where they snub my attempts at culinary delight.

so, last night i cooked dinner again! 3 nights in a ROW! ok so they weren't gourmet meals by any means but i was the primary chef, which is not a common occurrence.

I admit, I prefer the take-out method of providing sustenance for the family, of course that's not financially responsible and eating out gets old soon enough. but why does it irritate me so much when half the family turns their nose up at whatever i've provided? it bugs me.

I can guarantee Liberty won't be eating what's provided. she's the queen of making Pb&j or cheese chips.

Joy recently has gone meatless and so has Hope and yet previously they've thoroughly enjoyed meat sauce and chicken. but now unless it's bacon or in nugget form all 3 girls snub my attempts at culinary delight. BAH!

and another thing....what is with kids saying they are full and then an hour later they are starving again? seriously? they must not have been freaking full, and just tired of sitting at the table. the 4th meal is fine for a late night taco bell run , but it irritates the heck out of me night after night in my kitchen.

anyway. i finished my research paper at 1 am . I had to do in text citations, and a works cited. which took longer than just reading the article and doing hyperlinks. blogging is so much easier. and yet kinda the same. except on the research paper I'm getting a grade. and i better dang well get a good one.

we'll see. the teacher seems to not care about the actual content , just if the citations are done correctly. we'll see how i did for my first real attempt. this is just practice for the real deal for the end of the semester.

ok, so i better get going. have a fabulous day.

Dinner? does everyone happily eat what you provide or do they make their own meal?

do you have picky eaters? do their issues change on their every whim or are the consistent?

when i make dinner, it is usually for David and i. i try to shoot for one meal a week that everyone will eat, tacos/tostadas. other than that it is hit or miss. if you don't like what i make you can make yourself a pb or cheese crisp/chips, corn dog, bean burro-whatev.
they are super picky. very consistent. pay back is a b****.

forgot to add. i was super picky as a kid. that's why payback is a b****. otherwise that didn't make much sense.

Luckily I have good eaters, they can be picky but I am a food nazi so they eat. They don't have a choice, never have and that has ended up saving my santiy. We have the "I'm full" line from Gavin all the time so we are at the if you are full that is it for the night rule now. You don't get anything else unless you ate everything from your plate, but you know that's my style ;). LOL Jeff is actually a bigger nazi about it than I am which is a switch for us.

Yay for the paper, I bet you will do great on it!

My kids do the same thing and say they are full after taking only a few bites. But I find it is because they eat ALL the time and so when it is time to sit down and eat as a family they are not hungry. I try to shoo them away for at least an hour before dinner but it doesn't always work.

But my kids are not that picky...they eat almost everything I make.

"You get what you get and don't throw a fit!" is my motto. If the kids don't eat or complain about what we are having, then guess who is chef's helper the next night. I usually have something that everyone will eat, ie if they don't like the spaghetti, they still like the bread and salad or vice versa.

The problem is......I always cook, every meal.....if we eat out its a treat.....and yet my kids are still picky!!!! I will spend lots of time cooking and preparing for dinner only to find I am the only one who eats it! ARG! BUT you are way nicer than me, mine do not get a late night taco bell run or even PB&J...

My kids tend to eat whatever I make for them....of course eating out at dinner time is a very VERY rare occasion for them so over the years I have just learned what they like and don't like. Only once in a great while will someone (mostly Emily)say they don't like something so her option is a bowl of cereal. My kids also aren't huge fans of veggies but I put it on their plate and they have to at least try it, eventually they will like it, I know I did.
Good luck with your paper, you will do great with it!!!

I was just told today by a certain bratty kid that we are not a normal family because normal moms clean the house and make dinner for their kids. A certain bratty kid doesn't really care that I have had 2 surgeries in the last 4 weeks. Why should that matter to her, after all....point being, my kids are ecstatic when I cook. They are programmed not to complain for fear that I won't cook again for a long time and they will be on their own for meals. They don't like that so much.....
