i have a question for you....

if your husband is out of town for work, but he's coming home today/tonight, your house may or may not be a complete pit....

A) DO YOU SCRAMBLE AND CLEAN THE HOUSE TO PRETEND IT WAS CLEAN THE WHOLE TIME?

OR

B) DO YOU JUST LEAVE IT? So he knows you obviously can't manage all of it , all on your own?

OR

C) do you go one step further, and attempt major overhauling like extreme makeover, while he's gone to surprise him?

i'm just wondering? let me know. i am on the edge of my seat waiting for your comments.

you know, so i can avoid the cleaning part. ahem, i mean, i really need to know and my house is already so clean, i have nothing to do.

YEAH, THAT'S IT!

I vote B. But then I obviously can't manage even with him most of the time!

I try to clean before he comes home, but don't pretend it was that way the whole time. I just figure if he comes home and it is messy, then there will be even less time to spend together because the cleaning will need to be done first.

As for the makeover thing, I have thought about doing it, but never have. Not sure why.

I would vote A, but I wouldn't pretend that it was clean the whole time he was gone. Because if it was me getting home from work or a trip I would want the house clean.

I would rush around trying to clean up. :) But it would probably be a bit of a mess all week until he got home. Just want to keep him guessing on the level of my skills. LOL.

I usually clean "what I can" before he gets home, Because I have either spent time doing things with the kids or spent some of the time going through stuff to give to D.I. The only time I get to throw things away is when he is gone!

Most the time I attempt to have it clean when he gets home, but alot of the time it doesn't happen. :) I say just leave it. :)

Well, our situations are a little different. But I usually try to have it picked up so he doesn't think I'm sitting on my butt the whole time he was gone....which sometimes I am. It's when he's home for a few days that I feel the need to act busy so he thinks I have lots more going on during the day than just blogging/shopping/reading/catching up on my shows. But it all depends on what you want him to think. Then go with that.

I depends on how my week went. If I was sick and it was hellish, he is going to know about it. If it went O.K, the house/kids will reflect that. Basically, no change. He can deal with my reality.

He could care a less if it were a mess, but I would like it picked up because I like it that way when I come home. But if it were spotless, it would look like I could handle it all by myself just fine, which I definitely cannot!

I would have it clean for ME not him. I have a problem and I fully admit to it. Saw you at the school today but we ran out after our man got his award.

I massive clean every night before he comes home so it looks like I did something during the day. When he's out of town - it all goes to pot and right before - BAM we clean and pretend I'm June Cleaver!

I'm all about the major overhaul! Not that the house is CLEAN when he gets home, but there will almost always be fresh paint somewhere and furniture moved. I usually scramble at the last minute to de-clutter, and then a spray of windex or something makes the house SMELL clean! :)
