Do you have the same shade?!

Hope and Joy came home this morning from my mom's house after spending the night "all done up", hair freshly done, with bows. Hope's bangs were trimmed and they both had makeup on.

that's the wonder of staying the night with my mom. she puts her color stay lipstick on them so it doesn't come off all day, blush, and sometimes mascara. and a shot of her perfume, they love it.

i mentioned to Joy that her makeup was lovely and she excitedly explained, "it won't come off all day!"

just now after eating Lunch she discovered her lipstick was coming off a little around the edges like lipstick does when you eat , so she asked me, "mom! do you have the same shade?! my lipstick is coming off!"

Shade? seriously? she's 7 it's one thing to put on makeup and wear it proudly, but asking about the right shade to touch it up? WOW!

she cracks me up everyday.

i wouldn't be shocked if she called grandma to come over and reapply it for her.

i know just how she feels.

before the girls got home Liberty and I had walked across the street to the neighbor's garage sale. I bought her some kid books, and we went home.

Then she came home counted up her money, and went back several times. she bought herself a cute little purse and a Gatorade. then the boys needed a Gatorade each . then the girls came home and they went back again armed with $5 from my pocket. they each bought a bag or a purse, and some jewelry.

Ah the wonder of shopping all by themselves and coming home with a treasure.

do we need anymore bags and purses at our house? NO of course not.

but was it exciting to go get something new to them? HECK YES!

Gotta love some cheap excitement.

do you remember the thrill in buying something all by yourself as a kid?

garage sales? love them or hate them? i have to steer clear or i end up bring home things i don't really need.

I am not a fan of garage sales...but I love having them! People love when I do! Last hour every item is 25 cents and then it is all FREE! I never have to put anything back up! I love it!

I am not a fan of garage sales either. There was one being held across the street from us this morning as well. When my girls asked if they could go I said, "Sure, as long as you don't buy anything." I feel like there is already too much junk at my house to waste money buying more. And I know they can get excitement or cheap thrills for FREE: just give them an empty cardboard box or two, or let them have some craft supplies I already have on hand, and they are good to go.

that is so funny. she's going to be like her mama, can't go w/o the lipstick!
i remember spending down to the last penny as a kid. my Missy does that now and drives me crazy! i have a love/hate relationship with yard sales. my sis had one and gave my girls the "family" discount. which meant everything was free. we ended up with even more crap over here, like we didn't have enough already! but i love when i find something that i have been looking for or good clothes for the kids cheap.

I wish I had a mom like that. You know, one that liked my kids or something...;)

oh my gosh you just reminded me of my own childhood. Growing up in the late 70's we were free to do whatever we wanted so long as we were home by the time the lamp posts came on. And I was like 5. You reminded me how important it is to give your kids a little freedom to "be" in the world. I have a tendency to smother and be afraid to let them do anything. I loved going to the 7-11 when I was a kid and fetching a couple of peices of candy from the .25 cent bin. I loved garage sales as a kid. I remember buying a Joan Jett 45 and being thrilled beyond belief. Thank you for reminding me to let go a little.

Both, Love them because there is always a good find. Hate them because I think I personally need all the good finds I see and it doesn't end up being a money saver at this house.

You're little girls is SO dang cute. I read your posts about all the girly things and I REALLY wish I had a girl. Do you have the same SHADE? GET OUT!! I love it. Oh yes and then the beloved garage sales.....sigh. Someone's trash is anothers treasure. My boys LOVE garage sales. I make a weekly DI run. Secretly of course. How are you feeling? Any test results...etc. You may have posted and I'm not reading far enough. Hope you're getting better FAST.

I love having garage sales/yard sales...but very rarely venture to them. Although I love craigslist~
Kids are so funny about their money, and as a kid yes it was always thrilling to buy something all by yourself ;)

I think garage sales can be fun, but I hardly look. I'll drive by a little slower then quickly decide there's nothing I need. LOL

I remember as a kid, we bought a very worn Clue game from a neighbor's garage sale. I thought it was the bestest find ever!!!

Joy is such a crack up!!
