Liberty's nest for the 3rd grade nest drop!
every year the 3rd graders at our school learn about birds, and nest building.
they end that curriculum with a nest drop from the top of the 3rd grade building at our school.
they end that curriculum with a nest drop from the top of the 3rd grade building at our school.
i did it there in 3rd grade .
Peyton did it last year. with video here
and THIS YEAR ?
it's Liberty's turn!
with a
A blingtastic basketball nest!
i figure it should represent the person making it.
Can you tell she's all about bows and bling ?
yeah. she has a reputation to keep up.
we figured it might as well carry over to this project too!
there aren't any rules other than you can't use premade egg boxes.
the goal is to get creative

we waited until today to do it, it's happening tomorrow morning.
we used an old basket ball
that happened to get popped by a strange stray dog yesterday.
(i made her dig it out of the trash can)
we filled the flat ball with an old sun faded water noodle. (also thrown away today)
in the noodle we cut a hole to accommodate the egg, then filled the ball with cut chunks of the foam noodle to make it back into a ball and to give it cushioning.
i used zip ties to close the flap i'd cut in the ball, we then spray painted it fuchsia.
let it dry, and then added rhinestones.
and a bow.
it's all ready to go!
check back Friday for the exciting egg drop footage.
we'll see if the egg survives.
i'm thinking it will since
i didn't break even after Pierce tried to bounce it on the floor.
i'd waited a long while to step into this project hoping the hubster would engineer something with his mad skillz but once again the creative project fell to me.
we have a few more times to perfect our nest building.
every year for a while.
yee haw!
Oh and the kids were all sorts of stoked that we Recycled
and reused old junk to make the nest.

That is great.. funny my kindergartener is doing the same thing in the morning.. it is almost 11 and I haven't figured one out for her yet!!
I suck!
Way to go that totally makes up for using paper plates on earthday!!! It is so fffaaaannncccyy!!!!! Good luck tomorrow.
I love the nest! Of course it would be pink with a bow! What else would it be? Her teacher is going to be sad to see her go I'm sure♥ The clever things you come up with!
Oh, now I am ashamed. Katie's is not pretty at all. In fact, I did not consider the pretty factor. Her dad helped do it and it is functional. Nothing more.
Very creative! Your kiddoz are lucky to have a creative mommy! I can't believe they still do this activity I remember doing it when I was in Elementary school
You rocked this! :) And I love the bling-tasticness. So glad the egg survived the drop. Liberty looks so proud.
