gameboys don't belong in the toilet and other lessons learned today.
i started out my day with a call from CARA! she was calling to see if i was willing to be on the news as a mom blogger. UM WHAT? she had an interview this morning. i said sure, the lady called. and said she'd get back to me later. hmm, i am thinking it's probably not happening. i was open to the idea but really i'm fine if it doesn't happen. and seriously an hour with interaction ? is what Cara did. scary thought there. i can only imagine the insanity of my kids, and the possibility of what they could say. NOT a fun idea.
but because of that , i got up, showered, and when i went in to the bathroom to blow dry my hair(for the 2nd time all week) , i flushed the toilet as soon as i walked in to the bathroom( just in case, since my kids have a horrible habit on not flushing) and i'm so glad i did, because in a matter of minutes Pierce came rushing into the bathroom, and drops the Game boy into the toilet. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, i fished it out, and i was so glad I'd flushed minutes before because then i had the peace of mind the water was clean. phew!
the thought to take a picture flashed through my brain, but i figured if i took the time to get the camera, there was no chance of saving the game boy.
anyway it's drying out. hopefully it isn't totally ruined. I'm not buying a new game boy right now.
so the rest of the day we hung out, i maintained the house. and then since it was pretty clean still, i had time to play wii with the kids. just me and 4 kids. pierce was napping, and Peyton was playing lord of the rings in the office.
the storeroom got some shelving today, i'll take pictures. they aren't painted yet. but then it's easier to see the layout.
so that is the fun of today.
dinner? we were going to grill again. ooohhh ahhhhhh!
and movie fun tomorrow! WHOOHOO for that. i need to pack my bag early, and get the kids stuff laid out so we can be early for the FUN!
lessons learned today?
~ flush when you go in to the bathroom to fix your hair or you'll be fishing gameboy out of questionable water.
~gameboys don't go in the toilet.
~left over homemade root beer needs to go. the endless cups around, and spills are killing me.
~ do not whine about storerooms. they are nice after all, and generally it gets rubbed in your face after the fact.
~ don't leave kids in the shower while picking up from summer school , or the baby gets in with his clothes on and gets soaked. even though dad is watching.
~Hope needs a nap. the all day interaction with siblings leaves her whiny and screaming. and she keeps asking if she has school? sad.

Glad you got it out and it wasn't ruined! And WOOHOOO on the maintanance. I was going to tell you, we do a 10 minute pick up most nights, the kids get 10 minutes to pick up there stuff or it goes in the trash, then after they are in bed I set the timer for myself if I need to and clean for just 10 or 20 minutes before bed, then at least the house is clean when we wake up! Ok long rant, but I keep forgetting to tell you that! Have fun at movie fun, I am slightly jealous of not being able to go. See you tomorrow!!! I am so excited!
How come being a mom is the only job with requirements for learning that are never written in a book?
Sounds like you've learned some fun ones today!
P keeps begging to go to school and swim lessons. Every day he asks if there is "school today?"
When I was traveling I dropped my travel box of makeup and hair brushes in the toilet. DA@@IT!!! I was so mad.
I don't think I learned anything tonight except where the water valve is because we had ANOTHER bathroom flood...maybe someone flushed a gameboy down our toilet.
So not rad.
But.
Your post IS. :)
♡ My kids have been known to intentionally put phones and remotes in cups of water or the sink! Drives me crazy! Luckily they all still work!
LOVING this post. Your titles are amazingly witty and enjoyable all on their own...I'm thinking I need to post purely on the enjoyment I have in other's blog post titles!!
;)
Glad that you "learned" so much today!
See ya tomorrow at Movie Fun!
that is totally something caleb would do.
i would love to see you on the new with all your blogging experience! you are an awesome blogger!
Is flushed toilet water really clean? Is ANY toilet water really clean?
Hallie :)
Lot's of good things to learn. I am not a fan of the toilet as a toy storage unit either. Hope the game boy survives!!
Oh poor Hope.
Your comment about the endless cups reminded me of what my Mom did. She took us all to the store and let us pick out our own cup. Then that was our cup everyday for whatever we drank. We had to use it, keep track of it, and rinse it out. Saved a ton on dirty glasses lying around, because even paper cups can get left around everywhere. I found a cute plastic mug with Connor's name on it for him to use.
Have fun at the movies!
Oh man! I hate toilet fishing!! Good for you for doing a pre flush!
You got to love when kids through stuff in the toilet. We have had so many things in toilets and sinks. And we havnt been able to save them..So I hope you can save your game boy.
I hope you have fun a the movies...I decided for my own sanity that it wasnt in my best intrest to do that this year.
Oh man what a day! Glad you were able to save the game boy, and fished it out CLEAN water. :) That is always a plus...and what is it with kids and their not flushing...my kids are the same. I just don't get it.
And a kid that jumps into the tub in their clothes...Im feeling for ya girl! Hope the rest of the day was a little more relaxing! :)
Oh and about the tv show...how awesome is that...that someone thought of YOU to go on it. Keep us posted...that is awesome tho!
i love when i can start with a clean house and just maintain it...it's just such a good feeling!
bravo! on lessons learned today.
So once it dried out did it work? My oldest use to put everything in the toilets. UGH! I still have night mares.
So cool about the news. If you end up getting on let us all know so we can stalk their website.
