today we...

celebrated Joy's birthday. the kids came in early and watched cartoons in my bed. while i still slept.

at 9:15 we got a call to come swimming at Grandma's pool. i turned it down. but changed my mind and went anyway. ( i am not a fan of swimming in public. and i was all prepared to let my kids know in no uncertain terms that if they made one rude comment about me in a swim suit, they'd have to get someone else to take them swimming for the rest of forever, but they were good, and now i'll have to continue taking them)

we went with my sister Maria, and her 4 kids. as we were leaving my cousin Debbie came with her herd of kids and nieces and nephews. so we stayed and i was there until noon. some of us got toasted. (just the ones with killer farmer tans.)

we picked up lunch on the way home, and Joy wanted mashed potatoes. she got to pick so we got churches chicken and lots of mashed potatoes. they ate every last scrap. hungry kids after swimming so long.

we came home and watched monster house on my bed. me and 5 big kids. while Pierce napped. i napped too. surrounded by my chilluns. they thought it was the best thing ever!

i got up and did dishes, and cooked CORN on the cob for dinner, and watermelon, and icecream cupcakes for dessert. my Mom and Gary came too. ( we love to have just fresh corn for dinner in the summer. who needs meat? not us!) i love mine mexican style with salt, and chili powder, rubbed on with lime. heavenly day ! 5 out of 6 kids prefer it that way, well 5 out of 6 of mine do anyway. just like we used to get in mexico from a street vendor. selling corn. heavenly day! lance used to think it was weird. he still might, but i don't freaking care. and hey it's no fat right? whooohoo.

mom took the birthday girl, and Liberty home with her to spend the night.

spectacular day.

pictures? you want to see pictures? umm yeah there are none. my camera kicked the bucket the other day when liberty dropped it. the thing that focuses, and moves in and out. yeah? it won't move at all anymore. it won't focus, and, it's in the trash as i type. SAD. my camera phone pictures wouldn't send to my in box. i have no clue why they won't but it's seriously chapping my hide. so for the next long while there will be NO pictures with my posts. it sickens me really the only pictures i got of Joy on her real birthday are on my camera phone. and we did all these fun fantastic things and i have nothing to show for it. SICK .

so i am not feeling all-happy go-bloggy.
there are other unpleasant issues going on 'round here, and i am so not feeling it. and the more i talk about it the more i'm bummed. so i need to not talk about it. i prefer living in denial .

I am glad you had a good day! I am SO sorry about your camera. I would be totally devastated! When you do decide to replace it look on Craigslist. When people want to upgrade they often sell their perfect cameras cheap! I highly recommend that.

Hope the other stuff settles down. ((HUGS))

Sorry you are feeling bummed about some "issues". Denial is my preferred method sometimes too! But it sounds like you gave your kids a fun fun day and that's all that counts as a mom! Glad you got a nap. Naps are heaven.

Oh, and to answer your question about Madysen's spelling...yep, we're pretty sure that's the way we will go. I wanted to be somewhat different.

Hi! I saw a comment from you on Cecily's blog, noticed you were in AZ as well, and thought I'd pop over and say hi! :)

Besides, in some strange way I actually look forward to vomit tales and potty talk... hehehe.. I'm a mother of boys. It goes with the territory!

What a fun day! I love to watch movies with my kids. I love them all being in the same room with me (when they are quiet of course!) Good times.
OOOH, I love corn on the cob. I will have to try your mexican style recipe.

Hope you are feeling blogalicious soon.

Glad to know other people have RAD farmer's tans.

Sorry about your camera. That stinks. Hope you can replace it soon.

I'm also sorry that you are having a rough time of things. E-mail or google chat me anytime if you need it.

Ahhh what a fun birthday for Joy (and the other kids who got to benefit from fun stuff too)!

Mmmmm fresh corn!!! I haven't tried it the way you like it, but it sounds good! I usually just drown it in butter, dash of salt & pepper!

HUGE BUMMER on the camera!!! New one for father's day??? there's an idea! LOL

Sounds like you guys had an amazing day. The corn sounds fabulous, I usually rub some Creole seasoning on mine but next time I am trying your recipe.

Enjoy your weekend!

once again i am stealing an idea of yours. man that corn sounds amazing!! guess what we are having for dinner tomorrow...

ugh!! as you know i have had camera issues too. hope you can get a new one soon!

i hate that you have unpleasant stuff going on. when you can hang out on your bed and watch monster house with all of your kids around you, you should not have to worry about stuff!!! hope it resolves itself soon!!

Happy Birthday to Joy! Sounds like it was a great day. Love those! Sorry about your camera and I hope you feel better about stuff soon. I hate those kinds of issues.

Don't talk about it if it helps with the denial.

BUMMER about the camera!

The boys and I had just corn on the cob for dinner the other night too. I had made some Rhodes rolls (another of their favorites), and we had rolls and corn. Full of startch, but hey, who cares? It was yummy.

Happy birthday to Joy! I've done the "watch a movie in mom's bed" with the kids while I napped. It's the best.

Denial is the way to go sometimes. I hope things get better!

BUmmer about the camera. We just had to replace ours since our other one had been dropped a few too many times!! I agree with everyone else that would be a fabulous Father's Day Present. What a fun day to spend a Birhday!! Yummy Corn - I still haven't made it back that way to get some. Do you have any idea how long they sell it there?
