- the kids only want you to fix their hurts and hold them. (downside you are the only one that can fix hurts, break up fights, and change diapers)
- unlimited computer time. and yet not hogging it every minute.
- making up rules and they actually work for more than an hour because dad can't say they are unfair. aka ULTIMATE POWER!
- kids doing what you say instead of asking dad if they have to.(joy loaded the dishwasher today)
- picking up lunch or dinner. and feeling great about it.
- having Pizza twice in a day.(little Caesars and barro's)
- your kids begging for movie night with mom. more than ONCE.
and actually doing it. (monster house and shrek the 3rd)
- playing beanie babies 2.o online (thanks aunt Jane)
- letting the house go to crap knowing you still have __ # of hours until dad gets home.
- taking all the kids to Tar-jey and having them follow directions, and not run around through the store like loons because dad does. (Line Up! age order and don't let go of the cart!and actually having 4 riding in the cart! only 2 walking)
- and having people make nice comments about well behaved kids. instead of dirty looks like normal. WHY is it when he is with us we get dirty looks , and when i'm alone they ask if i had twins, and if they are all mine instead of just staring and counting. i think i'm more approachable. ("yes, they are all mine , lucky me! no, i never had twins, yes they are 9,8, 7,6,3almost 4 and 1 almost 2, yup, lucky me")
- giggling to yourself that as soon as someone saw the moon , they all started howling at it in the parking lot. and totally feeling rad about it.
- hearing the kids talk about much anticipated souvenirs. and saying how that makes it ok for anyone to go on a trip without them. (who doesn't love a prize? i totally do!)
- calls from dad. and hearing the kids tell him about our fun days. (downside? seeing sad faces and some crying on the phone)
- sending all the kids to bed and actually telling the kids the movie was over already because every one of them were asleep not even half way through. i woke up from a mini nap to send them to bed, i was NOT sleeping with 5 kids in my bed all night.
- secretly eating the thrifty's ice cream i bought this afternoon alone! HEEHEE chocolate malted crunch and mint and chip. and not feeling one bit guilty.
- realizing you survived a week without the hubster, and still made it to movie fun on TIME and finished with your sanity intact.(miracles do exist!)
- KNOWING it's less than 24 hours till daddy comes home. WHOOHOO.
- and just in time for FATHERS DAY! YAY!

I love this post julie!
Specially this part:
"WHY is it when he is with us we get dirty looks , and when i'm alone they ask if i had twins, and if they are all mine instead of just staring and counting. i think i'm more approachable."
You crack me up girl! Enjoy your last 24 hours!!!
Good for you, making it almost a whole week without any back up!
You. Are. My. Hero.
seriously...nice work!!
Oh girl.. ITA with ya! It is AMAZING how much smoother things run around here when Michael is gone for a week. Now that the twins are older, and he was gone this past week, it was HEAVEN. I am VERY strict with bedtime (7:30) and Michael is NOT. So I have had my evenings totally all mine.
I love my DH and appreciate ALL that he does to help, but sometimes it is just easier to do it yourself than explain the agenda!
Woohoo on surviving without Lance for the week! Job well done! And Thrifty's ice cream, my ears just perked up an it is only 7:45 in the am, where do you still get thrifty's ice cream? Yum! Have a great weekend!
How fun! What a nice list....I on the other hand have a hard time when Micah goes away on business & just want him home. He doesn't have any trips planned in the near future...but when he does I am going to think of these great things!!! Thanks for being so wonderful!
Yes, there are upsides to daddy being gone, I agree. I would add: having the bed to myself and not being woken up by snoring. And indulging in a dessert all by yourself, is heaven. Way to make it through the week!
Wow, it's amazing how many of these I can relate to. My DH gets home tonight about 10 pm. I cannot wait. It's been a long week and a half. Unfortunately I think I have a lot of cleaning to do today.
Fun week, you made me laugh having them line up by age and order...that's just too funny!
Have a good one Julie!
I can just see you all howling at the moon! sounds wonderful. i have major kid blenvy.
Sometimes it is sad to see just how well you can do without him there! My brother in law is a pilot and his wife often tells me that if he wasn't gone half of the time their marriage would not work out so well;)
So great! Glad you had a good week and doubly glad that Daddy is coming home. Good work!
What a fun week! Where do you get thrifty Ice Cream? YUMM!!!
It if fun for me when my hubby is out of town just to see how well I can handle things, and what I can do on my own. Even though I only have three kids they seem to act better when he isnt here!
I agree--sometimes it IS easier actually having The Man gone because we have ULTIMATE POWER!!!! The rules stay consistent and they stick.
For the record: The thing I love best when Mike is out of town is eating naughty snacks all by myself with no one to monitor. Not that he cares, but there's a certain feeling of freedom, you know??? Plus, I don't have to share :)
Glad you survived the week without Lance. I am always amazed on how much better my kids behave (for the most part) when Travis is out of town. Thannks for the Thrift Ice Cream tip, now if we could just get a Water & Ice out our way!!
you did it!! and it sounds like you did it really well. good job!
I'm so glad you survived him being out of town.
♡ Sounds like fun!!! Great list!
You are such a great Mom. The problem is it's the opposite w/ me - they are much better around Dad than Mom. Tom goes OOT alot so I feel your pain about being the only one in charge but I also don't clean up untill he comes home - oh wait- I do that everyday!
WAY TO GO WonderMom!!
Chocolate malted crunch?? That was one of my FAVES from Thrifty!
I'm gonna have to go find some for myself!!! Mmmmmmm
Wow you did great handling it all by your self. I love when I don't have my time monitored. I hate when he works from home and makes stupid comments about how much time I waste doing whatever. UGH! And when I am working at night and he is asleep I totally eat the yummy candy I buy and hide just for me. Shhhhh don't tell....
