the wonder of branching out in my destination spots.
well not really a destination but i mean hitting a different walmart than my usual one.
come on! you KNOW you go to the same one over and over, and you probably refer to it as "my walmart/our walmart" i have one.
tonight i branched out. and the wonder will never cease!
first, the new exciting further away, i almost never hit this walmart was STOCKED with load of Halloween wonder, my walmart has been out of for some time now.
2nd. while i was chatting on the phone and shopping with this friend i spotted AN EX BOYFRIEND!
yes i have a few of those from my super deep dark past lives. not really it was a boy that i was nice to and he eventually took it as i LURVED HIM, and i was just being me, and he was pathetic, and shy and nerdy, but since i was nice that meant i Lurved him in nerd.
and well tonight, as i was walking down the main aisle past the electronics department , almost to shoes, i spotted him walking directly towards me. and instantly at the last possible second , he turned and went on the opposite side of the TV display in the middle of the Aisle. passing silently by while i had mild hysterics and whispered into the phone to my friend.
and of course with my super fabulous luck it was after 10 pm on a Monday, and i looked like Arse. and by arse i mean not hot! and tired, and no makeup on, and slightly smashed flattop-ish hair from my afternoon nap. and UGH! i was ex boyfriend spotted . darn it.
and of course this guy would choose to avoid talking to me. since i was kind of a Bi-otch back in the day, when i dumped him. approximately a week after he graduated from High school, after he took me to his senior prom, after he took me to his grad night party. yeah. i dumped him. he knew it was coming. but he took it pretty hard. and has pretty avoided me since. his brother talked to me still, his best friends still talked to me. his sister thought i was fabulous. but in the end he avoids me. seriously that was like 15 years ago. GET OVER IT!
or maybe he just didn't recognize me.
it's possible.
anyway i was still reeling from the sighting, when i went to the check out. and low and behold , my all time FAVE walmart Cashier Melissa was working tonight. at a far away walmart than the one i knew her at! WHOOHOO!
i am friends with the late night walmart people. apparently i am memorable to them anyway.
ex-boyfriends, not so much, cashiers that i see a couple times a week late at night, we are on a first name basis, even after a YEAR.
or TWO. and she asked about the baby who i was prego with when we became walmart friends, and now Pierce is TWO. she even remembered the part that we were going to name him XVIII. that's 18 in roman numerals. it's funnier if you know my last name.
so anyway. eventful night at Walmart.
and i am all ready now for Halloween, i bought and sorted my Halloween candy. i totally sort it into candy i like and want to keep or hand out last. and candy i hate and will hand out first.
what kind of candy do you hand out?
first to giveaway? NERDS. i hate them. they taste nasty, they make a mess when they get spilled and they hurt to step on. next out the door? Gum, and then raisinets, and goobers.
what are we hoarding? jolly ranchers(the big ones) Swedish fish , and sour patch kids for Lance.
and for me?snack size Reese's peanut butter cups. milky way, 100 grands.
and for my purse as bribery, smarties, sweet tarts, suckers, and airheads.
speaking of things that hurt to step on. VAMPIRE TEETH! ouch!
i learned that the hard way today. thank you very much.
QUESTIONS?
SO what kind of candy are you giving out?
do you sort your candy in first to go? last to go? i'll call it "candy planning".
if you see an ex boyfriend/girlfriend do you avoid them? or stop and say hi?
are you friends with your walmart cashier?
do you shop at a specific walmart every time? and do you call it "your walmart"?
wanna see a picture of the EX-boyfriend in question? i could totally bust out a picture,BUT i would be embarrassed because he has old friends that i KNOW read my blog. yes. we are still friends. that would just make me a huger dork, right? maybe a comparison of me then and me now. how about that? you can vote if i look the same or different. unrecognizable? what do ya think? could be FUN!
so what do you think? same? different?
unrecognizable as the same person?
and yeah i have short hair now, and weigh a ton more than i did back in the day.
Oh and yeah I've had six kids, so my skinny pre kid body is gone for good.
but hey i recognized him, even if he had gained some after marriage weight,
with his definitely less full head of hair.
play along. it's fun. but only if you can be nice. i don't need anyone telling me i look like HELL. even if i do. my kids like to tell me i'm not cute like i was before kids. i blame it all on them.

SO what kind of candy are you giving out? we pass out smarties and dum dums..always have always will. not sure why
do you sort your candy in first to go? last to go? i'll call it "candy planning". nope
if you see an ex boyfriend/girlfriend do you avoid them? or stop and say hi? totally say hi...and if they try and avoid me i make the feel like a jerk. it has happened once. i was good at it..i would do it again.
are you friends with your walmart cashier? nope
do you shop at a specific walmart every time? and do you call it "your walmart"? i branch out. there is one right around the corner from me but i go to it the least. we are getting a super walmart soon. the people of this town do NOT deserve it. they have ruined the one we have.
he should have totally recognized you, you do not look THAT different!
I go to the ame Target. I have been going there for the past 5 1/2 years now. I LOVE that place!
I tend to run into old boyfriends at airports! uggh! It is really weird, but it has happened a few times. Once while waiting in the Vegas airport, another in a small airport in Oregon.
