushing etc. same as you. So smile and have no worried - you look fab I'm sure of it! ♥
