the fine art of procrastination.

procrastination.
i may have perfected the art. seriously! i have things to get ready for (BUNKO). somehow. i have managed to post (including this one ) 3 times today. i have deflected at least 4 offers of help from my friends. and have managed to get NOTHING done toward getting ready for bunko. why is that? I'm thinking since i can't have it perfect like i want, I'll put it off. that and I'm distracted by asinine projects that i truly don't have time for before this. and hmm, maybe I'm afraid if i manage to clean stuff, it will be undone before Tuesday night rolls around. like the mopping in the hall bathroom, yesterday undone with one bath by one especially splashy kid. that kid always is a sloppy bather, and yet can't manage to wash his hair. i planned on doing that again anyway.
but i find myself thinking hmmm i should do those blog templates people asked me to do last month, tonight, yeah , right now. um i shouldn't but i am ultra tempted.
and every time i got going on something Lance would make me come watch some youtube video. seriously i am so pathetically distracted i need no help and yet he keeps calling me away from sweeping. UGH!
and the new weezer song, Pork and beans
. that i love? YES! you can hear it repeat over and over. which i love! the CD comes out this week. on Tuesday. and that thrills me. so i'm listening to it over and over and dancing more than cleaning. but happy about it. that's good right? RIGHT!

anyway. i cooked dinner. it was called side dish Sunday.
you wish you could come eat at my house. i know it!
i cooked-
rice a roni -the San Fransisco treat. (my kids think I'm weird for calling it that)
french fries
corn
and Hot dogs.
OH YEAH CLASSY! but the kids ate dinner. they gobbled it up! and who doesn't love side dishes? i know i do.

so after cleaning the table, then feeding the fam dinner, i get to clean it again. and the kids said Lance gave them some notepads, and they spent some quality time making money. and tearing off sheets, and cutting some. yeah cleaning anything is a waste of time at this point since it's undone in a matter of minutes. i think i may pull an all nighter. and really i need to let the bulk of my issues go. does it matter that people wrote on the hall bathroom wallpaper? and i totally want to strip it and repaint, but i'm out of time for that. and really who cares right?
RIGHT? it doesn't matter does it? my house looks lived in. it will continue to look like this for at least 10 more years. with spurts of nicer turned ugly throughout.

so i think the fam finally went to bed. i better go get something done.

it will be great. really.
deep cleansing breaths, INNNNNNNNNNNNNN, OUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTT! HEHHEEEEEEEEEEE HOOOOOOOOOO! oh yeah just breathe, it doesn't matter. everything will be fine. AHHHHHHHHH! OMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm

and if i have to i can lock doors right? no one wants a tour. if they do, the can go ahead and see the wonder. scramble, stash, hide, shove. it works.

sometimes i wish i had unlimited funds to decorate, and have a maid. my life and having parties here would be so much easier. and stress free. or maybe i should just live a cleaner less cluttered life. what would that be like? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

and just think only 2 more days of me whining about this before this is all a memory and sweet relief bunko will be over until next time. WHOOHOO!

do you procrastinate?

any tips to stop procrastinating?

have you heard the new weezer song? what did you think? did you see the video? FABULOUS!
anway

Au Gratin potatoes! and yeah, Beef Rice-A-Roni The San Francisco Treat (which I always have to sing too). Plus, sometimes I love to have just potato salad, baked beans, and mac n' cheese. But, my all time Fave is Mashed potatoes and gravy! Really, I could just live without any meat at all.

oooh, no matter who you are it's scary to prepare for a function at your house!! I worry too.
A favorite side dish:
My brown-sugar carrots
Mac N Cheese (although around here, that's a main dish, not a side)
a FABULOUS salad
potato chips

I tend to procrastinate as well. I think it's the perfectionist in me giving myself permission for everything not to be perfect because I didn't have "enough time". I'm wierd.

I have no tips. I still do it and hate myself for it. If you get anything good, let me know.

remember the Friends episode where Chandler discovers "the closet" ?? OMG i imagine EVERYONE has something like that in their homes IF i walk in and nothing is out of place i start looking for a bulging door ready to bust it's hinges right off!

i think we all have that little panic panic panic feeling whenever its our turn to host.

OH and i looooooove side dishes..mmmm mashed potatoes are my fave, lots of butter and pepper please!

the other night we had sandwiches and chips for dinner and halfway through Jordan asked, "hey what time is it? is this lunch or dinner?"

hmmmph!

we promptly explained that it was a meal no matter what time we eat it and she countered with..."but there are not any veggies".

yep she is from mars...fo'shizzle. i mean seriously what kid complains about the LACK of vegetables?!?

i am sure everything will look fabulous! even if there is writing on the wall. ummm...my kids customized my walls and i just left it.

love the dinner. we had breakfast for dinner tonight..not my favorite thing to make when kids are asking how long

and you know i totally proscrasinate! and i don't clean unless i get really mad. and then when people mess it up i get even more mad, it is a vicious cycle

We love those parmesan noodles at our house. I think they're Noodle-Roni. We just had them last night.

I don't procrastinate with cleaning usually. I procrastinate with other stuff. Calling people I don't want to, making doctor appointments, going to the dentist (even though I worked there for 10 years). Try not to stress. Let friends help you, too! What are you doing for prizes? Email me if you have time, or take pics so you can post them after bunko. Let me know if you need another sub. If Luvpilot ends up being in town, I may be able to.

I procrastinate too, so you aren't the only one that is for sure, try not to stress too much about it!

Jeff had me listen to the song the other day, but I was distracted by something so only half lisented to it and need to go and do that again!

Do I procrstinate? Um, yes especially when it's something I am dreading! If it makes me feel good or will make something look better I am all over it. Strange I know.

Sidedish-anything loaded with carbs!!

Don't stress over the small stuff-kick back and have fun tonight and like Tammy said utilize your friends if they offer.

Can't wait to hear about Bunko...

I am a total Pro at Crastination. My mom actually just sent me the book "Live What You Love", which actually is very uplifting.

As far as a side-dish goes, anything quick, fattening, and creamy (QFC) :)

Dinner sounds great. Anything that gets the kids to eat. I am wo with you on the whole do I make the kids help or just get them out of the way so that I can do it? I debate that all the time. I want them to learn but I get so sick of having to just do it again and I have no as in NONE patience so I just end up mad when they half ass it. Totally procrastinate and have ADHD so bad that I can't even get one room cleaned with out starting into like 5 projects that will all haunt me until they are done. UGH! Good Luck! Almost there amost done!

I feel your pain. I'm such a procrastinator. I am also a perfectionist. I am also lazy. Those 3 things combined get me nowhere because if it can't be perfect then I just don't try at all. I always stress about having things at my house because my house is ugly and "lived in". I wish it didn't matter. It really doesn't- it just stresses me out. Good luck with everything. I love all food, so picking one side dish is too hard. I'd say funeral potatoes or creamed corn if I have to choose something.

Sorry. I'm procrastinating right now...Catching up on your blog is soooooooo much better than cleaning the bathrooms and folding laundry.
