My Likeness on a Watermelon.

yesterday the kids kept begging me to cut the watermelon we had in the fridge. so instead of just slicing it up, i cut the top off and scooped out the fruit and I carved it.(which is easier to do than carving a pumpkin)

by then Hope was NOT satisfied with her mini pumpkin (because she couldn't carve it, just decorate it.) so she claimed the watermelon as her own. she wanted eye lashes, and lips. i added some bangs, eyebrows and cheekbones and a nose.(excuse my camera phone pics)

Photobucket

the kids thought it looked like me. awesome, that's super flattering!;)

Liberty designed her own and carved it all by herself with no help from me. WHOOHO!

Photobucket

Then Paxton got to pick his own design out of the book and i got to help him. carve this...

Peyton and Joy still get to carve theirs. later. i'm sure i'll post those too.

Pierce is just happy to have his mini pumpkin (and maybe poke it with a fork, you know how he is. captain destructo)

~~

then last night i went to girls night and learned how to make the BEST ROLLS EVER!

(technically called Knot rolls)

we'll see how i do when i get my ingredients because I'm totally attempting the wonder.

now I'm craving chicken salad to go on them.

I hafta say i'm grateful to have such awesome friends.

~~

today i get to take a math test and write a paper for my English class , plus my standard scramble to keep up with the house.

and this afternoon is a primary carnival. wheeeeeeee where my 3 big kids are helping put it on for the younger kids. yeehaw!

then it get to taxi kids back and forth to dance

Wednesday's are my crazy afternoon.

what happened to the days when the only thing we had on our schedule was nap time?

and i had nothing more pressing than climbing laundry mountain?

Questions...

Carving pumpkins? have you? did you post pictures somewhere?

do you let your kids do it all by themselves or do you help (do it all) and just call it theirs?

have you ever carved something other than a pumpkin?

Taralyn stole the words from my mind. i want to get that recipe too!
we went to walmart to get pumpkins monday night for FHE. (our FHE's are not traditional because of Hozer, so i count things we do together on a monday FHE. and then throw in a normal one here and there with an actual lesson for me and the girls)
we haven't carved them yet, i don't want them to get nasty. we will friday or saturday. i'm so excited to let them do it this year. maddy can for sure and i'm thinking missy will too so only one to help. i will have to post picks on fb or maybe even my blog (ya right hehe) missy has hers all planned out with candy corn as teeth and all kinds of craftiness-can't wait!
never tried to carve anything else but it looks fun. good job!

No carved pumpkins here. They are sitting whole on the front steps, frozen....it's a whole whopping 33 degrees outside today. I haven't decided yet when to bring them it to thaw out so we can carve them. I'm just hoping they don't turn to much when they do thaw out! Just let us get them carved and back outside to freeze solid again! :)

Love that watermelon- lol. We carved- I let them do it on their own unless they ask for help. I have some great kid friendly knifes.

I love your watermelonkin!
That is actually a great idea because you can eat the insides!!!

We are not doing pumpkins this year...ya boo on me but I find them to be a waste of money and when you "accidentally forget about them"..oops... they stink and just almost evaporate! I think it is more my oops than the money thing but the kids didn't really ask this year so I am just pretending I forgot.
