some changes, and a little help from friends, please and thank you!
OK so, hmmm, where to start.
so i was chatting with a fave cousin the other day at the reunion, and she told me a tale of a blogger that found pics of her kids, her friends kids, and other peoples kids on some crazy foreign site.
they cataloged pictures, either copied, or linked(not sure) and labeled them
like kids in diapers
or kids with no shirts.
NOT COOL.
I've been semi paranoid lately about my blog.
ya never know who is looking at your blog right?? unless it's private.
today and yesterday i got googled by my real name.
which is the reason i go by crazymama, either you know me, or not, but i didn't wanna be searched.
too much info available to be found.
i never worried about using my kids real names because , my whole name isn't on here. right?
well, somehow it's all linked up on google these days.
it's been coming up for awhile. which i don't love.
remember back when i figured out people were searching for a certain porn star, and my blog was coming up from a caption listing 2 of my boys names in a certain order that happens to be the same as the porn star? NOT RAD! but i didn't go private, i just changed the caption and it fixed that problem.
my options are limited in my opinion with this blog.
it's all here, LOADS AND LOADS of stuff here. to much to go back and change the kids names, or to remove all the pictures that might be targeted.
BUT i just thought, maybe i can limit the info available.
SO, in order to prevent going private, or starting over on a different blog (which is my next option)
1. I'm taking off the ability for search engines to find me.(it's an option in settings)
2.I'm going back to partial feed since you have to actually click over to see the pictures, hopefully preventing people from snagging pics off of reader, or blog lines without me knowing they were looking.
and
HERE IS WHERE YOU COME IN...
3. I'm asking anyone out there that links to me as my real name (on your sidebar) PLEASE change it to crazymamaof6 or just Crazymama please. no last names, take off our real names if you link to us as a couple. etc. and from now on take it off, if you choose to link to us for some reason. JUST USE CRAZYMAMA, or Crazymamaof6.
recently(from my site meter) , i had noticed some downloads of old pages of Hope in her diaper blowing out candles, so i took the pics off, but who knows if someone already copied it.
i don't know. there is no way to tell.
SO I'm gonna try it this way for awhile.
and hopefully it helps with the random foreign blog searches, and google hits.
i might kill me to loose my google page ranking, and yet safety is more important.
maybe I'm overly paranoid, hopefully these changes help.
and prevent the dreaded going private issue.
the new changes are just a fix in theory so far. I'll let you know how it works out.

Better safe than sorry. Good ideas to help protect your fam.
When I started blogging a year ago I actually saw a news program about the dangers of blogging... but ya know it is not just blogging and its not just google. People can get your pictures from picture uploading sites like photobucket, facebook and myspace. You just have to be careful sometimes.
I hate how nasty the world can be. Good for you on being aware. I was naive and put WAY too much info on my blog in the beginning when I was public and had some major perverts telling me my daughter (who was 2 at the time) was hot. WHATEVER! I didn't wanna go private, but it had to happen. That or go back and change my entire blog, all the entries as well as my blog name and I was just too overwhelmed to do that! I've always intended on making another public blog, but am just TOO lazy! I miss being public! Good on you for discovering this and taking action before you were forced to do the private thing like me! Good luck!
I think I know of the person you are talking about. Ever since reading her blog a couple of days ago I have gone back & forth about going private. Pretty sure I will in the next week or so. Better to be safe then sorry. It's a scary world we live in.
Very sad that we have to think about this, but so smart too. I was driving through a neighboring city once (to visit a friend) and just happened to drive by a house that I recognized from pictures on a popular blog I follow. It freaked me out that some random person (me, in this case!) could actually randomly locate someone's home by things I had seen on their blog. Scary. Good luck with your fix.
It is better to be safe. It is scary what people will do. Good luck with the changes.
Every once in a while I will google my family names just to see if I find anything about them that I dont know about.
I agree with everyone else. Better to be safe.
Have you made sure your email doesn't say your real name either when and if you reply to comments? I made that change too.
I've never let the search engines be able to find my blog. That worried me from the start. And I make sure that even though my profile and posts say I live in AZ, I've never mentioned the city I live in just in case. You can never be too careful.
I checked that I don't want to be on search engines but somehow I still see Google searches. I haven't seen many and most a for MOMO twins so its so far harmless. I do watch who is looking fairly carefully too. It's scary. I try never to use my last name either and ask others not to as well.
You got to be careful. I hope this helps.
Oh My Goodness. What a creepy world we live in! I'm already linking as Crazymama, but I would for sure switch you if I needed to! Yikes!
Just got a creepy feeling.
I am trying to figure out how this should effect me to.
I double check-you are crazymama for me.
You are freaking me out! I have kind of hopped off the blog bandwagon lately because of a few things I have heard that really scared me. Let us all know it this helps.
