breathing a sigh of relief.

we all know, i hate the dentist. I've blogged about my aversion to going. here

today it was my turn to sit in the chair. and i have to admit it wasn't so bad.

ok the treatment plan, and extensive work needing done is completely daunting.

I'd say it was horrifying but sadly no worse I than expected.

the price tag though?

HOLY HELL! it resembled the price of a small car new off the lot. yes, there is THAT MUCH NEEDING DONE! including extractions, root canals , crowns, and (gulp) partials.

that's gonna hurt. even with insurance.

Ok but that's not why I'm blogging about it. going to the dentist. i'd just as soon pretend that i needed nothing done.

TODAY: i have to confess, i had a visible cavity on the front my right canine up near the gum line. semi hidden by my top lip. it made me seriously self conscious.

it's been there a long while, but my aversion to the dentist has kept me from calling and going in.

TODAY I FINALLY GOT IT FIXED!

HALLELUJAH!

I hafta say, it's a major relief that now i can smile, laugh, or talk in public without feeling self conscious like people can see this discolored, chipped looking, crap on my tooth, ugliness.

I have BEEN FEELING SELF CONSCIOUS ABOUT IT FOR? umm, probably a year? maybe less?

yes. that is PATHETIC.

but since it's been so long that I've been worrying about it.

well, now it's just that much more of a relief that it's fixed right? YES!

Ahhhh. { did you hear me breathing a sigh of relief?}

on the way home I was thinking WHAT WAS I WAITING FOR? it was NOT bad AT ALL!

and it wasn't even expensive.

I'm retarded

but i feel so much better.

((grins!))

QUESTIONS!!!!!!

Do you have dental work that needs done? what are you waiting for?

love the dentist? or hate it?

now I'm off to the eye Dr. for me and Liberty. I've never had an eye exam.

she is almost guaranteed to need glasses. she has all the signs. squinting, failed vision screenings at school and the pediatrician etc.
she's hoping she gets glasses.

then there is me , i'm having mixed feelings about it.

i'll let you know how it goes.

so. we ordered Liberty's glasses. she's near sighted.

and I could go either way. since my eyes don't totally bother me . i can wait. a year or two . OR get some glasses now. i'm holding. until i either find frames i LOVE somewhere or feel like i really need some glasses. OH and i have slight. astigmatism.

we did the dilation thing. and holy crap. hate it.

i can't read for crap. can't discern colors. what use is looking at frames. if you can't see how they look on you?

it's been a crazy busy productive day.

there is more going on.

so...Glasses? do you have them? need them ? want them?

just wondering.

Hate the dentist! Bad experiences when I was younger and I had to go a lot because I had braces! But I do make my kids go...haha nice me! I do however have to go really soon its been a couple years and I have a tooth in the back that bugs me plus I want to have my teeth zoom whitened and in order to have that done you have to take care of the checkup/cleaning/ and any cavity issues first! So Ill go...Ill be kicking and screaming but Ill go!

Yes, I have dental work that needs to be done. I don't get it done because I need a babysitter, which I don't have. Also, not so excited about the pain aspect.

I am waiting to need stuff done. I have veneers on two of my teeth and I've had them since I was a sophomore in high school. So that's what, 19 years or so...I found out a few years ago that they are only supposed to last about ten years. So. I'm just waiting for them to fall off in my apple. That's bad, isn't it?

I love the dentist. But last time we got our teeth cleaned and x rayed by a dentist we didn't know, he told us we needed 100s of dollars of work done. I was a little leery, because I have never even had a cavity. And my teeth seemed healthy to me. So we went to our freindly doc in Payson to get a second opinion. And we needed NOTHING done. So beware of dentists you don't know. They are liars. But I really like to have my teeth cleaned;)

I used to hate going to the dentist-I too had a bad experience with a dentist, he said I needed A LOT of work done, my gut told me to get a second opinion but I didn't want to be rude (today I would have said f-off) so I had the work done only to find out that I didn't need it and he ruined my mouth MAJORLY!!! Now I have a wonderful dentist whom I love and he is fixing all the mistakes and problems (cavities and bad dentistry) and he is so nice to me and he lets me bring Katherine and his office staff plays with her and keeps her occupied (so sweet). He also lets Cody do trade work for it since we don't have dental insurance.

***FYI, that Damn Dr. Pepper is the root of all evil, it causes SO many cavities, yet I still drink it :)****

I wear contacts. I hate glasses! They give me headaches. If you have the option, contacts are the way to go.

yes....I am a dental assistant and HATE going to the dentist. I am all done getting my extensive work done, it took me three years to be able to afford it all. I used to feel bad about the state of my mouth, but you know what? Everyone that comes in needs a ton of work. Now I don't feel as bad. Glad you had a good experience! i would love to be your dental assistant...how funwould that be?

Hate the dentist and have glasses. I only need the glasses to read so don't have to wear them all the time. I had to finally give in and go get them because hubby got tired of having to read the small print to me. lol

Don't love the dentist. I just hate the drill so I am always worried that I'll have a cavity when I go for a check-up!

Glasses.....yes, I need them, but I'm out of contacts and never got a pair of glasses with my last prescripton, so I've been going around blurry for a year or more.(I need to go back and get them checked again for a new scrip) It stinks when I'm trying to find an address as I can't discern the street signs until I'm right there, especially at night! And then my hubster always asks me if I think the HDTV looks so clear and amazing....ummm, no, it looks sorta blurry, remember, I need new contacts and a new prescription?!

I haven't been to the dentist for a very long time. I have been putting it off, I guess I'm afraid they will tell me I will need ton$ of work done and I just don't want to deal with that. Even though nothing is in pain or noticibly wrong at the moment. And we have spent a small fortune on the hubby and he still needs tons of work done. Pat on my back for keeping the kids current on all their crap. They love to go to the dentist. I guess it's the free goody bag filled with toothbrush, paste, floss and more! I think you've inspired me to make an appt. for myself! I have worn glasses and contacts since 9th grade, I'm pretty much blind. I'm starting to worry that now my nearsightedness (all six inches of it!) is going. Oh how I wish I could get Lasik!!! But I do think glasses are fun sometimes, but mostly I just wear contacts, they are easier to deal with.

I'm so happy that you got your tooth fixed and it wasn't as bad as you thought it would be! :)

I used to love going to the dentist, even if I had to get a filling. But recently, I had to get 2 fillings re-filled {drill it out then put new filling in}. And it's left those teeth SUPER sensitive & sometimes painful to chew.

My kids had to get LOTS done with their teeth also. As it turns out, you're supposed to take the kids to the dentist for a check-up before they're 5. Well that didn't happen with us. My kids just need too brush & floss much better! They're lazy brushers!

I hate the dentist and the cost too. I have braces and so I get checked very often, or tortured. I got the bottom braces on this week and I am on day 3 of not being able to eat, it hurts!

Anyway, summer is a hard time. I am trying to have a good attitude. Today is my kids last day of school and I organized a surprise swim party to celebrate.... just pretending I am cool and excited about it lol.
