need some last minute basket ideas?

here are some ideas we have used before.

For the bug lover in your life.
a bug box
-walmart has them for around 4 bucks -and it comes with tweezers,a magnifying glass and mini flashlight.
and a bag of live lady bugs (at homedepot in the garden section)they have had praying mantis cases there too before.

Do you want to cut back on candy?
one year i didn't want to do any candy in the baskets so we did a money themed Basket.
It had a piggy bank (i did duck and bunny ones) and then the eggs all had change inside . the kids thought it was fabulous!

a friend does the get ready for summer basket-
a swimsuit
goggles or sunglasses
a beach towel
Flip flops

Last year
the tooth tunes toothbrushes
had just come out. so we did those.
and candy.
and rubber duckies
you could add bubble bath and fun lotions
for a fun basket.

ours this year?
a webkinz
a kite for the boys i need to get 3 girls ones still
puppy in my pocket filled eggs
candy-reeses eggs, cadbury creme egg, tootsie rolls,
punch ball balloons
ring pops
chap stick
toothbrush and toothpaste

some years we've had this stuff but this year i vetoed it-
bubbles
play doh
silly putty
edible grass
water balloons
hot wheels-we have too many
pin wheels

Lance's family had to have pinwheels, punch ball balloons, licorice, beef jerky, capri suns, silly putty,

my family has to have Reese's peanut butter eggs , peeps , cadbury creme eggs. tootsie roll banks, and sometimes a bunny.

what do you put in baskets.
what is for sure in there every year?
what makes your basket special to you?
and what can you do without?
do you reuse the same baskets every year?
or get new ones?

have fun and good luck if you haven't shopped yet?!

I do something different every year...this year bathing suits, and towels. Always a chocolate bunny, and I'm afraid a threat to never, and I mean NEVER do Easter baskets again, because every Easter my kids are absolutley HIDEOUS that morning...but every year, I do them again. SUCKA!!! But I have cut waaaay back on the candy. Have a great day tomorrow!!!

We usually ALWAYS do the sunglasses, swimsuits, towels and sunglasses. But this year with the pool, we have too many of all those. So . . . kids have asked for more Webkinz but then they spend forever on the computer. UG! So, I think I'm going with the gift card thing. $5 to Sonic, $5 to DQ and $5 to Wal-mart. Then they can spend as they wish. We ALWAYS have a chocolate bunny and we ALWAYS have a new DVD movie or two. We bought a couple of favorite oldies this year - Matilda and The Little Rascals. Should be a fun morning!

I love these ideas! If it wasn't so last minute, I may ditch what I typically do and go with one of these ideas. I usually just put several different kinds of candy in their baskets. Jelly beans, M&M's, Whopper eggs, etc...inside eggs. They each get a chocolate bunny of some sort and other misc wrapped candy. Then there's always an easter plush and a toy of some sort. My girls will each be getting Littlest Pet shops...the eastery themed ones, and I gotta go out today to get something for the boys. I told my husband he has to help me shop. I figure a game for the gamecube or a movie for Trenton, and maybe a new DS game for Camden.

I use the same baskets every year, unless there's a new baby, then I look around for one that is similar and if I have no luck, then I'll replace. But I had found some several years back at Target that I REALLY liked, so I bought them. I think that was when I just had the girls. Then when our first son came along I did something different and by the time our 4th child had his first Easter, I had found baskets to match those Target ones at a yard sale, so I snatched em up and have been using them ever since!

MAN! My comments tend to be soo long!

The nice part about have LITTLE kids still is I can kind of wing it last minute--but I love the "theme" ideas!! SO cute!! David LOVES Reeses Eggs and the Ducks and Chicks sweetarts, so I usually always throw a bag of those in and usually a DVD for the kids, but other than that it is pretty random!! Happy Easter!!

i guess i buy candy just cause it's tradition, but we don't need it cause we still have Halloween candy around here. i usually do a new outfit for summer/spring. my fave easter candy is the cadbury eggs without creme ... smaller with just chocolate on the inside. my kids are getting umbrellas, the girls are getting rain boots and clothes that i've been collecting, but just haven't given to them ... and candy. nothing too exciting. i didn't even buy easter dresses cause we have 2 weddings coming up to buy fancy clothes for. AND it's snowing outside ... kinda hard to get excited about cute easter dresses with SNOW!

Wow, great ideas! I just go way simple!
I found really cute Roxy hoodies at Costco for $6!! so my girls are getting little spring sweatshirts. Sammy is getting summer Power Ranger jammies. Brookie is getting a little spring capri outfit. Then I just do crayons, or markers, or something fun & small.
We've done the standbys like playdoh, slinkys, etc. This year I went WAY simple!
I love the piggy bank idea!! Thanks!! When I just had the 2 girls I did princess baskets. (we had a Disney store in our mall going out of business & I got TONS of great deals!!) Anyhow those were way fun!

Oh, I was going to say we HAVE to have Reeses Peanut Butter Eggs! (the BIG ones) Of course the Chocolate Bunnies! My favorite Easter candy is Cadbury Mini Eggs. Scott grew up with always getting Cadbury Creme eggs, but my kids don't like them, so I stopped doing it!
We don't have special Easter baskets I bought my kids those $1 buckets & we use those. I just keep thinking when I find really great baskets I'll buy themm. I haven't done it yet...
How about you?

Dump that stupid SALAR comment - it's spam that gives viruses.

We got each kid a new spring outfit. our candy is going to be snickers, milkyways, 3 muskateers, and Toblerone. and the babies are getting their bunnies and carrot houses I made.

Yeah if I had heard of half of these before I did what I did...then things would have been a little more fun! I am loving the theme idea...so cute! I hate when the kids get loads of candy that hang out for an eternity...cause I am a mean mom and don't let them eat it as they please. So it never goes away. SO I like the money and bank idea, and the swim basket theme. So cute!

Thanks for sharing such fun ideas! And it was good to run into you again...I miss ya girl!

Can't wait to see the pics of your kids all done up for Easter...and the flowers made. You are one awesome mom!

Yeah I needed you a couple of weeks ago when I bought the stuff. I turned Easter into a full blown gift holiday-what can I say? toys rock. So this year we did a barbie doll theme with candy and money eggs hidden. The money is to top off the piggy bank so we can go buy more dollies.
I love being 3.

I love all your cute ideas! I will have to remember that for next year. We use the same baskets until they are trashed. I buy just little cheap stuff from the dollar section at Target, nothin' to special. Growing up we always got something that went along with our Easter outfits.
Thanks for all the super great ideas for next year!!
Hope you have a great Easter!