I need to get with it, and buy our Halloween candy. I usually hide some of the good chocolate candy! Have a boootiful day! :)
I don't presort candy but that is on purpose I don't want to save or eat any around here.
I think you look great before and after. Maybe he was embarrassed of himself. The only store person who knows me is at Gymboree.
LOL That was hilarious!!I loved how you tried to whisper his name while passing him by. I am thinking he is still heart broken and avoided ;). And I am glad "my" walmart had all the right stuff! I was amazed to see how much stuff they really had, my target does too and on sale if you need anything else. And shhh I love Nerds! The candy that is. For me, not the kids, although Corbin can be trusted with them, Gavin not so much. Top on our list, Snickers, Butterfingers, and Tootsie rolls.
K..we give out the "BIG" candy bars..cause every year Costco has them on sale so they are like.30 each or something like that..
As far as pre-planning..my hubby likes to rummage through and pick out what he likes...get in costume first dear.
I have not run into any ex-boyfriends..fortunately...but if I did..I still look the same..have since I was 8..what??the??!!
I love Nerds too but my teeth don't. And I am sort of being a bahumbug with halloween and candy this year. I just asume by candy for my kids and skip the whole trick or treating. But I know that won't fly with the kids so we will go out.
Since I am living with my dad I will just let him buy the candy to pass out and he usually buys full sized candy bars.
And I do avoid people if I don't want to talk..I am lame like that. I think its funny though when they are the ones avoiding.
And I am sure if he was dating you, then he recognized you but there are those who shop in there own little bubble...like my dad..I have to always point out to him people. So you never know.
I think you look best with short hair. So, I think you look even better. (And you looked great then!)
P.S. I love Halloween candy! I sneak my favorites from my kids while they are at school!
You are still recognizable. I recognized you and I didn't even really know you, different grades and all. I only knew some of your friends from church. He recognized you. He was being a wimp. This is why I refuse to go to Wal Mert without makeup on. I ran into my 9th grade BF at a wal maet after midnight once. And an ex boyfriend's wife at Costco.(she hates me. Not sure why;)I always run into people at Costco. And feel like I have to explain the weight gain. At least you have a good excuse!
I actually haev a lot to say on this post maybe I'll come write more later, but I had to comment on that picture of you in the middle on the left hand side really looks like your daughter... Hope? I think that is which one I am thinking of.
Holy cow, I can't believe how much Liberty looks like you. I have always loved your long thick hair, but you know how I feel about long hair. It always looks great now though.
Hi julie, I always it my favorite candy first before I give it out. Julie I would just like to know what boyfriend you are talking about. Pictures would be great. I always avoid anyone I knew in highschool boy or girl, but expecially boyfriends! I don't avoid my friends though. You have always had the prettiest shiny hair and smooth skin. I recognize you but, I see you to though, maybe he is like me and can't remember any ones name or is horrified with his past life.
hilarious. well, since i live in a condo complex, there's a chance i would get maybe 6 kids. that being the case, i thought i would buy some of the king sized candy bars and be "that house" this year. i'm a chocolate/caramel lover so snickers would be my candy to give away. but since i have never given candy away, who knows. lol. as for the ex boyfriend thing... it totally depends on how it ended whether or not i will duck behind toothpaste isle or if i will say hello. i'm actually not friends with the walmart cashier because i am a target snob. and even at target, i don't know the cashiers... as for your fabulous pictures, you look great!! then AND now!!
miss you!
MMm, kit kats are my favorite. We're giving out candy canes...have to promote Santa's Landing somehow!
I only bought the kind we like to eat - reese's, snickers, butterfingers, & heath.
I used to hope to run into old boyfriends so they could see how hot I turned out (pre-children of course). It never happened. And now I live too far away, but I always think about it when I go to UT.
I do call the Walmart by me "My Walmart".
I think you look totally different now.
Oh and consider yourself officially "boo'd" Stop by my blog and get your "treat"
XVIII...that is HILARIOUS!
I wouldn't recognize you then from now, just because of the hair going from long to short. That ALWAYS throws me off when I see someone I knew a long time ago.
Candy...I can't stand nerds, either. If it isn't GOOD chocolate, I'm not interested.
We hand out the big bag of mixed cheap chocolate from Costco (the Reese's, Hershey crap). Sorry for calling it crap for those of you who like it. I think it's like chewing wax. I'm a chocolate snob. I can't help it. Forgive me.
I'm lucky, we live in a townhouse/condo, so we don't have to pass out candy, all the kids go to sub-divisions. It's also great because both of us can go out trick'er treaten with the kids. We do however, pass out small grab bags for the kids in our neighbourhood though. There are only a handful, so I am doing a sugar cone dipped in chocolate and sprinkles filled with candy corn and halloween coloured whoppers. If it turns out I'll post pics on my blog.
When I say we are lucky... it's because this year, I am not buying any halloween chocolate bars - they are my weakness (they're so small, eat a lot!)
Well, we'll see... if I end up eating the kids halloween candy, I may have to buy some chocolate bars to refill.... ;)
I think you look quite a bit the same! And I like your short, sassy hair BETTER.
And sister, who DOES look the same after kids???
You're hot & you know it. (snap snap)
depends on which boyfriend...one of them i would totally chat with the other not so much.
i love the picture comparison. i think you are beautiful both ways :)
